New D-50 patches

YouTube via TheSynthFreq — April 19, 2010 — "Here is a improv video of some new patches I wrote for the Roland D-50 linear synthesizer. The bass patch used in the last song was a preset on the Yamaha DX-9 FM synthesizer. I have had this DX-9 for about 4 days and I am really enjoying getting into FM synthesis and understanding the Fourier series as well as using sine waves to create sounds. It is a big adjustment though , since the DX series synths do not have a filter since modulation between the oscillators create complex frequencies that are controlled with modulation instead of an actual dedicated cutoff frequency. I really like how sidebands in FM sound so cool. Sidebands are actually aliasing and are most of the time not wanted, but it just sounds so awesome for metallic sounds.
Please enjoy!

Nodal 1.0.7 Triggering Demo

YouTube via pmcskeeter — April 19, 2010 — "This demo shows a number of exciting features that have been added to Nodal. First networks can be triggered with a MIDI note. In the example, a MIDI keyboard is used and represented with a Max/MSP patch showing what keys a currently depressed. The triggering feature also includes velocity scaling so that networks can be played at a range of dynamics.
The second feature is the ability to program in pitchbend CC messages, The long held notes at the end of the networks have a pitchbend curve on them, one of which is shown in the inspector window.

Nodal 1.0.7 is not yet released but we are very excited about the musical potential of this software and will be releasing it soon."

Modular Recreation

YouTube via BiggaBMusic — April 19, 2010 —
Anyone know what the turntable effects unit is?

Update via Lojak in the comments: "The dj effect unit is a Pioneer EFX-500. DJ Shadow used to use these for live performance. Not sure if he still does."

Something you've probably never seen done with an emx and kp3

YouTube via gavin916freak — April 19, 2010 — "well for one I used a 3/4 beat so that sets this video apart from 90% of the others. but mainly I didn't use any synths I sent the auxilory from my mixer back into the korgs input and then used the feedback for the audio in+comb synth mode. then I sent that into a kp3 and Fcked it up. its not pretty, its not cool, its not normal, and its definitely not pop. But do let me know what you think, I have other tracks on my myspace aswell www.myspace.com/psychramento"

METAL PLANET by circuitbend.it

YouTube via eraser801 — March 30, 2010 — Metal Planet
an original electronic instrument made by two circuit bent guitar pedals:
- a Rocktron digital distortion
- a Fab Echo delay

The circuit of these pedals have been linked and housed in a "laptop toy" case. It can be use like an experimental musical instrument.
It has interesting bending controls:

-on/off Distortion
-on off Delay
-delay time pot
-feedback delay pot
-oscillator pot
-several BODY CONTACTS (to create feedbacks, tones, noise)
-8 momentary buttons (to create distorted tones, distorted feedbacks, 8bit sounds)

METAL PLANET is a creation of EraSer by www.circuitbend.it"

via this auction

"The M3X is a hand-built, drift-free, MIDI-controlled, rack-mount analog synthesizer from Scottish synth designer Ken MacBeth.
The M3X is similar to the Minimoog in that it features three oscillators and a transistor-ladder filter for warm analog sounds in a simple, streamlined package, although the M3X goes beyond the original Moog.
The M3X has been designed to operate via MIDI or traditional 1V/Octave control voltage input and output, as well as the standard S Trig interface as used by many analog systems.
The M3X has three dedicated oscillators, each with five waveform types and user selectable destinations including cross-modulation capabilities.
In addition to the oscillators, there is a noise generator and an external audio input amp for processing other synths or sound sources.
The filter section is a transistor-ladder type similar to that used in the Moog synthesizers and sounds totally warm and at times harsh (a good harsh).
It offers 24dB/oct low-pass filtering with controls for frequency cutoff, resonance, envelope amount, attack, decay/release and sustain.
The VCA amplifier also features attack, decay/release and sustain controls.
The Mixer section offers volume controls for each of the oscillators, noise generator and external audio input plus a master volume.
The digital menu system provides access to the MIDI, LFO, Portamento, and various tuning and scaling parameters.
Absolutely simple, hands-on and easy to understand but full of big beefy analog sounds."
