VINTAGE ELECTRO HARMONIX SUPER SPACE DRUM

via this auction

"Electro Harmonix Super Space Drum effects pedal with original box and paperwork. This is a very cool and unusual effect, capable of creating very strange and versatile synthesized drum sounds. The Super Space Drum is an enhanced, more dynamic, version of the more common Space Drum. The obvious difference is that this pedal has two additional control parameters: 1) Modulation Depth, and 2) Modulation Rate. The remaining 3 controls are on both pedals: 1) Sensitivity, 2) Start Frequency, and 3) Stop Frequency. The relationship between all of the controls creates some of the best analog synth drum sounds.
The EH Space Drum is a vintage electronic drum pad and one of the first electronic synth pads created. It offers the player the ability to refine specific tones and create diverse drum sounds that can be fully controlled and manipulated with the drum pad controls: sensitivity, start frequency, stop frequency, modulation depth, and modulation rate. All of these controls allow a player to make a wide range of; tom tom sounds, bass drum sounds, snare sounds, sound effects, space sounds, explosions, mess.
The effect is in as new condition although it is over 30 years old."

Metasonix TM-3 Gas Tube Dual VCO w/ Midi

via this auction

"The TM-3 has two Sawtooth VCOs and a sub-oscillator. It has an audio in and a CV input that uses Hz/V. This particular TM-3 has the Synhouse MidiJack II kit factory installed!! These are rare and eliminate the need for you to buy a Midi to CV converter for Hz/V . Great on it owns, even better when used with a modular synth or other Metasonix or Moog pedals"

Movement-MCS II Drum Computer

via this VEMIA auction
"Here is a rare Movement Drum Computer that seems to be in perfect working order. However, I lost the software years ago and have not been able to get hold of copies. It's been stored in a studio workshop (clean and dry) for the last 22 years and apart from a little damage to the fibre glass case (top right) is in good condition. All the drum sounds play using the 14 trigger keys and the pitch, volume and release can be controlled. Some of the volume pots could do with a clean but not bad considering their age. The computer is running and you can type on the keyboard, all the keys work, but without the OS nothing happens. MIDI seems to work as well because you can plug keyboard into it and characters appear on the screen - but does not trigger the drums. For more info go to www.vcf.talktalk.net where there are more pictures and videos. (VEMIA note: undoubtedly one of the most sought-after drum-machines in the world, vying with the LM-1!)" via Pablo

Luna - Carbon111

"The Nord Stage is on 'distorted lead', Nord Wave on 'grungy Santur' and Oasys on drums and 'ambiance'. The vox is all me and, hopefully, I'm not too rusty."

You can find the track here. It reminded me a bit of Brian Eno actually.

Carbon111 has been on a roll lately. Be sure to see his free all Serge release, Lost Terrain, and his latest commercial release Shadow.

The Poor Man's MOTU Volta

via seismologist
"i've been messing around with using ableton live as a hub for sending control voltages (CV) out to my analog gear. it's fun and very flexible. best of all, it's free, cross platform, and can be done now while everybody's waiting for volta to released."

ableton live & motu CV control of frostwave resonator

YouTube via tremorcore

"more geeky CV crap using ableton live and a handful of LFO type wav files to modulate external analog gear.

(if you're not interested in the "how" and just want to see the frostwave spaz out, jump to 3:30 or so.) this stuff *only* works with MOTU audio interfaces (see: volta). this is an easy and free way to send beat-synced LFOs to your outboard modular gear; moogerfoogers, sherman filterbank, little phatty... anything with a CV input.

the LFO wav files used in the vid can be downloaded here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php...

i recommend setting the warp method to "Re-Pitch" to keep LFOs smooth at extreme BPMs. or don't... and get cool glitches."

frostwave resonator as bass synth. (ableton live + motu)

"more of the CV stuff.

here, the frostwave resonator becomes a bass synth. ableton live's simpler and drum racks are used to send CV signals to the frostwave and make it "playable" via midi. check out my other frostwave vid if you want a better understanding of what's going on.

you can download the ableton project used in this vid here

you'll probably have to install sonalksis' "free-g" plug-in if you want the key pitch tracking to work correctly, but maybe not... it's here: http://www.sonalksis.com/index.php?se..."

Peter Smith, secret synth project

YouTube via SmithComposition
"This is a demonstration of a software synthesizer workstation that I have been working on for a while. Built with synthedit, it is one of many projects that I am in the process of designing for possible use in my own music.
As you can see here, this instrument has two separate synthesizers with their own sequencers. Each synth also has it's own set of processors with different modes for 'clean', 'granualize' and 'destroy', as well as 2 different LFOs per synth. It also features a simple drum machine with distortion and bit crush based effects. I am still working on the graphical interface and appearance.

I also have a simpler version of this software (vst) without the sequencer or drum machine, which I will make available for download on my website when it is ready.

Please check my website for future announcements and updates: http://www.smithcomposition.com"

Make Noise Format Jumbler

flickr by Analogue Haven

"The Format Jumbler is a synthesizer interfacing module leading a double life as a mega multiple. It features 5 channels, each with banana, mini and 1/4" jacks. The bottom row has a ground socket for integrating banana type systems into your Euro system. In addition to jumbling, it will also mult your signals. The Format Jumbler in this photo has all white banana jacks, normally they are yellow. LINK"

YouTube via WilyEPeyote

"For those who wanted a closer look at the P3. Unfortunately the screen is rather bright so to show it properly I'd need a close-up just of that. Still, didn't do a lot of editing here - future vids will try and show a few tricks and tips once I get the filming sorted.

P3 tracks 1-4 control the Korg Radias
P3 tracks 5-6 control the sample parts of the Korg ESX1
P3 tracks 7-8 control the Access Virus C

All noodles are works in progress of course - would usually be performed in a band context and usually take longer... :)

Oh, an ad for latest CD could be a good thing:
