That Stuff on the Phoneline (Pure Omega 8)

This one in via cl516

"Cable company, cell phone company, gas bill, electrical bill, Native Instrument support… I don't know who you have to call. But sometimes you just do, right? And they keep you holding on the phone, minute after minute… Other than my voice here processed by Sonic Charge Bitspeek, this is a 100% pure Omega 8 track titled, "That Stuff on the Phoneline". It received the full treatment, so proper headphones or speakers please! Enjoy!"

"Live modular synthesizer.
Q960 sequencer for the bass line through a Oakley Super Diode Ladder Filter. Six voices comprised of nine oscillators and four VCF's. Additional filters included Grove Audio PM Resonator, Q127 Fixed Filter Bank, two Oakley Equinoxe phasers and a Cyndustries Quad Low Pass Gates. Three sequencers included Q960, Q119 and STG Mini-Stores. A Yusynth Random Gates selected triggering for the percussion sounds and the high drone voice. FX included a TC Electronics D-Two delay and Lexicon MX200.
I'm handling the Q960 skip/reset points and using a Q149 Signal Selector to route cv's for the pitch to the bass line with a Q123 Standards module for pitch/octave modulation. Almost everything else is automated and just faded in and out."

Some custom gear: Pro-One is what I'm guessing is a Synthwood case. Custom white JX-3P and JD-800 which I'm guessing are Dave's of umop.com, done by customsynth.co.uk. Note the yellow EMS SYNTHI-E. Red MacBeth M5N.

You might remember Minerva for the Juno-60 and Jupiter-4 from this previous post.

Shoal 0.2

Shoal 0.2 from made by robot on Vimeo.

"Alpha release of shoal, an x,y chaotic movement midi generator with point avoidance, controlled by the Monome 256.

The video is a simple ableton demo set with 2 Simpler (sample) tracks and a base. There are 16 CC channels mapped to various aspects of those 3 tracks, in the Simpler tracks I control sample start position and length with one of them, which leads to some pretty chaotic outcomes.

Still some bugs with the press event handlers (as can be seen in the clip), sometimes a "creation" press, results in an "avoidance" press.

Shoal currently supports 16 fish instances, each of those generates x,y midi cc output, so a total of 32 channels of midi data.

With refresh rates from 5ms/step up to minutes per step. At 5ms I found that ableton or max just couldn't keep up.

"Back around 1973 moog made the Moog Satellite, and my understanding is that Thomas got the right to build the Satallite with the Thomas brand on it, and they built it into some of the Thomas range of organs. Then they made this the Synthi 1055, which is in effect a Satellite on sterroids."

Circuit Bending the Gameboy Color

GetLoFi has a post up on circuit bending a Gameboy Color with his GetLoFi’s LTC Precision Oscillator Module.

"One of the most requested tutorials has been the installation of LTC Precision Oscillator in the Gameboy Color. The LTC module is a variable oscillator can control device’s CPU clock allowing for speeding up and slowing down the overall audio output with just a twist of a knob.

At first Gameboy Color seemed like a poor candidate for this procedure, but as it turns out there are several advantages for selecting it..."
