Electrocomp EML-200 + Korg SQ-10 Sequencer Demos

More synth videos via 123synthland. Embedding is turned off on these, so you'll have to click the title link to get to them. BTW, we have an answer on the latex gloves. Mini wears them to keep the units pristine after cleaning them up for auction.. Very, very cool. It makes me think of all the times I've walked into a used synth shop; my first thought is always, "why the heck didn't they clean these synths up to make them more appealing?!" They are usually pretty dusty if not outright filthy. One of life's little mysteries...

Update via Mini:
"Dear Matrix,

Thanks for the link to our EML-200 videos in your blog. I wanted to make a correction.

After many years of selling on eBay and getting frustrated by their inability to keep it a safe and honest marketplace, I took a long break from selling there. My old personal account's still in good standing but we're back now with a brand new business account (123synthland). You already blogged our Paia 2700 auction (sorry if the pics are boring!). Our current goal is to sell off a lot of relatively inexpensive and slow-moving items on eBay but to continue selling higher end stuff directly, as we have been for a long time.

So, while we do greatly appreciate your link to our auction page, the EML-200 and SQ-10 were initially photographed for direct sale, without eBay in mind. The SQ-10 in the video appears to be spoken for but we do have another we can prepare for sale, and we're taking offers on the EML-200 at the moment. Whether that one will end up on eBay remains to be seen.

I agree that it's hard to understand why people selling their gear don't take the time to clean it up. On the other hand, I caution people not to think a vintage synth that looks clean on the outside is going to be in good working order when they get it - most vintage synths out there, clean or not, need servicing after so many years.

Thanks,
Mini"

Analog Video Synthesis with Arp 2600

"This video was created using an analog video synthesizer with control voltage inputs for various parameters. The control source used was ... all » an Arp 2600 synthesizer. The audio produced by the synth is audible at a low volume." Really low, I couldn't hear it. Pretty cool though.

This one sent my way via adsomers.

Ionic Performer

Looks like the Ionic Performer I previously posted about is now up on the bay. Click here for the shots saved for posterity. Funny, I didn't realize it was that big. For some reason I always pictured them thinner. Not much in the details aside from the following links. You can see my previous posts here.

Update: note OSC 2 does not appear to be working on this unit.

turntable casio

"latest keyboard... thing. controlled by a record player. in the arm of the turntable there are 3 photo cells (light sensors) that are wired into the circuitry of the casio. the record on the player has three red leds mounted on it... when the leds pass under the photo cells, it causes a glitch in the keyboard, making some stange noises."

Ionic Performer on Craigslist

$10,000 listed on Craigslist while it's up. The post refers to Matrixsynth and Paulsop.com (aka Doktor Future) for more info. Hmm... I wonder if Doktor Future is giving his up. : )

HarriL - Escape (Live)

"Ok, you people requested that I make a video of creating a song with the Electribe MX. This is how I usually do it. This thing will be about 50 minutes long, so i cut it in 5 parts, each part is about 10 minutes long.

Gear used:
Korg Electribe MX for most of the stuff and a Novation K-Station for the bassline."
