"ARP 2600 vintage analog synthesizer with 3620 keyboard (model 2601 V1.0). The unit is 100% functional and in nice cosmetic condition as well. I just had it fully serviced and the keyboard has all new bushings. I also had the audio upgrade done - the LM301AN chips were replaced with LF411s to upgrade the audio path. This unit is from 1975-76, and has the 'Moog' Model 4012 filter module. It plays great and sounds awesome. "

Modded FUTURE RETRO 777

via this auction
"About 4 years ago, Jered, the owner of Future Retro performed some mods on this unit.

Here is a list of the mods:

1. Oscillator Tuning Temperature Stability Mod (Internal, I believe "Temp.-Co" resistors were installed)
2. Oscillator 2 SYNC to Oscillator 1 (SWITCH on back of unit)
3. "Sequencer Glide" On/Of (SWITCH on back of unit)
4. Adjust overall VCF Cutoff modifier amount (POT with knob on back of unit)

These mods are awesome and greatly enhance the sonic palette of the 777 voice, without losing any of the stock sounds....[especially the SYNC mod when using the Envelope to sweep VCO B pitch]

Yes the hand is inside the iPad. With proper training and diet it is possible to fit the FL Studio Guru INSIDE an iPad.

FL STUDIO MOBILE FAQ

What about Android OS? It's on the roadmap, stop nagging! We have a development team working on a low-latency Android audio-engine and there are many screen resolutions and device specifications to consider, it's not as simple as you may think :)

Does this mean FL Studio on Mac OSX soon? FL Studio Mobile is not a port of the Windows version of FL Studio. It is the product of a completely separate development team, and code, so FL Studio Mobile, while compatible with FL Studio has no impact on FL Studio development and vice versa.

Can I load my own samples? Not in version 1.0. We plan to enable user uploads in a future update.

Can I use VSTs? No, iOS does not support VSTs and frankly the devices it runs on don't have the CPU power to perform the synthesis you are used to on a desktop. FL Studio Mobile uses high quality sample based instruments made from Image-Line plugins and sample packs."

555 TIMER Astable - Electronic KIT

via this auction
"Kit contains: PCB (Printed circuit board), 555timer chip, 8 pin IC socket 0.01uF ceramic Capacitor, 10uf electrolytic capacitor, 10 kohm resistor, 8 ohm speaker, 9v. battery plug, crocodile plug.

This Concrete kit can be used for various applications. It is based on the well known 555timer IC (Integrated circuit), a very functional completed chip that is used mainly in timing circuits. 555timer IC can be used for two basic operations, the monostable operation and astable operation.

In the Astable mode the IC does not operate in a constant situation, but changes from one situation to another. This is characterized as square wave oscillation

The square wave is periodical, not sine waveform which has the form of successive vibrations with constant width and duration.

The width of the ideal square wave, it varies continuously between two concrete points in short time intervals (let’s say from 0 volts in 9 volts depending on the benefit). By operating in this way, an LED for example, can blink constantly with the same rythm. In our case, in a speaker it will produce sound “predetermined” by the operating frequency.

With a little imagination, using this simple oscillating sound/noise generator, fun devices can be created, as well as using various electrical contact materials/objects as frequency controllers.

Between the second and third position of “P” and one of the two connectors, a resistor or trimmer can be added, for less sensitivity on the connectors.

Changing the “C1” capacitor for a larger one (± 0.1uf) and at reception “P” adding a potentiometer (± 1Kohm), then the producer can use other instruments with greater control – analog diy synth, some modified game (circuit bent), or use it as an autonomous signal generator ++.

Replacing the potentiometer with a photo resistor in place of “P” (2 & 3), the frequency of the oscillator can be controled from a short distance. Hiding the environment light from the photo resistor or lighting it with a torch, a type “Opto theremin” can be created.

Between the battery and the PCB (printed circuit board) a switch or button can be added or even both!

The output to the speaker can be connected on amplification, eg. to the input of an audio mixer, home sound system, computer speakers, effects, etc.

For more information about the 555 timer and circuits you can check on the Internet. Is very widespread and can be found on many web pages." Also see www.mocm.gr

MoogLab Adds One-of-a-Kind Novitiate Educational Synth by Dewanatron

"Bob Moog Foundation Acquires One-of-a-Kind Synthesizer for MooLab Educational Program

June 29, 2011 -- Asheville, N.C. — To further the Bob Moog Foundation’s goal of teaching science through music, Executive Director Michelle Moog-Koussa commissioned the unique synth builder Dewanatron to construct an equally unique electronic musical instrument. The result is the Novitiate, a literally one-of-a-kind device stripped down to a synthesizer’s most fundamental functions and built entirely with the Foundation’s needs in mind. Its purpose is to aid in teaching beginners the basics of synthesis, without the distraction of unnecessary bells and whistles.

The Novitiate was donated to the Bob Moog Foundation by Dewanatron, a company that builds solid-state analog electronic musical instruments. The result of collaboration between artist/musician Brian Dewan and inventor/musician Leon Dewan, Dewanatron has gained considerable attention from the Swarmatron, a synth featured in the Academy Award-winning soundtrack to The Social Network, composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Housed in a furniture-grade poplar cabinet, the Novitiate has 1950s sci-fi movie styling that’s best described as “futuristically retro.” The front panel’s four sections—oscillator, modulation, filter, and envelope—each demonstrate a primary synthesizer function. According to Leon Dewan, “We designed in the Novitiate something very simple for someone who doesn’t know anything about synthesis to start with and just get a handle on the basics of waveforms and filtering and frequency modulation.”

