Roland SH-101 NovaMod synced to Electribes

YouTube via rudeog

"Borrowed my friend's SH-101 with NovaMod. According to my friend, "the NovaMod Rev.2 is by Phillip Pilgrim. I don't know if he is still in business after moving from Nova Scotia to Ireland."
Here I've incorporated the Electribes ER-1 and EA-1 and a Behringer delay pedal for some added excitement. The ER-1 provides a beat, and the EA-1 provides a pulse to the SH-101 to sync it so that the recorded sequence on the 101 can play (somewhat) in time."

willi - keyboards groove 20070926

YouTube via earth2willi
"Here's a new song I'm working on. This is after playing with it for about an hour total; I originally was playing it on my Wurlitzer 207VA without effects and it has a bit of a different feel. I may multitrack that part back in.

More music, videos, games, recipes, etc. are available on my website:
http://www.earth2willi.com

I'm playing a Wurlitzer 206 electric piano, Hohner D6 clavinet, and Hammond CV organ. These are routed to my Mackie 1604VLZ, which in turn routes everything into my effects chain (Moog Moogerfoogers; MF101 Low Pass Filter into MF104z Analog Delay into MF105 MuRF). I monitor on a pair of JBL 15" Eons and multitrack recorded at 96khz via a Digidesign 002 running into Logic Pro 7.2 running on a MacBook Pro 17" Santa Rosa with 2gb RAM. Audio was mixed, EQ, and a Space Designer reverb was added, as well as the delay feedback effect at the end. Some work was needed to minimize the overdriven levels the Clavinet was recorded at. Video was captured using the MacBook Pro's built in iSight camera at 1280x1024 resolution, 29.97fps. The iSight does not seem to actually sample at this rate, though, and it's motion quality is somewhat blurry. Video was edited in Final Cut Pro, titles were done using LiveType, and final compositing and visual effects created with After Effects at 640x480 (I would have preferred NTSC DV resolution, but YouTube elects to resize the video rather than crop it). Compressed with H264 codec the final video is about 84MB."

Ratchet Sequence with a Doepfer MAQ16/3

YouTube via attorks
"Investigated ratcheting with a Doepfer MAQ16/3. Something which seems easy with a Synthesizers.com Q960 sequencer. Found out that it can be done on a Doepfer MAQ16/3 but it is not as flexible as with an Q960 setup."

KORG Mono/Poly

images via this auction
"This synthesizer has had it's large power supply caps replaced & all contacts cleaned by Analog Synth Service in Oakland. I hear a small bit of noise that is gated (behind the VCA)- I was told that the filter chip is a likely culprit. However, it hasn't bothered me enough to justify opening the synth up but I'm including two SSM 2044 chips that I bought for exactly that purpose. Note that despite having 4 VCOs that can be played polyphonically, they all share a single VCF chip.
What's included:
- the Korg Mono/Poly synthesizer
- two rare extra SSM2044 filter chips (NOS, untested but purchased by a reputable eBay seller)."

Roland Jupiter-6 with Europa Upgrade

images via this auction

"The Jupiter has the highly desireable Synthcom.com Europa CPU upgrade that dramatically increases it's functionality and gives it the ability to transfer patches via MIDI.

What's included:
- the Roland Jupiter-6 synthesizer with power cord
- a few reproduction replacement slider caps & knobs (pictured)
- one-of-a-kind bound reproduction of the Jupiter-6 user manual and Europa user manual (pictured)
- Synthcom.com Europa upgrade (already installed)
- new internal battery (already installed)
- complete set of replacement sliders & pots!! (minus about three that have already been installed)"

An unpretentious theme close-up

YouTube via attorks
"I was investigating if some kind of ratcheting is possible with the Doepfer MAQ16/3 because it is now a hot item on the Synthesizers.com forum. Then this improvisation came along. At the end of the video you will here a sequence which seems to have some form of ratcheting but what you hear is some steps played fast and not one note multiple triggered at a step. The sequences you hear are performed by the Synthesizers.com Modular using the Ian Fritz 5Pulser Waveshaper and the MFM Modular using the CGS Steiner Low Pass filter. The first solo you hear is performed on the Creamware MiniMax ASB using the AKAI AX80 keyboard. The church organ type sound for bass and 2nd solo is played on the Clavia Nord Lead 1. I had to shorten the video a little bit because of the YouTube limit of 10 minutes. The original video is 11:33 long and you can see or download it from my website."

