"Melodeon B/C" - Button Accordion for the iPad

YouTube via tradlessons | October 18, 2010

"Here's a quick demo showing the sound and speed of my upcoming B/C button accordion app. The sound was recorded right from the iPad with my camcorder.

I don't currently play the button accordion, I'm just starting out learning to play using the app.

Here's the first tune I was able to pick out after playing with the app for about an hour.

There is also a C#/D version that will be released at the same time with a similar interface."

- Program Notes -

The beautiful work of Maurice Ravel is the second of his Trois Chansons for unaccompanied choir.

The music tells of a conversation between a woman and three beautiful birds from paradise, one blue, one white, and one red. The woman's beloved has gone off to war and she is asking the birds for news. The blue and white birds relay a gaze and a kiss respectively. The woman now queries the red bird and the red bird tell her of her beloved's death.

In this edition; the woman is the voice of the theremin, the blue bird is the trombone, the white bird is the second flugelhorn and the red bird is the tuba.

English Translation of the original French text:

Three beautiful birds of paradise,
(My beloved is away at war)
Three beautiful birds of paradise
Have passed by here,
The first was bluer than the sky,
(My beloved is away at war)
The second was the color of snow,
The third of reddest red.

"Lovely lottle birds of paradise,
(My beloved is away at war)
Lovely little birds of paradise,
What brings you here?"
"I bring a look from blue eyes,
(Your beloved is away at war)"
"And I, on your snow-white brow,
Am to lay a kiss, even purer."

Red bird of paradise,
(My beloved is away at war)
Red bird of paradise,
What do you bring?"
"A dear heart all crimson,
(Your beloved is away at war)"...
"Oh! I feel my heart growing cold...
Take it with you."

"**WATCH AT 720p FOR BEST QUALITY**

Exactly two years ago this month, NR started working on our first track, "Doppelgänger". Though we'd met only six months earlier, we already knew we were doppelgängers.

In celebration of the two amazing years it's been since we wrote this song, here's a video of us performing it 2010-style. You might notice that "The Great" is looking a bit greater-- we just introduced a drum pad and two electric pianos to the arsenal!"

"Roger Mayer is the electrical engineer who developed several electric guitar effects, most notably the Octavia, an effects pedal which reproduced the input signal one octave higher, and mixes the two sounds with some added fuzz. The effect was popularized by Jimi Hendrix, and can be heard during the solos on the song 'Purple Haze'."

General info:
"Jasuto Pro is worlds first (and most powerful) modular synthesizer for the iDevices. The Pro version includes everything that's in the cheaper Classic version and much more!

Jasuto Pro allows you to visually construct your own synths/effects, and use them to make sequences all on your device! With the addition of a fully-featured sampler you can now record/resample/edit, and even create entirely new samples by drawing right in the app.

Jasuto Pro uses the relative position of nodes and their connections to control the sound. So the scene not only represents the synthesis structure, but also a custom multi-touch control surface. Motion can be recorded per node giving you rich, flexible automation.

Connections can be created automatically by simply dragging nodes around, or manually. Each wire can be double-tapped to allow even more control of each connection.

Jasuto Pro comes installed with more than 45 modules. Each of the modules have been hand-optimized for your devices CPU, allowing you to create extremely complex scenes.

Jasuto Pro has a built-in FTP server, so you can efficiently transfer files to/from your device using your OS or FTP client. Also the new scene browser has the ability to download/upload/rate user created content from the ever growing community!

This year we had a Roland 808 and 303. An attempt was made to bake an audiowave inside, but it didn't quite come out as we planned.

Otherwise I think the cakes turned out pretty great, must say they were extremely sweet... It took about six hours to get them done, but was well worth it and great fun!
The cakes were made by Hanna, Wilhelmiina and Aino.

Hope you enjoy the pictures."

MOOG MUSIC ANNOUNCES FILTATRON APP NOW AVAILABLE FOR IPHONE AND IPOD TOUCH

The official press release:

"Real-Time Audio Filter and Effects Engine Brings Signature Moog Sound to iDevices for $4.99

ASHEVILLE, NC – October 18, 2010 – Moog Music today announced that Filtatron, the real-time audio effects engine and powerful studio tool, is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch on the iTunes App Store at:

Filtatron

Filtatron is much more than your average sound app. The heart of the Filtatron is the Moog Ladder Filter; digitally modeled to approximate the warmth and character of Moog’s analog hardware. It musically shapes the sounds supplied by the Filtatron’s on-board oscillator, sampler and line/microphone input.

“We’re pleased to offer the first ever Moog iPhone app,” said Mike Adams, President of Moog Music. “The Filtatron’s digitally modeled filter and sound sculpting tools will be the next generation of musician’s first introduction to the world of analog synthesis.”

Filtatron comes loaded with edgy presets that kick-start users’ sound explorations, running the gamut from cutting rhythms and ambient drones to out-there effects workouts. Filtatron also comes with an array of loopable samples, and users can use the Sampler to record and play their own unique sounds. The app contains a feature-packed effects module sporting an incredible sounding Delay, and Amp controls that provide tones ranging from warm analog overdrive to extreme distortion.

Key Features:

Moog Ladder Filter – Four pole resonant Moog Ladder Filter, with Lowpass and Highpass modes and adjustable cutoff and resonance parameters.

Oscillator – A high-resolution, alias-free DSP oscillator with sawtooth and square waveforms, adjustable frequency from 0.3 Hz to 2kHz.

LFO – Five waveforms: sine, ramp, sawtooth, square, sample & hold, with crossfade and morph between adjacent LFO shapes.

Envelope Follower – Uses the volume envelope of sound inputs to sweep the filter, with controls for amount and speed.

Amp and Delay FX Modules – Amp provides warm, smooth overdrive with feedback control. Delay can be modulated by its own LFO (with rate and depth controls) and delay time is smoothly interpolated for analog-style delay time tweaks.

File Sharing – Easily move audio files back and forth between the Filtatron and your computer. Audio Copy and Audio Paste enables sharing audio between the Filtatron and other compatible apps. Built-in email function allows sharing presets with other Filtatron users.

Record and Playback – All audio processed in stereo, 16bit, 44.1kHz resolution. Filtatron will record samples up to 10MB. Tap and Drag sets start and end points for seamless looping. Playback control can be adjusted from double-speed playback all the way down through zero to double-speed reverse.
