Live From Waves of Inspiration. The Legacy of Moog

via the Museum of Making Music:

"Live at the Museum of Making Music plus your chance to get an autographed Bob Moog Foundation 2010 Calendar

We're here in Carlsbad, CA enjoying the opening weekend of our first full exhibit of Bob Moog's Archives, Waves of Inspiration. The Legacy of Moog., at the Museum of Making Music. Last night the museum opened its doors for a private opening for its members. The response was enthusiastic and everyone was impressed with the depth and breadth of materials displayed. Tonight we're thrilled to attend a musical celebration of the public opening of the exhibit with synth legends Keith Emerson and Erik Norlander.

You can join us tomorrow by streaming the discussion Conversations in the Key of Moog with Brian Kehew (The Moog Cookbook, The Who) and Larry Fast (Synergy, Peter Gabriel). Just visit the www.MuseumOfMakingMusic.org at 1:00PM PST (4:00PM EST) to see the live video.

To celebrate the occasion, we're giving away two of our brand new 2010 Bob Moog Foundation calendars that have been signed by several of our "rockstar" guests this weekend. To get one of these calendars for free, all you have to do is spread the word about the live talk tomorrow on your Twitter or Facebook pages and send us an email letting us know.

How to Play Kraftwerk Trans Europe Express Tutorial

"This is a quick tutorial for Kraftwerk's Trans Europe Express. It's not intended to be an exact replication of the original recording, but a simple version that captures the essence of the song.

I don't recommend using the fingering shown in the video. I was trying to most clearly show the keys I'm hitting.

I didn't spend a whole lot of time making this video - thanks to everyone who has provided such positive feedback so far!

Tempo is 105 bpm.
These are the notes:

Chords (Bass is Eb when playing): BbEb EbAb AbDb DbGb GbB BE BbEb

"Roland TR-707 with added pitch controls for ALL drum sounds/groups.
Each pitch control has a bypass switch and a bi-color (red/blue) LED to indicate pitch status. There is also a 12 point circuit-bending patch bay (stackable banana jacks, when these are activated you can generate a variety of ring-mod, distorted and bit reduced, and delayed effects. Blue LED color change and improved layout give this 707 a cool new look. Also check out the audio samples on our web site. Audio Samples are at: www.circuit-bent.com"

Waldorf Blofeld S&H Distortion

via Boele of SCD:

This is one single Blofeld patch, without external processing (well only AIFF-mp3 conversion)

My two hands, a Blofeld keyboard and it's modwheel was all it took.

I find the warm distortion Blofeld can produce really unbelievable. I have a few distortion, fuzz and overdrive pedals here (analog and tube driven), but Blofeld just doesn't need them :-)

The rhythmic effect in the track is caused by a Sample and Hold LFO modulating the filter cutoffs and filter panning, where LFO sync is on (all LFOs start at the same phase).

What a machine..."

Polymoog Resonantor Clone PCB preview

via JH

"I'm taking pre-orders for these PCBs now.

(See http://www.jhaible.de/resonator/resonator.html for details about the project.)

Pricing is EUR 27.00 per board plus a single EUR 6.00 shipping flat charge for worldwide shipping, regardless how many boards you are ordering and where you live.

It does *not* include any customs fees or tax that you may (or may not) have to pay in your county.

What you get is a double-sided printed circuit board with component overlay, approx. size 160mm x 100mmm.

You have to buy the electronic components for this, and build the device, yourself. (Check the above website regularly for updates and building hints, bill of matrials etc.)

I reserve the right to cancel orders if a certain number of total orders isn't reached.

But I will not take any money before I actually have th emanufactured boards in my hands!

If you want to place a pre-order, please send me an email to the following adress:

jhaible debitel.net

and use the FOLLOWING FORM (fill in your data instead of [], for instance: "2 Boards" instead of "[quantity] Boards")

===== Start of Email Order Form ===============

Email Subject line: Polymoog Resonator order: [quantity] boards

Email text:

I'm ordering [quantity] pieces of the Polymoog Resonator PCB for EUR 27.00 per board + EUR 6.00 single shipping flat charge for any number of boards.

I'm aware that I may have to pay additional amounts of customs and tax in my country.

I'm also aware that I'm only buying blank PCBs that may help me building an electonic module - I'm *not* buying a diy kit, not a "project" - just pieces of FR4 with copper traces.

I know how to build electronic circuits and I am trained in electrical safety matters.

The seller of these PCBs will not be held responsible for any damage that results from these PCBs, directly or indirectly.

LFO AM

LFO AM from Pete Shambler on Vimeo.

"Using the Sine out of our new Tip Top Z3000 VCO to modulate the top channel of a Doepfer A-132-3, the input of which is a fixed tone from a Plan B ELF LFO.

The Stepped Out of a Wogglebug is controlling the Z3000's pitch, which is set low enough to act as an LFO.

The Clock Out from the Wogglebug is triggering a Doepfer A-160 Clock Divider, the /4 output of which is gating an A-140. The envelope from the A-140 is modulating the other 132-3 channel, the input of which is the Colored output of the A-118.

So far so good with the Z3000! I look forward to running it through the paces, as this is the first proper VCO in our system. Very exciting!

I apologize for the audio and video being a hair out of sync. If at all possible, ignore it.
