Cheetah MS6 multitimbral mode demo track part 1

YouTube via michal23pl — April 17, 2010 — "this track was created with only one program in multitimbral mode of cheetah ms6. including drums, arpeggiator and single voice pads. envelopes are fast enough to make a proper kick, snare and hihats. only additional chord pads were overdubbed on separate track.

everything was recorded and processed with strictly analog and mostly vintage gear (obviously excluding dumping ready track onto computer). mutitracked on 1/4 inch tape recorder. stereo field is not impressive beacuse cheetah has a single out only and all multitimbral sequence was recorded at once. sequenced by yamaha rm1x. gentle spring reverb added. thanks for listening."

YouTube via dolphinicus — April 17, 2010 — "This is the beta version of the new version I designed for creating a hihat sound, from analog electronics. At times unpredictable, this little guy produces a range of modulatable sounds that you may never have heard before from any module with his 7 osc.'s and 6 CV inputs. The panel is missing labelling, which I will soon add."

Double darkness (Plogue Bidule + 2 Doepfer Dark Energy + Audacity)

YouTube via GruithuisenCityMan — April 17, 2010 —

"Hello ! My name is Frederic Gerchambeau. I have made this movie and this music. The music has been made with Plogue Bidule sequencing 2 Doepfer Dark Energy. The sounds of these 2 Doepfer Dark Energy has been reintroducted into Plogue Bidule in order to permit the 2 Doepfer Dark Energy to ring modulate together. The all thing has been made in one take and has been a little bit edited with Audacity (short stereo delay abd reverb added). Enjoy !"

Therevox

spotted on craiglist by Shawn J. Note the logo placement on this one is different. See the Therevox label at the bottom of this post.

"Do You Want the REAL "Good Vibrations" Instrument?

NOW YOU CAN HAVE AN EXTREMELY RARE ELECTRO-THEREMIN!
Easier to Play Than a Theremin--------Sounds Identical to a Theremin--------More Features.

Theremins produce an amazing tone, something between a human voice and a violin. They are played by waving your hands in the air near them. Because they have no strings, no keys, no keyboard, no valves, no fretboard, etc., theremins are considered one of the most difficult instruments to play. As a result, it is usually relegated to making science fiction swoops and sweep nosies. The Electro-Theremin, often called the Tannerin, is an electronic musical instrument developed by trombonist Paul Tanner and amateur inventor Bob Whitsell in the late 1950s to produce a sound that mimics the theremin. Tanner appreciated the theremin's sound, but wanted greater control of pitch and attack. The Electro-Theremin uses mechanical controls, a long slide bar for the pitch and a knob to adjust volume. The result was an instrument that sounded just like a theremin but, for the first time, was easy to play.

Perhaps the most famous piece of music using an electro-theremin was the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations." Most people think a theremin was used, but actually it was Tanner playing his custom instrument. He also played it on the theme for the 1960s TV series, "My Favorite Martian."

No big company has ever made an electro-theremin.
A few have been hand made, including this one by Mike Beauchamp.
He is no longer making them and only made about 20 of them total.
He called his design the "Therevox."

The original electro-theremin only used a sine wave for the output. This Therevox uses either the traditional sine wave or a tonally richer triangle wave. It also has the ability to adjust the "slope" of the waveform, giving you the ability to modify the sound even more, thus making this the most advanced electro-theremin ever built. It has a standard audio out on the back, and on the top it has something no other electro-theremin has ever had, a CV out, making this a powerful controller for analog synthesizer modules.

As you can see in the photo, attached to the bar is a white puck. This puck slides along the bar and an indicator points to a printed keyboard. By sliding the pointer along the bar you can hit precise notes every time. There are dials on the top for coarse and fine tuning so you can quickly adjust this to any key or pitch range.

Only used in the studio. Was used by the band RiceRokit for their version of "Bela Lugosi's Dead."

Dimensions:
Width: 27.5 inches
Depth: 11 inches
Height: 3 inches
This unit is the size of a small keyboard. Very light weight.

Comes with a custom fit, padded carry bag and power supply."
