Red Martian at the New Wave Modular Synthesizer PNW AES Meeting

YouTube via matrixsynth.

Note his comment on orchestrating it. The laptop plays the sequence while Stephen edits the four voices in real time - listen for the subtle tweaks. The laptop only plays MIDI notes. The patches and editing are done by Stephen. In later videos he plays the Syntar. Be sure to see this post for more classical pieces featuring the MMM by Stephen and of course try a search here on MATRIXSYNTH on Red Martian or redmartian for more.

"Final version with the Bitplant GUI! CycleOn is a real-time playback system for ReCycle REX loops. This combinator based instrument patch is designed to create live performance and DJ Style effects using Propellerhead Software Record + Reason 4.0. No sequencing is required, and loops start and stop in sync with the transport. Used in conjunction with a control surface, CycleOn patches form the foundation of a compelling performance piece."

"InkQuencer is a step-sequencer that plays music based on camera input.
People can draw patterns on paper and then play back the pattern by holding
the drawing in front of the camera.
The program receives the images from the camera and draws a saled down,
32 by 30 pixel isometric version. On each beat from the metronome, the
scrubber runs through a new column of pixels and plays a sound if the pixel
is black."

Endangered Audio Modular Synth Line

via Endangered Audio:

"You'll notice that not only are we making a Gristleizer module, but also we have in development a VCO based on the LFO heartbeat of the Gristleizer. The analog delay is based on an older design and is very unique-sounding. The bias control adds "dirt" and harmonics to the delays; overall it sounds more like an Echoplex with more control. The delay module will also be available in a pedal version. We are also remaking the ARP 1601 sequencer and a ring modulator. All modules are in Eurorack form and have the ability to run off of both Analog Systems and Doepfer power modules."

Blip2000

via Blip2000
"Shure you know the Bliptronic5000® or the Tenori-On™. If the first one lacks MIDI and the second one is too expensive for you, you might try this VST-version of a matrix step sequencer.

Every column corresponds to one step, each line represents a note. Just click the buttons to enable the notes to be played. The orange line runs thru while playing. Select the number of steps to play (2-16), the speed in relation to the host clock, the direction (forward, backward, random etc.). Blip2000 outputs MIDI notes, so you can use your favourite synth (-plugin) as the sound source. MIDI channel, note length and velocity can be set.
With the fields on the left side you can adjust any scale to be played - or use Blip2000 as a drum sequencer!"

Red Square Paia Jam

YouTube via shaolinskater
"A simple sequence. The TR 606 is running the Doepfer MAQ 16/3 which is in turn controlling the Red Square. The Paia is being run by the SH 101's sequencer. The SH 101 is synced through the use of the TR 606's high tom gate output."

Modular Synth Fun

"My first upload(again). Just messing around with the gear. The synths include:
Roland SH-101
Analogue Solutions Red Square
Paia 9700 modular.
The patch is self contained, meaning all the changes in pitch, volume, etc. are generated from within the synths, no external controllers are used(the SH 101 is running on it's internal arpeggiator). This particular patch uses the classic noise source to sample & hold to produce the random voltages. For a little extra flavor, I routed the output of the S&H back into the frequency control input of the LFO that was triggering the S&H. This created random voltages at random speeds...fun! Thanks for watching!"

Native Instruments Scarbee Vintage Keys

via Native Instruments

"Introducing four all-time classic electric keyboards with an authentic sound you have not heard before. These soulful, funky and dynamic instruments have been sampled to perfection and recreate the genuine character of the originals down to the finest nuances. All models are available individually or get all four together in the SCARBEE VINTAGE KEYS bundle, saving you 40%*.

The SCARBEE MARK I delivers an unrivalled reproduction of one of most sought-after electric pianos of all time. Perfect for jazz, funk, fusion and R&B, and versatile enough for any production where authentic electric piano is essential.

The classic character of the SCARBEE A-200 goes from a warm and mellow vibraphone-like chime to a bright and 'barking' overdriven sound when played harder. Much loved by pop and rock bands in the 1960s and 70's and has recently found favor with a whole new wave of artists.

This instrument contains the sounds of the legendary Hohner Clavinet** with its sharp, percussive bite and the twangy Hohner Model N Pianet** - both expertly sampled by Scarbee and brimming with the unique character and funky feel of the originals."

YouTube via RothHandle
"Today was another one of those bits and pieces days...even though I got a lot of stuff done it feels a bit like session pop corn...This is like a continuance from yesterdays session sorting out ideas and recording them..

This films shows me doing treatments on Staphans lead vocal recorded yesterday.

This film was recorded at Roth Händle studos in Stockholm, Sweden. This is where I spend my days recording and producing artists...The studio started in my apartment and evolved slowly from there. This is the forth location of the studio. The first one obviously was at home...the second and third was at a abandoned shipyard outside of Stockholm. If you are curious to find out more about the studio please visit www.roth-handle.nu for more info, blogs and odd facts.

Thanks for watching,
