MOOG SOUND LAB: Dorit Chrysler, Sustain Me

YouTube Uploaded by MoogMusicInc on May 26, 2011

"Dorit Chrysler dynamically plays an original composition on her customized Moog Etherwave Pro, a theremin manufactured by Moog Music from 2004-2006, for an ethereal Moog Sound Lab.

To function as a one woman band, Dorit triggers a prerecorded backtrack on her laptop, adding vocals and Etherwave Pro theremin in real time. At her feet are a MF-104Z Analog Delay and an Akai Head Rush looper to add depth to her sound. Voila!

This unit will scan one way in either direction or it can be set to scan back and forth. There is a scan to selector switch that will allow you to scan to and reset at what ever you select it to. 2 to 16, optional setting via switch select.

Reset switch, stop/start, power on/off, step forwards, step backwards all momentary push buttons in red.

The Red LED's are the pilot lamps for the channels, they will scan from left to right with the selector switch. Step > or Step < will allow you to either move forwards or backwards each time you press it. Or you can use the Up/Down switch to change directions. 1 thru 16 or 16 back to 1. The Red Contol knob is for the (Freq) Scanning speed. Unit was designed to opperate on a between 9-15Vdc Voltage adapter. (Outter ring is -. Inner (Positive)) Very easy to operate. I do have an adapter for this. (120Vac) Synth and works great. Switchcraft parts, all IC's are socketed on the main PCB."

"Live at the Lismore Regional Gallery, Thursday 14th April.

Video by Nicholas Rowan and Callum Wheeler - finegoods.com.au"

via Percussa:

"Matthew Daymond, Leanne Butt, Randolf Reimann and Lydian Johnson, also known as Tralala blip, is a special electronic music group from the North coast of New South Wales (Australia). The music group consists of several young people who have a range of disabilities, but all share the same passion: they love making, producing, and performing their own electronic music. The group was founded in 2008 by Randolf Reimann.

The 14th of April 2011, they did a live performance at the Lismore Regional Gallery (Australia). They used Ableton Live as well as several electronic musical instruments such as the AudioCubes, APC40, Kaossilator. Have a look at this great video and song, called 'The Sweetest Girl'."

Missing Link (www.wifimidi.com) wireless control of Korg MicroKorg

YouTube Uploaded by MissingLinkMIDI on Jun 2, 2011

In this video, I demonstrate using an iPad with a TouchOSC (www.hexler.net) template I created (available at: http://wifimidi.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=121) to control a Korg MicroKorg wirelessly via the Missing Link (www.wifimidi.com).

The Missing Link allows users to create completely custom software interfaces for controlling any of the MIDI parameters of their instruments. In this case, it exposes a lot of the controls and functions of the MicroKorg that are not easily accessible (or simultaneously configurable) directly. This is all done without a computer, ensuring the lowest possible latency and highest possible stability for critical performance applications."

iPad editor for the KORG MicroKORG

TouchOSC - hexler
iPads on eBay

Update: I gave this editor a try and it is excellent. It really opens up the MicroKORG and allows you to approach it in a way that was not possible below. You'll discover new things that were once inhibited. Unfortunately the MicroKORG does not make all parameters available via MIDI though. For example you can't adjust the speed of the arpeggiator, and you can select the effect type for FX1 and FX2. Note that is a limitation of the MicroKORG and not the editor.

DIY Serge Style Modular

via this auction

"This is a DIY Serge m-boat instrument. The artist that made it gave a lot of attention in building something creative that added textures for a Serge system or someone looking to get started into a Serge system (which was me). The products manufactured by STS and Rex are of higher quality components. This unit adds functionality and performance which compliments those of a traditional Serge modular system."

This is the one in these videos. You'll find some additional details there.

Philips PMC 100 Composer with Original Box

via this auction
"This is a very rare Synth Composer Multitrack.

It can work on either 6 AA batteries, or a 9 volt multi adapter, neither of which are included.

It has a tape recorder built into it, that enables you to save your compositions. The tape recorder also allows you to record audio.

Connection wise it has a headphone/line out socket, a microphone socket and the external power input socket.

The PMC100 has 100 instrument or "melody" voices, and another 15 "melody and accompaniment" voices.

The keyboard is touch sensitive in a similar way to the EDP Wasp."

TONTO Pics

via Erick

"My friend Doug Milford got the chance recently to meet with Malcolm Cecil and tour the studio. Doug's brother, who passed away in the late 80s, was named Kim Milford. If you poke around on the web, you'll find that Kim Milford sang with Jeff Beck for a period. And he also did a lot of acting in theater, Broadway, films, television, as well as music composition before his untimely passing while still in his 30s.

Kim had recorded some songs at the TONTO studio (lamentably, none with synths I'm told), and Doug was visiting Malcolm to track down some of the old master reels. Luckily for us, Doug snapped some great photos of the famous TONTO synth. You can see a lot of it very close up"
