Roland SH-101 Analog Synthesizer from the year 1983

The SH-101is a very nice synth with great analog sound.
The sound is deep and powerfull. The SH-101 is perfect for very nice bass and lead sounds. The internal step-sequencer is pure fun."

MuTron III Guitar Bass Synth Pedal Envelope Filter

via this auction

"The unit was modified professionally; the battery clip was removed and a custom-built transformer was added in it's place. This enables the unit to run on standard 9VDC center-positive power input (rather than the original strange power supply), which is very handy in the mordern world; it will not run on batteries any longer. This aside, the unit is completely original with no mods or repairs.

There is cetainly a good reason that the Mutron III is such a highly regarded effect, that reason is that IT RULES. Envelope up or down, hi/lo/or bandpass filter, peak (Q) control, gain (threshold) control, oh man! Did you notice that it's built to withstand severe rock abuse and warfare? Hurry up and change your life with this pedal."

MuTron Phaser Guitar Bass Synth Pedal

via this auction

"What a great pedal!
It does two things that any great one should:
-works well
-sounds like magical mystery
For the geeks out there, it is worth noting that this very pedal is the first phaser design to use OTA components rather that FETs, resulting in a much clearer, less noisy effect than it's competitors."

MuTron Octave Divider Guitar Bass Synth Pedal

via this auction

"Ah, octave effects are such fun, and this one is no exception.
It is very smooth and natural-sounding with great tonal control overall.
Switch the "Ringer" control on for some added anger in your tone.
Use the "Aux" output on the back to split between two amps or two channels?
GET CREATIVE."

CGS / Bridechamber Suboscillator

via this auction

From the CGS site:

"Some ideas on how to use this module:

Fed by two VCO's it can operate as two independant sub-oscillators, with optional ring modulated outputs.

Running both sub-oscillators from the same VCO, tuned to a fifth over the base note you require, and with the prescaller set to divide by 3, it is possible to create harmonies. An unusual effect here is that the ring modulated outputs give a fatter chord-like sound that remains indepenant of minor or major scales, allowing "one finger chords" which can be handy when used with a related sequencer driven bass line.

Careful mixing of the ring modulated output with one channel's divided output results in some interesting sounds, especially if one of the channels is being driven from a low frequency oscillator. Running like this, it could be considered to be a "harmonic sequencer"

Running both inputs from the same LFO/clock signal, and feeding the mixed output into the 1V/oct input of a VCO gives you a pattern based sequencer, where the prescaler, ring modulated outputs, etc., all have a bearing on the pattern. Quite interesting patterns can be created this way. Each knob of course varies part of the overall structure, instead of a single note as per a regular step sequencer."

Module is MOTM / 5U high by 3U wide, requires standard +/- 15v MOTM power supply. Includes power cable and black mounting screws."

Images slightly enhanced (contrast, color ans sharpness) and sound remastered for improved clearity and stereo imaging.

Detail: it seems obvious that Jarre is not playing live but insstead playbacks the session. On 2:00 for example he seems to dial knobs randomly without result.
On 1:37 he clearly is not in sync with the actual phrase of the track (playing more notes). Enjoy this classic footage of Jarre. - Nimanty -"

The phaser is patched on the external loop of the delay, which means that the delayed signal that is fed back into the delay first goes through the phaser."

The Making of “Bob Moog Live” (Part 2 of 5)

Part 2 of the series is currently up at the Bob Moog Foundation website here.

"The first challenge we faced before our trio rehearsed even once was massive. Mike and I played by ear and memory, so when Bob asked for charts (his parts written out in music) Mike and I were not only scrambling for material that we hoped would be worthy, but then had to somehow write part of it down.
Mike had basic skills in reading and writing music, but I had none, and a fair amount of the music was mine..."

SONiVOX SHIPS VOCALIZER

"SONiVOX SHIPS VOCALIZER – Vocal Production Synthesizer
SONiVOX ships new technology synthesis engine coupled with input based synthesis delivers creative new tool for vocalists and non-vocalists alike.

SONiVOX, Boston MA, based award-winning music software company today announced the immediate worldwide availability of the first instrument from their new NEMESYNTH Audio Research Group, VOCALIZER - Vocal Production Synthesizer.

