It's the Envelope, Stupid! - Navs' Modular Lab Easter EG Hunt

"time for another Modular Lab test:
Common wisdom has it that the most important module for shaping your sound is the filter. I beg to differ: it's the envelope, stupid!

On the bench: Doepfer's A-140 ADSR, A-142 Decay/ Gate, A-143-1 Complex EG/ LFO & Cwejman's ADSR-VC2.

Enjoy the test and happy hunting!

Yamaha CSDX

via Adrien:

"i found in an old french book about synthesis (from Jean-Paul Verpeaux) a picture of a 'yamaha FM synthesis prototype', clearly looks like a DX-1, with some differences quality is very bad, i'm sorry, but, i don't think i've ever seen that picture"

Be sure to click the image for the full size shot and zoom in a bit. The scan actually isn't too bad in that you can read the text and you can clearly see the label CSDX. If anyone can translate this feel free to post it in the comments or send it my way. You can find my contact info on the bottom right.

You can find all posts on the CSDX here.

The JEZ 40 - Roland Jupiter-6 Cake

via Jez:
"To celebrate my fourth decade, my wife made this superb JP6 cake. It's minus a filter envelope and an oscillator but I think we can allow a certain artistic licence! Very reluctant to actually carve into it!"

Be sure to check out the cake label below for all posts with cake.

Cwejman QVC-4

"Four vca are controlled in two pairs vca1 & vca2 (X) and vca3 & vca4 (Y), panning in X and Y. The Aux input is connected to all vcas inputs so by controlling X and Y
(manually or by CV) the signal connected to aux input will be presented in all vca outputs and will "travel" between outputs by moving the stick (and/or CV).

The sum output is for morphing duties. All vcas has level controllers (knobs + CVs)."

Cwejman FL-2

"The FL-2 is a high audio quality dual channel flanger. The FL-2 consist of two identical mono flangers which can operate in mono or stereo mode. The flanger work in pseudo stereo or spatial mode when an audio signal is inserted only in

The Matrix-6 was my first synth in 1986. I don't remember the box and I don't remember it ever being referred to as the M-6.
