Lost In Time by TSF

YouTube via TheSynthFreq | August 13, 2010

"Hi :)
Here is my new song written today. This song is a "draft" that will be completed and re-uploaded once a few parts are finalized.
The Roland Alpha Juno-1 is controlled by Midi so that its bass patch is controlled by the EMX-1 and timing is precise.
To sequence the bass line, I played the Juno-1 (out to in of the EMX) and recorded it to the EMX. From there I turned the volume down on the [synth] part [1] so that the Juno is the only synth heard, not the EMX.
Another new sound that I wrote on the EMX [synth part 4], is "spaced" sound using the random LFO routed to the pitch of the oscillators in the EMX and the FX send is set to delay/echo.
D-50- a new patch I wrote for it, that is warmer and has more saturation of chorus and reverb through it. T5 of the TVA has been set to T5=65, for the ADSR.

Please enjoy! :)

:) TSF"

Yuichi Onoue(尾上祐一) "Ribbon Space" played on Ribbon Controller

YouTube via TorigoyaSound | September 21, 2006

"Yuichi Onoue plays his original tune "Ribbon Space" by handmade Ribbon Controller.
Studio live in 2002.

This handmade electric musical instrument can change a oscillator pitch smoothly, depending on the place which you press down. Ribbon Controller was originally made as a kind of MOOG SYNTHESIZER's controller in late 60's. I made this following its example. And playing style is self-taught.

This ribbon controller hooked up to simple analogue oscillator. The frequency of the oscillator changes in the value of electric resistance. Electrically, This ribbon controller is just an electric variable resistance. Not a midi box.

Son of Storm Tide Flanger demo

YouTube via sduck409 | August 13, 2010

"Jurgen Haible Son of Storm Tide Flanger demo. Sorry - I mispronounce "flanger" - I somehow learned this incorrect pronounciation when I was a kid and have been repeating it ever since. The boring and annoying repeating sequence you hear for the whole 11 minutes was created with a klee sequencer driving 2 basic voices - the lower one is a motm 300 vco into a Low Pass Gate, the higher one is a Ian Fritz Double Dekka vco into a motm 190 vca, no filters on either, no other processing. Except for the boring talking part at the beginning, sound was recorded directly into adobe soundbooth, with no added effects."

"Twisted Squarewaves, Analog Drums, Chord-to-Rezzy Acid...... Push it really hard for meltdown analog sounds and Glitch Noises.

It does get a bit un-predictable when you really push it.

Instrument-to-pitch & Chord-to-pitch knobs create screwed up squarewaves, monged out rhythms and weird envelope effects.

Instrument-to-chord switches create bizzare and dirty new instrument waveforms.

Loads of glitching, feedback and modulation convert the chord & chord-rhythms to Rezzy Acid sounds.

Multi-coloured Metallic paint job on the keys, changes colour depending on what angle the light hits it.

MT-18 is almost identical to the PT-80, with larger keys and slightly different componants inside."

Moogfest 2010 :: Bob Moog :: Abominatron

YouTube via MoogMusicInc | August 13, 2010

"This Moog Music Inc. promo for Moogfest 2010 features audio of Bob Moog provided by the Bob Moog Foundation www.moogfoundation.org. The audio is from a tape that was donated to the Foundation by pioneering synthesist Herb Deutsch, who collaborated with Bob on the first prototype modular-- the Abominatron. In the 84 minute tape, Bob methodically explains the functions of the modular. Bob took piano for many years as a young person, and could readily play, although he was very modest about his ability. He made a nearly innocent statement in this clip that others with more musicianship could get "some good things" out of the instrument-- it is a sincerely prophetic statement. The Abominatron II, a 6' 7" tower of Moog Music's hand-crafted synthesizers and effects pedals will be featured on-stage during Moogfest 2010, a 3 day music festival featuring Massive Attack, Devo, Thievery Corporation, Big Boi, MGMT and many others. Tickets are on sale now at www.moogfest.com!"

Musical greetingcard drummachine, first tests

I was using my 4017/4066 sequencer wich is gating a hallmark musical greetingcard wich plays the song "twist and shout" by the Top notes. I used 2 oscillators and a xor gate to affect the timing resistor causing the pitched sound.

Going to try multiple cards and more messing with the timing resistor next."

POLYFUSION SOUND-A-ROUND QUAD PANNER QP-1

via this auction
"THIS IS THE ONE PINK FLOYD WOULD USE TO PAN THE SOUND EFFECTS AROUND THE CONCERT HALL IN QUAD

IT CAN ALSO BE USED TO REDIRECT CV SIGNALS TO YOUR MODULAR SYNTH.