VOCALIZER is a completely new concept in modern music production that couples a new technology synthesis engine with an open input based architecture. VOCALIZER is one part effect plugin and one part virtual instrument. Vocalists, non-vocalists, & producers feed VOCALIZER any audio source, and it re-pitches, effects, and re-synthesizes the original source into a whole new sound.

Primarily designed for vocal use, vocalists will enjoy the vast options afforded by VOCALIZER to add previously unattainable dimensions to their voice. Inversely, non-vocalists will enjoy the opportunity to use their voices in musical ways that they previously thought impossible.

VOCALIZER also works well with other types of inputs. Drum & percussion tracks fed through VOCALIZER result in complex synth lines that perfectly sync to the original dry drum & percussion parts. Other input sounds afford a powerful and flexible new approach to sound design. VOCALIZER users can take any sound and use it as a shaping tool to be VOCALIZED.

The VOCALIZER marks the first release from SONiVOX’s NEMESYNTH Audio Research Group. Spearheaded by noted audio guru and scientist Jim Van Buskirk, pioneer inventor of the virtual instrument, modern computer driven sampling, and real-time low-latency convolution, SONiVOX’s NEMESYNTH Audio Research Group’s sole purpose is to discover, research, & develop revolutionary new enabling technologies for musicians everywhere.

VOCALIZER - Vocal Production Synthesizer is MAC & PC compatible and will work with most major DAW software as a VST, AU, and RTAS plugin.

VOCALIZER - Vocal Production Synthesizer is available now with a MSRP of $149.99 and an estimated street price of $99.99

SONiVOX claims that VOCALIZER must be heard to be believed and invites all to checkout the VOCALIZER videos and mp3 examples at www.sonivoxmi.com

5th Oldest Rare RA Moog Minimoog Serial 34

via this auction
"this is a very rare RA moog minimoog serial 34. from a research i did this is the fifth oldest minimoog in existence. it has a (drone) modification at the back and also cv/gate. it has the original cards inside. these are the same cards as in the moog iiic modular system. no chips inside this mini. only discrete components inside. ok i must admit its not the most stable synthesizer but i will throw in to the winning bidder an original moog buffer board kit in original moog factory bag never installed. the minimoog plays but will need a cleaning. i will ship worldwide if buyer pays for all shipping costs."

Madlibs Sparkdala Emu Systems SP 1200 Sampling Drum Machine

via this auction
"This is a true legend. Not just a drum machine but the first workstation, and still the best.

This is a sampling drum machine used on countless hit records mainly in the hip hop fraternity but also a cornerstone in house music. This particular one produced Madlibs Sparkdala and was manufacured March 1998 a specialist re-issue
from Emu systems number 55 of 125 made and is 100% faithful to 1987 original down to every last component. Serial No: 039805032

Has a floppy drive for storing and recalling samples and songs, also transfers samples over midi. Phat is the word here, SSM filter on outputs for warmth. Velocity sensitive pads, Midi Sync, SMPTE etc.. No dodgy buttons or scratchy pots. 8 Multi outs with SSM filtering. Detune samples on the fly

Cant really describe how rock solid its sequencer is or how slamming it makes beats but check out Diesel power by prodigy any Todd Terry track or Jays Z's dead presidents, you will see what its all about. Fantastic sequencer, and a breeze to use. Loads of info on the net about this awesome machine. This one has been serviced and had new pads from bruce forat in the States. Dont want to part with this and i will regret it, but space is a premium.

This is not a ten a penny peice but a slab of rare music history and an investment aswell as being an absolutely beautiful instrument."

BPM10: AirJ App Transmits Native MIDI Over Wifi

via Sonic State
"It may just look like a bit of fun, but it could have some quite professional applications. The AirJapp (£8.99) allows you to assign MIDI controls and events to actions of movements made with your iOS device. Whats more, according to our demonstrator, the device will show up as a native MIDI controller in Ableton, and presumably other DAWs.

Devices are available when the App is launched and they are connected to the same Wifi network. There is no actual limit to the number you could have - only the Wifi bandwidth is the issue.

The AirJ app is not available just yet, in the next couple of weeks we're told"