Atonoise-Some-Presets

"This is a VSTi synthesizer (and in Pro version VST effect too) for fairly spooky, SciFi and others alike sounds. It's working atonal i.e. with no real defined pitch therefore it is not what you might expect - instead this one is esp. for various kinds of noisy fx sounds."

Audible disease sampler vs the MOTM-420 filter

YouTube via RothHandle
"Today I have been working on the fth mix for the upcoming Antkowiak album...a track called Turn Around. For the seesond verse I wanted to overdub a very thin sounding ostinato pattern on the guitar...

So I recorded the guitar into the Audible Disease recorder and then filtered it through the MOTM-420 filter...

This film was recorded at the Roth Händle studios in Stockholm. If you are3 curious about the studio please stroll by www.roth-handle.nu for more info, booking etc...

Best regards,

Mattias"

8 step sequencer

YouTube via nathanielscott
"This is my second sequencer. It is an eight step sequencer built around a 4017 decade chip. It has a toggle switch that can switch between a full gated step or a pulsed trigger. Each step can be switched on or off and each step also has a voltage control that can be sent to a VCO. The step repeat can be varied between 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 steps.

I shot this video before I had the knobs for the voltage control pots, which is why they are missing. Also, I am only demonstrating the trigger control on the Casio-SK1's sequencer. I sequenced a little tune and then let the sequencer trigger the sequence via the one note playback hack I did on the SK1.

The sequencer does not have its own clock. Instead it is gets its clock signal from an external source, in this case from my for step sequencer on the left.

I economically purchased the parts from the Reuseum in Boise. Here is their site: http://www.reuseum.com

The edges are a bit rough as I cut all the openings into the project box with a cheap switch blade."

How To Modify Concertmate MG-1 Synthesizer by Moog - 1/4" Input & Output

"In this video I remove the RCA input and output jacks on the Realistic Concertmate MG-1 by Moog Music and replace them with 1/4" mono ins and outs.

Since this synthesizer is an older, entirely analogue synthesizer, it is relatively easy to make these modifications. All you need is a soldering iron, some solder, maybe a solder remover, some wire, a resistor or two, and just a little bit of time."

INFLATABLE YAMAHA QY70!

via this auction

another synth pillow

"have you ever been relaxing at the beach, looking out at the pounding surf and thought to yourself..."i wish i could combine my love of relaxing water sports with my love of esoteric electronic instruments!"

well if you have, GET READY! because here is what you've been waiting for!! while your friends play ancient crap games like "marco polo" and swim laps like SUCKERS you will be chillin' in the corner by yourself pretending to program "phat beats" on your own INFLATABLE DRUM MACHINE! It looks like it has all the great features of a Yamaha QY70, but it is full of air...which means...ummm...that it floats!

can an akai MPC do that? not without voiding the hell out of its warranty buddy!

just think of the possibilities! would a REAL hipster play dodge ball with one of those boring old red balls that every one else has? NO WAY! he would play "Dodge Sequencer"! would a real new waver parade around town with an ordinary inflatable balloon? NO WAY! he would fill this bitch up with helium and be the toast of the town. would the ultimate synth nerd rest his head on an ordinary pillow filled with obsolete objects like FEATHERS?? NO WAY DUDE! he would rest his head on an inflatable QY70 (or possibly a stuffed Morton Subotnik) and dream sweet dreams of hanging out with Wendy Carlos.

now what you see is what you get, i have no inflatable midi cables and i'm pretty sure they don't exist, so don't call me when you can't get the inflatable QY70 to sync up to your inflatable TR808. IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN. ANYWAY you'd need a inflatable SYNC24 to inflatable MIDI converter box and the only people who made that was Buchla to go with his inflatable touch panels.

anyway, somebody's GOT to have a use for this. I'M LOOKIN AT YOU FREEZEPOP!" see this vid
