GetLoFi DingJo Demo with LoFi Amp and Pelzwik Contact Microphone

YouTube via circuitmaster
"Dingjo is a single string fretless guitar like instrument. Can be tuned to various open notes and played like a guitar.

The vibrations are picked up by a contact microphone attached to a magnet at the bottom of the Dingjo. Then the sounds are amplified and distorted via the LoFi Amp Kit.

Demo Resonant LoPass Gate

YouTube via attorks
"This is a short demo of the Resonant LoPass Gate which is a clone of the famous Buchla 292c LoPass Gate. Thomas White is the one who made this possible by producing the schematics and the PCB. The PCB with components already on it I got 2nd hand from someone in Belgium. The two Vactrols on it are VTL5C6, which are the fast type. I added the components for the mixer section and got the panel, pots and knobs from The BrideChamber.
In this demo the patching is as follows:
On the LPG audio input 1 is a DotCom VCO with a triangle wave.
On the LPG audio input 2 is another DotCom VCO with a triangle wave.
On the LPG Control input is the Gate of the Doepfer MAQ16/3 sequencer. You can see me adjusting the length of the gate with the knobs on the MAQ16/3. The CV of the MAQ16/3 is going to the VCO's.
On the LPG CV 1 input is the output of a DotCom Envelope Generator (settings A-0, D-4.5, S-0, R-2). So when turning the CV 1 knob up, the output of the EG is mixed with the Gate signal. Initially the CV 1 knob is down.
The LPG's output goes to the AKAI Head Rush E2 which is switched on after a while during the music bit.
I couldn't help to put a little music in the middle of this video, hope you don't mind.
The resonance in the Frequency mode is quiet strong but I wanted to show the full turn; perhaps you will hear some clipping."

Listening to Electric Fish

"At your local tropical fish store, you can find a particularly wonderful creature called an Elephant Nose fish, or more properly, Gnathonemus petersii, a member of the Mormyrid family.

Besides the obvious visual interest of the animal, there is another fascinating aspect to it -- it emits pulses of electricity into the water, with which it locates food, other fish, and potential mates.

It is easy to listen in on these electrical signals with simple inexpensive equipment, such as a piezoelectric earphone, or a small amplifier." You can find more info and samples at scitoys.com

Random Chimes of the Continent

YouTube via JeffreyPlaide
"This musical composition uses arpeggiated sequences from the Korg R3 synthesizer combined to produce a rhythmic, yet ambient experimentation. Arpeggiated sequences were cascaded with surreal synthesizer analogue pads creating sonic textures that form a tonal backdrop to carry away the listener to another time and space. High resonating filter frequencies combine with the bass tones for a very full stereo effect richly endowed with reverb. The visuals for the music are pure video synthesis, using electronically-generated shapes and modulations built up layer upon layer forming modulating optical rhythms. It is the closest one can come to analogue video synthesis using the resources of vision mixing and linear modulation techniques. The work exists as an audiovisual experience, with the music and images forming a pulsating, unifying composite. Both hypnotic and meditative, several aural and visual combinations are used to bring about an interesting immersive experience."

OXYGENE 4 (EXTENDED VERSION) cover played on vintage synthesizers (new mix)

YouTube via AnalogAudio1

"I recorded this cover of OXYGENE IV - music by Jean-Michel Jarre.

NO SAMPLES were used - just the real thing (vintage electronic instruments). Every sound was played by hand and recorded onto multitrack without MIDI - like Jarre did in 1976. It was hard work - it required good timing - but I enjoyed the recording process very much! At the first picture in the video you can see a part of my studio. I used only the following vintage analog synthesizers / instruments:

EMINENT 310 U (for the strings and pads with Small Stone)
KORG MINIPOPS 7 DRUMBOX
ARP ODYSSEY (brass-like lead sound)
KORG MS-20 (bass)
MOOG MICROMOOG for the sequencer sound, white noise FX and the lead sound with ELECTRIC MISTRESS flanger.

I uploaded this cover track already two months ago on YouTube, but I was not 100% satisfied, so I remixed it again - this version sounds far better and it's also longer.

It took three days to record and mix this track. Recording and mixing was doing digitally with LOGIC - I also used the reverb and delay plugins - as well as some equalizer plugs.

Sure, JMJ used not exactly the same instruments - (I don't have a RMI or an ARP 2600). However, the ARP Odyssey that I used is the small brother of the 2600 and its basic sound is similar). For the RMI sounds I used the Micromoog, which has very fast envelopes.

Music reproduced by kind permission of Jean Michel Jarre, see

http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=PL&am... - thank you Jean-Michel!

As a big JMJ fan I always wanted to make a very good OXYGENE 4 cover - as a maxi-single version, that never existed. For all JMJ fans (including me), here it is...

There are many Oxygene 4 covers on YouTube... but to come as close to the original as this, you need analog equipment - you will not get such a sound from digital stuff, vst plugins...

It is recorded in stereo, enjoy it... "
