This P-61 also has the p6retro MIDI input, a new Lithium battery, all keys work fine, and has been calibrated."

Moog MF-108 Cluster Flux Audio Demos

Mf108 bendy beat mangling by controlvoltage
"some abusive testing of the new moogerfooger MF-108 Cluster Flux, applied to some drum samples.

Midi-synchronized sample and hold LFO on the flange/chorus time, plus a lot of live knob twisting."

Mf108 sick 'n stoopid beat mangling by controlvoltage

"Another experimental work-out of the prototype Moogerfooger MF-108M Cluster Flux chorus/flange pedal. This time a techno beat is put through the wringer.

Recording is a single live mono track (actual Cluster Flux has multiple dual-output configurations as well as mono), just drums into MF-108M, no other effects used.

clock-synchronized Sawtooth LFO applied to Time parameter; lots of live knob tweaking in addition."

Moog Slim Phatty - 4 Tracked Slim Phatty

YouTube Uploaded by MrRidgebackman on Jun 21, 2011

"The Moog Slim Phatty being put through a casual workout via Cubase LE (not the best version of cubase I have used). Sequenced via MIDI and recorded each track and processed, little bit of Echo and Phaser on the Bass. Short piece of Music demonstrating how versatile this little module is. I find the Slim Phatty a pleasure to work with and easy to use.

The fact it can sit at my desk between my iMac and keyboard, makes it a dream to work with."

Minimoog Voyager XL Compilation - Andy Barrow

YouTube Uploaded by MrRidgebackman on Jul 6, 2011

"The Minimoog Voyager XL - What can I tell you about this Synth? I could go on for hours, however, you may get drooled on, so I shall refrain from that. This Video is just a scratch on the surface of what this excellent Synth can do. It contains 3 pieces of Music, one of which is more ambient or experimental (I was just messing around with patch cables and Filters - so experimental is almost right). I cannot give you an unbiased opinion on this Analogue Monster for 2 reasons, One - Its mine and second its a Moog - I cannot begin to tell you how long I have wanted one of these. So before you complain about the price of this synth and its only Monophonic, I hear and understand all of that, the thought did cross my mind and I did even consider a Motif or a G7/8 - I already have a Korg Radias, so I don't want another headache.

Tiptop Audio Going Polyphonic - 8 Voice Module, CS-80 in the Works?

Bits from Gur of Tiptop on Muff's:

Fri Jul 08, 2011 2:37 pm
"It's a huge design project but It's all going well so far. Feels like laying bricks, one at a time, and slowly a new sticky ugly creature is emerging. zombie

The pvco pcb layout is almost complete and I should be able to order the prototype pcbs some time late next week. This one is probably the most challenging design in the P series and so far it all looks good.

We also finish developing the firmware and hardware for a high precision frequency counter and tuner that goes into the pvco and is used to count the frequency from each core separately, making a smooth process of tuning and calibrating the oscillators. That was a descent size project in itself that took some good amount of time and resources.

Next inline is the pvcf, and here I'm debating what to start with, a 24db Z2040 (Prophet 5 V.2) style topology or a OB-X 12db style topology. The OB-X should be cheaper to produce so I feel it will be wise to start with."

Fri Jul 08, 2011 5:19 pm
"...the first oscillator module is analog, saw core. As for the filter, I'm going to try and play with the OB-X schematic and see if I can pull up a HP output as well. That will require some internal signal routing and as long as it doesn't add too many parts then I might go for it."

Tue Jul 12, 2011 7:39 pm
"it will be a sub-format of euro. Same panel sizes, same power connector, and runs of euro +/-12V. I have no doubt that other manufacturers will jump in as soon as the format has been realized and proven. That will be sooo awesome. No need for 8 cables, one cable will carry 8 signals and a shilled"

As you can see... its possible create drum sounds similar to what you'd hear on a drum synth, as well as create typical FM sounds... and even a very clear sounding square wave. I am sure someone will comment with "this sounds like Sega Genesis" and I agree mostly.

PS - there are no external effects applied... not that it sounds like there are"

Rare Crumar CPB-2 Bass Pedals

via this auction

"You are viewing a rare, vintage analog bass pedals synthesizer made in Italy in the early 1980's. The label on its side says, "Manufactured for Music Technology, Inc. by Elettronica", and has a serial number of 0066. Although it does not say Crumar on the device, it is the result of a joint venture between Music Technology, Inc. and Crumar, and is the same unit as was marketed by Crumar.

You could describe this as the "Poor Man's Moog Taurus", and you wouldn't be far off. It has thirteen "keys", a full octave from C-C. It has two wave forms: Triangle and Saw Tooth, as well as a volume and sustain dial. The 'release' switch is as close as you get to an ASDR envelope generator with this, and turns the release on or off. The sustain dial sets the length of the release.

"Doubling" toggles on a chorus effect, and "Footage" sets the scale of the Voltage Controlled Oscillator. It goes from 32' to 16'. With this unit's Voltage Controlled Filter, you can really get a bunch of different kinds of bass sounds out of it...

After buying it, I had it completely gone over by an analog synth technician. The volume dial is still slightly scratchy, but that is the *only* flaw with it now.

While working on it, he informed me that the VCO and VCF use CEM chips. You guessed it: this synth sounds awesome."

The rest of this newsletter will focus on the current status of the Nomad, a new product, some product updates, and some info on Marsynth demos and related performances coming up.

here are some of the main features (more will be available once finished):
- up to 6-8 tracks (depending on available memory)
- 16 steps per track
- each track has its own midi channel, track length and speed (these parameters are stored internally and are recalled each time the sequencer starts up)
- midi in/out (for clock sync)
- different play modes: single, loop, repeat, random, pattern, notes pattern
- 2 different ways of use: sequencer (the uSeq works as a sequencer) and controller (the uSeq becomes a midi controller and the 6 buttons can be used as midi controllers. a future version of the uSeq will have endless rotary instead of buttons)
- led to show any midi activity (only midi out at the moment)
- customizable lcd screen (color)
- note position shift

"Today, during her performance at the TEDGlobal Conference in Edinburgh, the singer/songwriter, Imogen Heap demonstrated a pair of magical, musical gloves that had audience members literally eating out of the palm of her hands. The high tech musical gloves connect an interface to a live musical production system controlled entirely with hand gestures. Developed by Dr. Thomas Mitchell, a lecturer and researcher at the University of the West of England, the gloves are like something out of the movie, Minority Report, since sounds can be recorded, synthesized and manipulated live on stage by Imogen Heap by using intuitive hand movements."

"On offer is a Metasonix D-1000 Vacuum Tube Drum Machine. It's quite the unique device with almost nothing in common with other drum machines in terms of sound. After all, the sounds it makes are created with tubes! It's dirty, it's gritty and somewhat unpredictable. This one has had very minimal use (under a few hours) and has never left my project studio, so it's condition is like new.

Since this item is so different from a run-of-the-mill Roland or Korg drum module, I highly recommend visiting the manufacturer's web site and listening to some of the audio clips so you know what to expect.
