Buchla starts at 1:09, but do watch the intro.

"This is my 2nd piece of Musique Concrète created with tape splicing, speed manipulation, over tracking, and filtering. The original sounds came from a Buchla synthesizer and then were tape manipulated into this composition. This tape spliced piece was completed in 1980 at the Unv. of Arkansas Electronic Music Laboratory under the direction of Professor Dale Millen. It was created on a classic Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center tape station consisting of 4 Ampex 1/4 inch half tracks, and Columbia-Princeton custom 12 channel mixer. All sounds were eventually tape spliced into the order of the song. I didn't just turn on the Buchla and let it roll, this piece was cut together. I've been told that this is the difference between West Coast and East Coast electronic music composition. I've been told.

Update via Reed:

"Here's a picture of the "classic Columbia-Princeton" setup..., complete with Buchla 100 and 12-channel mixer."

ProSolo RingMod Dubstep

YouTube via bigcitymusic. http://bigcitymusic.com

"Here's a fun use of the Kenton ProSolo MkII MIDI to CV converter. We're running our Elektron Machinedrum beat into the Moog MF-102 Ring Modulator. We set up a midi sequencer track to send note messages into the ProSolo which in turn is sending voltages to the Moogerfooger's frequency control voltage in. You hear the beat dry then we turn the mix knob up on the ring mod, then we enable the midi track, sending random notes through the ProSolo."

A True Rompler: EPROM-based Synthesis!

YouTube via littlescale
"I wanted to make a device that plays back digital audio, without the use of any programming or a microcontroller or a computer. In other words, the most basic rompler, as a hardware-only device. This is an example of a basic synthesiser that can use up to 256 different waveforms.

Z3000 / Z5000 complex patch 1

Z3000 / Z5000 complex patch 1 from GM on Vimeo.
"This patch got few tricks, first the Z5000 gets the sine from one VCO on his left channel then the sine of a second VCO on his right channel.

All three Z3000 are first having there frequencies set so they are spaced equally. Then, a CV from the computer Midi to CV is connected to all three, cascaded using the 1V/Oct I/O on the Z3000, all three are now playing the same sequence.

The VCO in the middle is frequency modulating the right VCO, the FM index is set at the 'safe zone'.

The most left VCO which is set to the highest frequency among the three is pulse width modulating the middle VCO.

Now the only thing left to do is just plug the waveforms from these three VCOs into filters and VCAS creating separate sound path and then sent to the computer interface for recording. Drums are played by a loop on Ableton Live. Thats it!!" TipTop Audio

Ryan Leslie Creates Diamond Girl

YouTube via RyanLeslieTV. via fischek. Alesis Andromeda A6
"Me (the Artist), Myself (the Producer), and I (the Engineer) get together in the studio to create my single "Diamond Girl". Great fun as usual.

Reviewing and re-sequencing the footage from this session revealed that it was possible to edit the video with an interesting twist: as though all of my alter egos were recording the song simultaneously, and even interacting with one another.

Please enjoy, request the song at radio, and share my music and vids with anyone else you think may appreciate them.

"How to create a trance lead sound. Starting with a sequence using a basic patch I'll show how to get a typical trance lead sound. The last version of Synth1 has some kind of supersaw that you can get it detuning oscillator 1. This feature make this synth perfect for dance sounds.

The parameters values are approx. Values are expressed in %.

Hammond 102100 Analog monophonic synthesizer demo

YouTube via sounddoctorin
"Bob Weigel of Sound Doctorin' demonstrates the Hammond 102100 synthesizer, a rare analog monophonic unit capable of some warm sounds and somewhat flexible through use of an array of preset switches. Sliders for wind (noise), tuning and volume. But 7 buttons each for waveforms (32' square, 32' saw, 16' of the same, 8' of the same, and 4' of a pulsey saw), filter mode, Width (one shots and repeating) and rates for vcf, envelopes for vca, pitch bend envelopes/portamentos, and modulations. Presets are French horn, Tuba, Violin, Sax, Clarinet, and 'space echo'. Cancelling presets leaves one with whatever the button matrix has selected then. Only one button in each row of 7 can be pressed at once. But as you see some useful combinations do come up and it's certainly a useful synth for the studio."

Hammond 102100 analog synthesizer tune up!

"Bob Weigel of Sound Doctorin' ( Http://www.sounddoctorin.com ) runs through the tuneup procedures for the rare Hammond 102100 synthesizer. See also video doing sound demonstrations. These are a monophonic synth with a single vco and divide down square wave arrangement. Then footages are combined to create stepped saw waveforms which may be selected instead of squares from 32' to 4' and run through the VCF and VCA sections with modulations. But controls are limited to sliders for wind (noise) and tuning and volume, and preset buttons for 7 each waveforms, filter modes, sweep rates (repeating and one shot), Envelopes, and modulations. Still there are some very nice combinations and the sound is very warm though noisy base line so far. I may need to replace those electrolytics that measure a little high on esr meter."

Analog Synth DIY Phaser Test

YouTube via Redled72

Googlish:
"It has once again done a lot ... the phaser is ready.
6 Allpässe and selected SFET-T.
Here he is running against a VCF. To the Moog VCF VCF is a second in series that with different audio signals on the 2Kanal of VCA runs.
Even a retro-VCO from the years 1973, I have revised and up. This VCO operates so similar, like a sequencer. Just over a frequency range of 1Hz - 25kHz.
The output is about 6-9 potentiometer. So that you can practically a special audio signal, such as stairs or a digital sine wave, etc. This VCO I in the next video before. Here he is not in appearance!"

Note MATRIXSYNTH Ts are comming. I just picked them up from the shop yesterday. The green on these are perfect and in black light it glows like a mother. Once I figure out how much they cost to ship, I'll be putting them up for sale. I gave a bunch away at the event and people seemed to like the quality of them. I got them done at Gorilla Screen Printing. They do pretty amazing work. They do the Ts for Sub Pop Records and they are very affordable. Check out their website. If you contact them, let them know matrix sent you.
