PPG Waveterm A and Wave 2.2 Wavetable Synthesizer from the year 1982.
The Waveterm is the heart of the legendary PPG system and based on an old german computer called Eltec Eurocom II with Motorola 6809 processor.

"In a classic arpeggiator, there is always a 1:1 relation between a clock pulse and the next played note. This means that ONE clock pulse triggers ONE note (next or previous). With the new STRETCH function, this can be modified in a way that the clock pulse is "multiplied" by a factor. Turning the "STRETCH" fully ccw, all works in the classic way, i.e. 1:1. When increasing "STRETCH"-pot, the arpeggiator starts skipping more and more notes and is of course folded back on the pattern. Therefore you can generate the most interesting pattern modifications from hurrying up and down the scales to reverse and random. The strech-factor starts smoothly with factors like 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.5 to control this feature very precisely." COTK

Here's the new Weevil08 - three lo-fi oscillators quasi-ringmodulated together, with PowerStarve, Filter, 9-point-TouchPlate and internal MiniAmp.
While the core Weevil circuitry is similar to the Postcard, the sonic results are quite different - for one, each Osc has a range switch for Hi tones or Lo clickety, and the output levels are much more stable due to a comparator circuit (don't worry - there's still loads of chaos within!). The combination of PowerStarve and responsive TouchPlate opens up a vast array of sounds that are played in a way unlike any other instrument. The internal MiniAmp is now a standard feature and gives a pretty different tone/response from the output jack. Plugging in a jack conveniently disconnects the internal MiniAmp.
This is a newly standardised version built with pro-PCBs for improved feel and replicatability, available in Green or Red with chunky knobs in a sprayed plastic case and running off a single 9V battery.
You can check the block diagram for details of the internal arrangement, but it may be best just to listen to the mp3 demo that wobbles through some of the wide-ranging sounds available!

- intro & outro filtered with xone vf1 (the blue button on the bottom left)
- some juno 106 on input A-B triggered with a thru machine and sequenced in Ableton Live in the begginig and at the end.
- very little out of sync 909 directly mixed on inputs C-D
- a lot of tracks have their own time signatures / lengths"

"After watching the first two Synth School videos you've probably realized that the entirety of synthesizer sound design is simply about taking a basic sound wave and reshaping it with basic tools like filters, amp envelopes, phase, other oscillators mixed in, etc. This week we'll look at the final piece of the SubTractor puzzle: LFOs and Performance Modifiers. When you're done this video you will have everything you need to start creating some seriously unique SubTractor patches. More importantly, you'll be ready to tackle the more complicated Malström Graintable synthesizer.
