Arp 2600P Synth - Rick Powell Collection

via this auction

"This unit is part of the Rick Powell Collection. Rick was a musician, a major producer and a contemporary and close friend of Bob Moog, among others, and often received original units from manufacturers to test in the studios. Rick was my studio partner up until the day he passed away and his wife has asked me to sell some of the items that were studio kept for many years.

There are many treasures in this collection and we will be adding them as they are photographed, tested and cataloged."

Les Fradkin - Liberty (Steve Vai Cover)

"Les Fradkin, the virtuoso of MIDI Guitar, presents "Liberty" from his "One Link Between Them" CD.

Robert Fripp once remarked in Guitar Player Magazine: "There is a new music to go with this new instrument. Therein lies my interest in the guitar synthesizer. That something entirely new will appear." This COULD be it! Come have a look and listen to the MIDI Guitar sound of the future.

This is a cover of the Steve Vai classic guitar instrumental "Liberty" which was originally recorded by Steve Vai on his "Passion & Warfare" album. In this video, Les Fradkin is playing the Starr Labs Ztar MIDI Guitar in his Neo Classical Bach influenced style - two handed tapping of the famous Steve Vai composition with a shred guitar sample with feedback that has to be heard and seen to be believed! Perfectly in sync with 4th of July fireworks.

This video clip was recorded LIVE on July 4, 2008 at Rhyolite National Park in Castle Rock, Colorado at
Les' July 4th live concert.

"This National Anthem montage was used in several TV stations when they signed off/on. I remember seeing this on my local stations KCOP and KABC in the early-mid 80s. Note that the Star Spangled Banner is performed on a Moog Synthesizer with brass horns. Please forgive the poor quality of this! I will re-post this clip once I find a better version.

KORG MS-50 vintage analog modular synth expander

SN 190235 via this auction

"The MS-50 is an impressive, compact modular synthesizer. Korg thought to cram one of everything into this beast--so it has the standard modules (VCO, VCF, LFO, VCA, mixer, ADSR), but also a second AR envelope with trigger delay, S/H, ring modulator, inverter, voltage source, pulse divider (great for sub-oscillator use or dividing LFO or trigger sources), envelope follower, headphone amp, an extra VCA, a VU meter, and a few multiples. The oscillator is very flexible, with two attenuated FM inputs, PWM input, and the ability to track V/Oct or Hz/V. The LFO is similarly fully featured, with frequency and PWM inputs. Sound wise, the filter is similar to the MS-10, making the MS-50 a nice complement to the MS-20."

Analog synth Health Club synthesizer

via these auction
"This is Health Club Music's handmade analog synthesizer, Switcheroo.

On the go, on a rope, and on four feet.

Go to --> www.healthclub-music.com/switcheroo.htm for mp3 demos and more photos!

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING AND AGREEMENTS.

The Switcheroo features:

2 Voltage controlled oscillators (VCO), scaled to 1v/Octave
1 Voltage-controlled filter (self-oscillating and 1v/Octave too)
1 Attack-Release envelope generator
1 Low-frequency oscillator (LFO)
1 Voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA)
1 Envelope follower (that can trigger the envelope)
1 MIXER
1 White Noise generator

We're sure that when you have it in your hands,
your ears become a lollipop concept
and your hands will be switching patches like witches.

Some details about the features:

-->The original filter on the circuit was tweaked so that it self oscillates to get you the sine wave--you can hear it on tracks 2 and 4 on the website's playlist.

-->You can play the oscillators and the filter with your favorite CV keyboard.

--->The up/down switch on the Envelope Follower inverts the shape of the output. You can plug in a guitar, keyboard, drum machine, etc. into the envelope follower and it can modulate the VCA, oscillators, and filter! It also triggers the envelope generator, the Gate knob acts as the sensitivity of the follower to trigger the envelope generator.

--> The AR envelope can loop internally, so it acts like an LFO. It is very enjoyable and is used ALOT. When the EF (Envelope Follower) switch is on the down position, it is switched to this internal loop mode. When it is switched up, it triggers from the EF.

The synth circuit design is based on Ray Wilson's design. For more PCBs and analog synths, go to www.musicfromouterspace.com

MORE INFO ON THE WEBSITE. DON'T FORGET TO GO TO www.healthclub-music.com/switcheroo.htm

Includes 12vAC adapter. Please contact for more questions, at least 12 hours before auction's end or it may not be answered.
We will ship worldwide. US buyers pay $33.00 USPS, UK and Europe buyers pay $45.00, insurance included for international buyers."

4015 R 2 R 4069 Distortion

YouTube via wonkythomas

"My 4015 Lunetta Shift Register feeds a crude 2 input R2R network. A simple glide cct. smears the CV before it hits the Bi-N-Tic V/Octave input.

The 4015 & R2R network make a great sequencer. I am using 2 40106 clocks, 4024 Divider & 4017 Decade Counter to step the Shift Register, feed the Data input (High or Low) & the reset input. Even tho the 2 input R2R can only produce a handfull of notes by varying the inputs into quite a nice, varying pattern is generated. I think The final R2R module will be 4 input with the Range pot which controls how much voltage is pased thru the op-amp & a simple Lag / Glide generator using the other half of the Dual op-amp package. The simple lag will have its I/O brought out to the panel rather than being hard wired to the R2R.

A distortion & filter (tone control really) based on the Bug Brand Workshop Oscillator Machine dirtys (!?!) up the Bi-N-Tic. This is a really simple, but really, really nice design. I have made 3 changes to the cct. just to customize it to my purposes.

I plan to build this into a Lunetta module first, but it sounds so good it may end up adapted into a 'proper' Frac unit as well as its a very differant sound to the CGS Wave Folders / Multipliers I already have. Seeing as how the cct. only uses 2 of the 6 gates on the 4069 chip its a very economical module :-D

Its a very messy breadboard of two potential modules! I am trying out a demo of the LochMaster 3.0 stripboard layout program so hopefully tomorrow I'll build the 4069 Hex Distortion Module."

"Screaming angels is available to buy on Etsy.com here:

http://www.SymetriColour.etsy.com

Screaming Angel produces 6 triangle waves at similar but generally unrelated pitches so produces atonal sounds. The pitch of each triangle wave is controlled by its own light detector. These are paired off into 3 waves in the left channel and 3 waves in the right.

Keep your eyes peeled as there are 3 more flavours to come."

Accidental Polysynth

YouTube via MusicMiK
"Today, i played around a bit with the impressively simple VCO design of the Korg Trident. Analyzing some of its behaviour and adding sync between 2 of them with just one diode, i decided to add a 24db low pass filter also, which is inspired by the AAC Tiracon 6V filter.
By this, i sort of accidentally created a nearly complete and very simple synthesizer voice. Everything is linear controlled, but for a polysynth, i could use a multiplexed exponential converter like Korg did in the 80s.
Adding some analog switches, noise, maybe sub oscillators, this will give a very simple polysynth i think.
I will continue on this and i'm planning to make it an open source/hardware project for everyone interested in it."

"this is a fantastic new anime in japan, it's not just the keyboards but all the instruments which are real. check the les paul, etc.

"keion" means "light music" in japanese, and most high schools have a keion club where the girls meet to play rock, pop and punk music. at my school they are quite a popular club, and in the future i am hoping to help some of the bands get some decent recordings."
