Korg Wavestation Synth Signed/ Prev Owned by Red Flag?

via this auction

via the description:
"I purchased this awesome synth directly from the 80's synthpop band Red Flag, and had them sign it with silver ink on the rear panel. This board was used on several of their songs, and is honestly a rare piece of synth history! I am only the second owner, and have to part ways with this only because I am in some financial straits."

YouTube via dolphinicus | February 05, 2011 |

"This is the beta test build of Hexinverter's PCB of my Version 1.00 of the Liquid HiHat that I innovated back in 2008. It worked basically perfectly right off the bat.

In this vid. I give some brief ideas on how the unit sounds, with it's 2 x VCOs being modulated by 2 x triangle waveform LFOs as well as 1 x Attack / Decay envelope generator.

I have 2 modifications that I wish to do to this PCB. If either 1 or both of them are successful, the next PCB will be changed to reflect this - bumping it's version # up, to V3.00.

Along with all of the HORRIBLE volume changes due to my faulty mixer, I hope you're able to enjoy this vid. :) More vids of it should be coming as testing progresses. :)"

Swan Lake UVB Style

YouTube via Allerian1 | February 05, 2011 |

"You'll either get what's going on here or you'll just think, "???". Exciting stuff to me, perhaps to some of you as well.

I'm using the Elektron Octatrack to recreate the sound of the UVB-76 Swan Lake broadcasts. A combination of the Octatrack's filter distortion, SSR, BRR, and Lo-Fi Dist are animated with LFOs to approximate the broadcast. The distorted harmonics that appear are as disturbing as those in the original. Expect this UVB-76 project to happen mid-2011."

Snyderphonics MantaMate in the Works

via Snyderphonics:

"I am working hard on the MantaMate, a device that will allow Manta users to perform without a computer, and to directly control analog synthesizers. It will also be a powerful general-purpose converter between USB devices, MIDI devices, OSC over ethernet, and control voltage (supporting several voltage standards from Eurorack to Buchla to Moog to Serge to Korg). It even has a built-in digital synthesizer, so that it's possible to perform with only the Manta and a MantaMate. I don't have a set date for release right now, but stay tuned!"

Oscar Peterson's Yamaha CS80?

Probably the smallest pics of a CS80 you will ever see on this site. Via Craigslist Vancover, CA for $10000
"Yamaha CS-80 with service manual , manual and all technical docs.Sounds great, holds tuning well. The Tolex cover has a few scrapes and bruises but the functional areas are pristeen .The unit was never on the road. It was purchased from Oscar Peterson in 1981 when he built his Synclavier system, and owned till 1994 by Barry Warne, a local synth afficiondo and tech.I have owned it since then and have only used it occasionally on studio sessions . It has been kept in studio for the last 16 years. It is a truly unique beast.....Serious offers only, thanks"

The Benjolin - First Sound

YouTube via e7ektro | February 05, 2011 | 0 likes, 0 dislikes

"Info about the Benjolin can be found at http://web.me.com/klangbureau/DIY/Ben...

I ordered the SSM2164 (Low Cost Quad Voltage Controlled Amplifier) in Hong Kong. You can see the mail envelope in the video. I built two Benjolins. I plan to build a double Benjolin light synth like the one of Pete Edwards from Casperelectronics. But that may take some time."

"The Benjolin is a ‘noise box’ that is ‘bent by design’, meaning that it always has a definite amount of unpredictability while it is still intuitive to play. The Benjolin features two eighteen-octave range voltage controlled oscillators that drive a ‘rungler’ circuit, circuitry that in essence uses a special interference technique feeding back into the oscillators to force them into wild chaotic behaviour.

A special slightly chaotic filter is both excited and modulated by the signals from the rungler circuitry processes, producing sounds between fat drones to grungy noise havoc. The kit is somewhat more challenging to build compared to the Zeitgeist, but with a little patience and accuracy a beginner in DIY can definitely build it successfully."

I've been playing live synth around Bristol Bars recently and this is the latest cover track I've done. You can find the backing track on Soundcloud if you have a synth or piano and want to play along at home. Backing made using Battery 3, Arturia Minimoog & Atmosphere. Lead melody live on the Dave Smith Mopho. I love the little yellow thing - dead easy for carrying around."

Cableguys Curve

YouTube via CableguysOfficial | December 15, 2010 |

"Curve is a unique software synthesizer with editable waveforms and preset sharing. For Mac and Windows, as VST or AU."

http://www.cableguys.de/curve.html

"Cableguys have released Curve: a unique new software synthesizer based on editable waveforms and preset sharing.

Creating sounds with Curve is intuitive and immediate. The waveform editor is irresistible, and provides completely new possibilities for experimentation and detailed tweaking. Three powerful oscillators, three envelope generators, two filters and four LFOs work together in a sophisticated modulations matrix, all set out in a clear, uncomplicated user interface.

The other half of Curve exists outside the synthesizer. Curve's preset library is a shared online database, populated with your presets and those from other Curve users. This ever-growing, community-driven sound library provides users with a constant source of inspirational sound, and the opportunity to share, tag and rate sounds quickly and easily across the web.

The Curve community can also steer the future development of the synthesizer, as bug reports and feature requests are completely public at all times:

http://cableguys.uservoice.com

We, Cableguys, believe this is an essential aspect of Curve, and we're excited about where our users are going to take us."

"Also, we just introduced the Cableguys Bundle. It contains all our plugins (Curve, FilterShaper 2 and VolumeShaper 2). Until March 1st, it's available at an introductory price of EUR 129/USD 174. Afterwards, it will be EUR 149/USD 199. More on that:

http://www.cableguys.de

----

Users can add their feature wishes and vote on features for Curve, and the feature wishlist is public at all times:

http://cableguys.uservoice.com

I'd like to give you a overview of the major next steps that are planned for Curve:

- Until beginning of March we will add modulation for LFO speed. A first implementation is done and just needs fine-tuning: [link]

- Until beginning of April we plan to allow modulation of pitch and volume per OSC (not just globally). The necessary preparations in code (including improvements on CPU usage) and GUI are made, so we are confident to stick to that plan. [link]

You might remember Curve from this user demo video. Note Curve is now on version 1.0.

44 Eleven MiniMoog Sounds

Diego de Befaco Slicer / 8 Step Sequencer

"* Diego de Befaco skill will finish a prototype of the new version of Slicer / 8 step sequencer ... Soon in ordinary! "

And Diego, the synth cat below:

"* The other Diego had domestic problems that will prevent you bring your Spanish guitar, so you will be forced to play with this wild animal:"

One more pic via Amstrad in the comments via flickr added below. That's one satisfied cat.
Update via c+c in the comments: "Just a brief explanation of what was going on here... This was published a couple of days before our first Corrientazo, a concert featuring many musicians using compact synthesizers and DIY stuff. So we were announcing that Diego, from Befaco, was going to play with a prototype of their new Slicer / 8 step sequencer, to be released later this month (more info soon!).

Then I heard news from Amstrad that he was no longer going to play spanish guitar + MFB 522 in the concert, because the cat ate the guitar! So he brought his DIY modular, from the Befaco workshops, instead; and played it via MIDI from his iPhone!"

Used up all my patch cables for this! Everything Modular, Machinedrum and El Capistan delay.

"Quick demo using the 223e arpeggiator to drive the 250e (strobe mode). I have sixteen keys assigned in the arpeggiator. One per stage in the 250e. I am turning on and off the first two stages using the first two keys. The 223e is running in falling mode. It can also run in rising mode, triangle (pendulum), random, or "spiral." The 250e is not required, but it is a convenient way of setting the pitches."
