Cynthia BLACET DARK STAR CHAOS

via this auction

"Rare Modular Synthesizer modules in MODCAN "A" Format!

Something Wicked this way comes...eh?

Discontinued by it's own Master, and ever shrouded in mystery is this John Blacet enigma: The Dark Star Chaos.

The Cyclops Blue LED is the window to the soul of this module's highly prized noise modulated oscillator and filter combination. Like a one-panel mini synthesizer of it's own, it's incredibly useful as an independent chaotic voice in a system because it features voltage control of it's pulse width, noise clock rate, and oscillator & filter frequencies. The built-in envelope generator is also modified for voltage control, and there is a separate filter output modification as well."

Casio CZ101 Backlit LCD Mod

via The Voice of Saturn

"I replaced the former with a new backlit LCD from Sparkfun. They're cheap and come in a few different colors and being able to see the screen in the dark is totally key. The mod is super easy, just one note - the pads for the backlight power just need to be connected to the LCD power, and the rest of the wires go in the same order as the old display but the pads themselves will be on the other side of the board"

EDP Wasp synthesizer & EDP Spider sequencer

via this auction

"WASP
Plus Points
When the 9 volt DC mains adaptor is connected and an audio lead is connected to the Line Out and the Wasp is turned on, it emits a continuous note. This frequency/sound of the note can be affected by certain controls such as:
KEYBOARD section 'Bend' and 'Glide' affect the frequency/sound of the note including adjusting white tuning screw
OSCILLATOR 1 section all 'F.T.' settings, 'Width%' and Wave Form control affect the frequency/sound of the note
OSCILLATOR 2 section all 'F.T.' settings, 'Pitch' and Wave Form control affect the frequency/sound of the note
CONTROL OSC. section 'Freq', 'Pitch Mod', 'Noise Signal' and wave form control affect the frequency/sound of the note
FILTER section 'Freq', 'Q', Band Control and both 'Control' knobs affect the frequency/sound of the note
OUTPUT 'Volume' and 'Power On' does work

Minus Ponts
However, the 'ENVELOPE GENERATORS' Sections do not affect the frequency/sound of the note. If I touch any note on the keyboard it does not respond. I have tried adjusting the white keyboard touch sensitivity screw (just above keyboard) and this has no effect. Does not make any sound from internal speaker, just a hum.

Please Note: The second photo shows 4 controls have been replaced.
Typically 4 of the yellow tops went missing and I replaced these with new knob/tops from Clocktronics. The original 4 Wasp knobs with no yellow tops are part of the sale .

SPIDER
Plus Points
In the past this used to work when connected to the Wasp and using a Boss DR55 I could stop/start a sequence by connecting to the 'Sync In'.
Minus Points
Now - Even after connecting the LinkCable I do not know if the Spider works because of the problem with the Wasp - see above."

Darshan or Darsana is a Sanskrit term meaning "sight" (in the sense of an instance of seeing or beholding), vision, apparition, or glimpse. It is most commonly used for "visions of the divine" in Hindu worship, e.g. of a deity (especially in image form), or a very holy person or artifact. One could "receive" darshana or blessing of the deity in the temple, or from a great saintly person, such as a great guru. [Taken from Wilipedia]"

EML 101 Electrocomp vintage analog semi-modular synth

via this auction

"The EML 101 hails from the beginning of portable synthesizers. EML started out as a small US competitor to Moog and Arp in the early 70's. The 101 is a FOUR oscillator duophonic semi-modular synth. The sound is perhaps most comparable to early Oberheim, but the overall design encourages experimentation (the limits of which were pushed, most notably, by Allen Ravenstein of Pere Ubu).

This 101 is in very good cosmetic condition. It works perfectly and looks good despite missing two case latches (that fix the synth to the keyboard when open) and having a broken leather handle (it will be 40 years old next year). This 101 has been fully tuned and calibrated by Switched On Music Electronics. It works and sounds incredible."

RED MARTIAN - YOUR COMPUTER [1993] - ROLAND VOCODER

Uploaded by redmartian on Nov 8, 2008

"Recorded at Hot Traxx (Garland, Texas) in 1993. Yes, I brought everything into a heavy metal recording studio in the back of an El Camino (thanks to Brian Rogers). Here is the equipment list:
- Roland SVC-350 Vocoder
- Roland Alpha Juno (bass line)
- Sequential Circuits Prophet T-8 (additional bass and solo)
- Sequential Circuits Six-Trak (lead)
- Sequential Circuits Prophet-600 (lead)
- Ensoniq Performance Sampler (ERROR 144 - REBOOT?)
- SDF-3 running BSDI BSD/386
- Telebit Trailblazer TB+ plus (calling 'adaptex' over UUCP)
- Pascal Blin (Official French Guy)
- Drums sampled from Kraftwerk's Computer World record
- Vietnamese vocal by Hoang Oanh from Hon Vong Phu

The Telebit was sampled live in the studio because I did not have a SCSI interface on the EPS. The song was supposed to be released on an 'Analogue Heaven' compilation that never materialized and sat on DAT until 2004 when I remastered it and added Pascal Blin's vocal to fill in what I felt were empty spots. Pascal did not know what the words meant but was very concerned about pronouncing them correctly."