Brian Dewan adds, “It’s the first instrument we made that was not really conceived of as first and foremost for making music. It’s really made for understanding synthesis.”

“Where modern day synthesizers can be a bit overwhelming for new students of synthesis,” says Michelle Moog-Koussa, “the Novitiate does a beautiful job of presenting the four basic building blocks of analog synthesis in an accessible and compelling manner. We are delighted to add the Novitiate to our MoogLab program and we are deeply grateful to Brian and Leon Dewan for supporting our educational initiatives with this custom instrument.”

The Novitiate is an especially valuable asset to MoogLab, the Foundation’s outreach program for taking hands-on experience with electronic instruments into schools and the broader community. Its next public appearance will be at The Artery in Asheville during Pushing the Envelope: ADSR, a multimedia art show beginning July 9 and ending July 30, 2011.

Stay in Sync

via Innerclock Systems

"Back in 2009 when the Original Sync-Lock was in the early prototype testing phase we had nothing like our new Sync-Gen II software available and we based our hardware conversion design on raw audio pulses because we knew we could guarantee 100% sample-accurate, external tempo-sync with zero-latency regardless of computer platform or host DAW application.

One minor drawback in generating sync using this method is the difficulty in providing seamless transport control.

Stopping the DAW means the audio pulses also stop causing any connected slave-sync devices to be left ‘hanging’ waiting for the next sync pulse.

As a workable solution we added a Footswitch Input on the Original Sync-Lock. Simply pressing the Footswitch once forced all slave-sync devices to Stop and Reset themselves ready for the next DAW Start command.

Necessary, totally functional but not entirely elegant.

In designing our new Sync-Gen II software we had two primary goals:-

Sample Accurate and Zero Latency External Tempo Sync

Seamless DAW Integration

At the end of June 2011 after more than eighteen months of intense software development, extended hardware trials and exhaustive real-world DAW testing we feel we have exceeded our original expectations.

Transport is now fully integrated and seamless between the DAW host application and your external hardware via Sync-Gen II.

Force Reset is now ancient history. The DAW Spacebar runs the show.

Rather than leaving the Footswitch Input to waste on the Original Sync-Lock we decided it could be put to better use.

The Original Sync-Lock Analogue Pulse Output generated fixed 16th Note 20ms Positive 5v DC Pulses to drive external sequencers, synthesizer EGs and drum-trigger inputs. We felt this was the most useful rhythmic interval to drive analogue clock-driven arps and step-sequencers too.

A factory hardware update to the Original Sync-Lock now provides a wide range of quantized, rhythmic pulse intervals – 1 : 1/2 : 1/2T : 1/4 : 1/4T : 1/8 : 1/8T : 1/16 – and these are simply selected by holding down the Footswitch. At the beginning of each new bar if the Footswitch is held down, the next rhythmic interval is selected.

Email us at info@innerclocksystems.com for more information on updating your Original Sync-Lock.

Godwin Guitar Organ

via this auction
More pics at the auction and be sure to see the seller's other items for other unique instruments.

"Late 1970s Godwin Guitar Organ in perfect functional condition and excellent cosmetic condition condition.

This high end Godwin Guitar Organ is the best model of "guitorgan" ever made. It uses frets and whichever string you are playing to trigger circuits that output whatever note you're playing and produces a Hammond-like organ sound. It has 19 switches and 13 knobs. All knobs, potentiometers of the guitar and the pedal have been fully tested and have no scratching. Played like a guitar, it also even has guitar pickups and can be played as a guitar as well. Sounds incredible when fed into a Leslie.

This Godwin Organ works perfectly, and includes the original case and power supply/volume pedal, both in excellent condition.Cosmetically, the only flaw that is anything more than extremely minor is the little craquelure in the paint around the 1/4" jack. It is remarkably and convincingly Hammond-like when fed into a Leslie. The "impossible to find original schematics" are also included. Basically, the drawbar logic of a Hammond organ is incorporated into this guitar, except here the drawbars are rotary knobs, and each drawbar can be switched in or out. You can add or subtract as much "percussion" or tremolo as desired, You can also adjust the speed of the tremolo with fast/slow controls. The history of the Godwin Guitar Organ is that during the 1970s, Sisme, the Italian owner of Godwin Organs, aimed to attract guitarists with the ambitious Guitar-Organ. It looked impressive, with a bast array of controls, and was big on body dimensions, necessary to accommodate the copious electronics. As with the ill-fated Vox organ, frets were wired to tone generators and string completed the "circuit", creating the organ sound. Truly amazing, and truly rare. Don't miss this opportunity."

Free Weekly Ableton Live Rack #14: Noises, Risers, Swooshes

YouTube Uploaded by AfroDjMac on Jun 28, 2011

"This weeks Ableton Live Rack is a collection of white noise swooshes, risers, falling synths, and other useful transitional sounds. They are great for adding tension or creating releases. Most were created with either virtual synths or sampled synths, and some sounds were sampled from old video games. These are some of the exact sounds I use during my live performances to add anything from anticipation, signaling a change, or creating atmosphere. I have added a bunch of useful effects. These are explained in the video, as well as a quick demonstration of how I might use them on a track, although for the sake of example, I may be slightly overdoing it. Enjoy and Share :)

There is a noise/hiss generated independantly of the Oscillators and Noise.

I have recorded a live bass line starting with a Pulse Wave then turning the oscillator down (the hiss is present) then turning up the Saw wave and then down and then turning up the Noise.

In between each pass you can hear the "hiss"

I then got carried away and started overdubbing - I've uploaded the shoddy results of this in a separate video :)