This vintage Polyfusion quad panner, model QP-1, is very rare- there were only a couple of hundred ever made. It is the Holy Grail for Polyfusion modular synth owners , but would also be of interest to anyone who owns a recording studio or quad P.A. system. It features a joystick with amazing real time control, which allows you to move the sound from any quadrant to any other quadrant instantly, reverse direction, etc. There is also an auto and manual mode, which lets you do this either way. It was made famous by Pink Floyd, who still use it in their live show- it is what they use to move the sound around so convincingly on their quad system."

AUTOMATIC MODE USES A BUILT-IN LFO TO AUTOMATE THE PANNING. SPEED AND DEPTH KNOBS WORK PERFECTLY.
1 OR 2 CONTROL VOLTAGE PEDALS CAN BE PLUGGED IN TO ALLOW FOOT CONTROL OF SPEED AND DEPTH KNOBS
VERY CLEAN CONDITION
ALL LIGHTS WORK

Novamusik.com - Malekko Ekko 616 Guitar Pedal

YouTube via Novamusik | August 13, 2010
Novamusik
"Jayk Burczyk plays a couple riffs with the Malekko Ekko 616 guitar pedal. We also used a Vox AC4TV8 Amp mic'ed with a Blue Encore microphone.

Malekko says:

650ms Analog Delay Pedal

For years, Malekko has been synonymous with the best quality BBD delays available. Today the evolution continues with the EKKO 616, a full featured yet compact delay with external modulation controls, an optional buffer, internal level pot and 650ms of pure analog bliss!

The E616's specially voiced repeats allow a larger bandwidth to pass than most traditional analog delays. Turn the mix pot all the way up and the repeats will be slightly louder than the dry signal if needed, allowing greater flexibility. The regeneration pot will take you from a simple slapback to a nice gentle decay of a few repeats then all the way to taking off into outer space with just a turn of the pot! Engage the modulation button and the Malekko EKKO 616 takes on a whole new personality, from subtle chorusing or beautiful vibrato to way WAY beyond. The EKKO 616 also allows you to select your type of bypass between buffered or true bypass. Tired of annoying volume drops? An internal trimpot (labeled "gain") will allow you to set the EKKO 616's level to your specific setup.

At Malekko, we didn't set out to make a carbon copy of anything. Instead of looking backwards, we designed a new and visionary analog delay from the ground up.
Operates on a 9V battery or optional 9VDC neg tip regulated power supply."

Note: Yes these are effects pedal and guitar demos. These get the post because it's Malekko and the synth connection with their eurorack modules is there. It's interesting to see what else they have to offer.

Novamusik.com - Malekko Fuzz

Novamusik | August 13, 2010

"Jayk Burczyk plays a couple riffs with the Malekko Fuzz guitar pedal. We also used a Vox AC4TV8 Amp mic'ed with a Blue Encore microphone.

Malekko says:

Malekko Omicron Series analog fuzz pedal

We are super happy to introduce "FUZZ", the Malekko Omicron Series analog fuzz pedal.

This is our take on a classic Germanium diode based fuzz pedal of the past. It produces a wide range of fuzz tones in a super small enclosure. Very easy to use, the FUZZ has just two pots:

VOL, which increases the volume of the signal and is capable of producing a volume boost if so desired, and

DRIVE, which increases the fuzz amount...go ahead, turn it up!!!

But that's not all- simply flip the pedal over, unscrew the four retaining screws (screwdriver not included), and remove the bottom cover to reveal a tiny three-position switch on the upper left-hand side! This mini switch unleashes the true power of the FUZZ! Position 1 (up) gives you a sweet octave fuzz. Position 2 (down) gives you a heavier "scooped" tone. Engineered to be searing and musical, both of these classic fuzz tones will inspire you to play and play. That's two killer tones for one low price!

But wait! There's more! Place the internal switch in the middle position and you activate tones 1 & 2 at the same time!! This parallel arrangement is SUPER HEAVY AND CRUSHING!! INCREDIBLE! Now how much would you pay?

You get the mini enclosure, the classic octave tone 1, the classic thick tone 2, and the new modern Malekko monster tone 3- all for the low, low price of $130!!

Are you tired of trying to fit one more effect pedal on your pedal board? You try this arrangement, you try that arrangement—but you can never find the room for them all! We're here to help! With Malekko's incredible super small pedals, there's always room for one more!

Runs off a 'standard' 9VDC neg tip regulated power supply (not included)."
