Kurzweil 250 and a Giraffe

This officially marks THE FIRST Synth Giraffe post EVER! Update: Make that the first post to inspire a label. Looks like I had it's baby here.

via Pea Hicks of Optigan.com, for sale on Craigslist San Diego.

"Here's your chance to own a monster keyboard - that originally retailed for $13k - at a tiny fraction of that price! $500 (or best offer).
Anyone seriously interested in this item is probably already well-versed in its history, but you can find out all about it here. This particular K250 works fine and has the A, B, C and D soundblocks installed. Ideally the keys need to be reset/rebalanced, as the action is a little uneven, but all the keys work. There's one missing slider cap, but this doesn't affect performance. The original stand, pedal/ power supply unit and manuals (not pictured) are included. The little Yamaha monitor in the pic is NOT included, but is available seperately if you're interested in it. Due to the size of this item, I will NOT be able to ship it. It's available for pickup at my house near downtown San Diego."

Serenity sound preview - Beta

YouTube Uploaded by HGFSynthesizer on May 28, 2011

"Serenity -- the heavenly choir and string sythesizer

What it is and what it is not: This synthesizer is aimed to create various choir and string sounds but it is not meant to emulate exactly this or that vintage string and/or choir machine. Though you might get sounds resembling quite nice the flavours of the old machines. So don't get yourself restricted in pursuing emulations of old machines instead make use of the possibilities offered by this fully fledged synthesizer with filters, LFO, various effects and especially the Twin Etherify effect. The internal waveset has been carefully selected to provide you with a wide range of string, choir and vocal waves plus some more complex padsounds. Most of these waves have been processed widely from prior versions and some new waves have been added.

have fun

Delay-bot Mood Cube.

YouTube Uploaded by TheZombiest on May 28, 2011

"I made this on request from an ebayer who missed out on the last delay mood cube. Unlike te last one, the circuit was built from scratch utilising an op-amp buffered input, PT2399 delay and 386 audio amp output. As a result, it sounds a little cleaner than it's toy counterpart.

Here it's processing my Casio SK-1 and it sounds awesome."

"Gilbert "Gil" Scott-Heron (April 1, 1949 – May 27, 2011)[2] was an American poet, musician, and author known primarily for his work as a spoken word performer in the 1970s and 80s, and for his collaborative soul works with musician Brian Jackson. His collaborative efforts with Jackson featured a musical fusion of jazz, blues and soul music, as well as lyrical content concerning social and political issues of the time, delivered in both rapping and melismatic vocal styles by Scott-Heron..."

JohnLRice: Hahaha! Oh, What You Must Think Of Me!

YouTube Uploaded by JohnLRice on May 28, 2011

"I look forward to your comments! ;-)

This is just two modules, a Modcan Vocoder 71B and a Synth Tech MOTM-101 noise source. The EV dynamic mic goes through a Shure mic pre and then to the vocoder, along with some pink noise. Having the speakers up a bit was causing some feedback that helped produce some of the sustain and depth.

Thanks for watching and commenting."

Reason CV to MIDI to Oberheim Xpander

YouTube Uploaded by PeffTV on May 28, 2011

"Reason MIDI Sequence routed as CV over Audio to an Oberheim Xpander.

This is kludgey. Here's the data patch:
1. Reason MIDI Sequence to a Thor
2. Thor Converts MIDI to Control Voltage Note and Gate signals.
3. CV Note/Gate are converted to Audio Signals and routed to Hardware interface audio outputs.
4. Audio Outputs are directed to Soundflower
5. CV as Audio routed through Soundflower into MaxMSP
6. MaxMSP converts CV as Audio to MIDI
7. MIDI directed to a hardware port on a Novation controller
8. MIDI cable to the Oberheim Xpander

Because this configuration does not use Rewire, Audio from the Xpander can be recorded back into Reason. There is, however, a considerable amount of latency."

SIEL CRUISE (RARE) Fully polyphonic analogue synth

via this auction
"Manufactured by italian manufacturer siel in the early 80's. This is a beast of a keyboard weighing in at a hefty 15kgs!!. What you got for your money though was two synthesisers in one, A fully polyphonic section and a monophonic synth section. Built like an absolute tank with thick gauge steel hinged front faceplate allowing full access to internal electronics. To build something like this these days would cost an absolute arm and a leg!!... One of the voices this synth is renowned for was the string type sounds. The voice was an absolute copy of a solina keyboard voice which was a lush deep warm phasing type voice that when used with effects can give a string sound to die for. All other voices are also usable. Mono section has the usual filter with resonance and frequency. You have the option of a fixed keyboard split allowing you to play a mono sound on the left and a poly on the right or vise versa. Can also play mono and poly patches layered. Pitch bend and portamento control, pitchbend control has it's control cap intact and the shaft is straight and responsive. Monosection has the option to play standard fixed tones or the option to modify using the filter or enevelope shaper also vibrato. The vibrato is a strange one because this effect is only available in the mono section with a preset vibrato delay. The poly section however has a control called 'animator' this was simply a chorus type effect that could be used on most of the poly section voices to thicken the voice for a warm polyphasic effect, quite effective though..."
