"Just a quick little vid of making up some stuff using the Moog Little Phatty, sending MIDI to the Roland Sound Plus (which has a rhythmic gate on it), also using hte Voyager for that nice little effect and the beat coming from the SPS-1UW+ . I turned on the Phatty's arpgeggiator so as to get repeated notes (I'm too lazy to play them)."

Ugo Audio Rez 3 Free Virtual Analog Synth Now Available

"Rez is a seemingly basic synth, but it’s capable of a very wide range of sounds. While Rez has a bunch of cool features, the beating heart of Rez is its filter. It’s made from multiple chained filters acting as a single powerful filter and it’s highly resonant, providing Rez with its distinctive character. Top that off with distortion, a phaser, various oscillator modulations, delay, and a killer programmable arp and step sequencer, and you’ve got a powerhouse of a synth in a very small package.

From funky squishes, beastly basses, and screaming leads, to tight arpeggiations, swirling rhythms, atmospheres, bells, and interesting effects, you’ll find it all here. Additionally, it comes with two skins - Yellow & Black, or Black & Yellow."

Bob Moog Foundation Releases Mooged Out Asheville, Volume 2

"ASHEVILLE, N.C. – August 5, 2011 – Leading up to the organization’s fifth anniversary on August 21, the Bob Moog Foundation (BMF) announces the release of its third CD, Mooged Out Asheville, Volume 2. This audio anthology features 14 Asheville-based recording artists, each contributing a track to benefit the Foundation. Spanning musical styles ranging from rock and hip-hop to dubstep and avant electronica, Mooged Out Asheville, Volume 2 is a dynamic showcase for the wealth of sounds inspired by Bob Moog’s contributions to modern music. The album is not strictly electronic music, but an expression of the wider pool of creativity that Bob touched.

You can order Mooged Out Asheville, Volume 2 directly from the BMF’s online store (www.moogfoundation.org/shop). It’s also available for download from either iTunes or Amazon.

Compiled and produced by BMF volunteer Dave Hamilton, who also produced the first volume, the album is dedicated to Meg Lauzon, who was a friend to the Foundation and to the Asheville music community. The opening track features BMF Executive Director Michelle Moog-Koussa reading a description of Bob’s one-of-a-kind invention, the Multi-Touch-Sensitive Keyboard, accompanied by music from the duo Blinding Standstill. Additional contributors include the West African-influenced Toubab Krewe (one of Bob’s favorite bands), Stephaniesid, Telepath, and 15-year-old phenom Summit Jaffe (also known as Numatik).

'Most musicians have known for years how important Bob Moog’s work is in the music industry. I’m thankful that the BMF is going to help share that with the rest of the world, and that it’s based here in Asheville.'
— ---- Ryan Reardon, Afromotive

'Bob Moog opened the way for electronic music technologies to reach everyday people. The Bob Moog Foundation continues his work by expanding greater access to the future tools of human expression.'
— Juan Holiday, The Secret B-Sides

'Eymarel feels extremely grateful and privileged to be part of the mission to spread Bog Moog’s legacy. Together we can continue to explore and spread the power of electronic sound and music. We take pride in creating music and expressing emotion with some of the best gear on the market designed by one of the greatest synthesizer pioneers: Bob Moog!'
— Mary Frances, Eymarel

'In the years since Bob's passing, I've come to realize the breadth of creativity that he inspired with his innovations. Bob's legacy spans far beyond electronic music, and even far beyond music itself. Mooged Out Asheville, Volume 2 is a testament to the various musical genres that have been touched by his pioneering work. The BMF is grateful to our talented local music community for this show of support.'
— Michelle Moog-Koussa, BMF Executive Director"

"The Bob Moog Foundation is pleased to auction off this custom hand painted Moog Etherwave theremin by Miami artist David ‘LEBO’ Le Batard.

The theremin comes with a 110 volt power supply, and an instruction manual and DVD. It mounts on a standard microphone stand.

A long time supporter of the Bob Moog Foundation, LEBO painted this theremin along with three others while visiting Asheville during the Halfway to MoogFest weekend in April, 2011. All theremins were donated to the Bob Moog Foundation by Moog Music, Inc. You can see a video of LEBO painting the theremins here.

LEBO explains, “Working with the Bob Moog Foundation seems like a great fit, as I feel we share the same approach of blending fine craftsmanship, creative exploration, and a keen interest in unique technological applications.”

Michelle Moog-Koussa, Executive Director of the Bob Moog Foundation, notes, “LEBO’s integration of music and visual art speaks to the transcendental nature of creative expression, the very expression that guided Bob Moog’s career. LEBO, like many visual artists, has told me that Bob Moog’s legacy inspires his work. Through LEBO’s painting, we celebrate the inspirational value of creativity across genres.”

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own a unique piece of musical art! All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Bob Moog Foundation.

David “LEBO” Le Batard is a Cuban-American artist who is recognized for his murals, paintings, sculptures, and wide spectrum of creative media. LEBO represents the self-proclaimed movement of “Postmodern Cartoon Expressionism,” the application of cartoon imagery combined with richly saturated balances of color and unique linear composition. Ranging from abstract to highly narrative, his aim is to evoke emotion and create layers of meaning.

Born in New York City (November 19, 1972) to Cuban émigré parents and raised in South Florida, LEBO’s formal training in the arts began at Florida International University in Miami, Florida (BA degree, 1995) and culminated in his residency at the International Museum of Cartoon Art in Boca Raton, Florida, where he lectured on the practical and technical approaches of illustration.

The Bob Moog Foundation
www.moogfoundation.org

The Bob Moog Foundation honors the legacy of synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog through its mission of igniting creativity at the intersection of music, history, science, and innovation. Its projects include MoogLab Student Outreach Program, which brings electronic musical instruments into the schools to teach children science through music; the Archive Preservation Initiative, an effort to preserve and protect the inventor’s extensive and historical archive; and the future Moogseum, an innovative educational, historical, and cultural facility that will bring Bob Moog’s spirit alive. It will be located in Asheville, NC, in the years ahead, pending necessary funding.

The Bob Moog Foundation is an independent, donor-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is not formally affiliated with Moog Music, Inc."

Mister Magisters – Toy Modular

via Pakir:
"Iv been sitting on this pair of Mister Magister for a while now, they are somewhat similar to a swedish talking Speak & Spell. After finding some funny bends i couldnt decide what components to put in it so i decided to make it modular. The tiny patchbays on the front goes to soilderpoints on the card and by putting different components in the patchbay you can get the machine to flip out in all kind of ways. Sometimes its screaming and making little noisebursts and other times it gives you strange ryhtmic melodies, bleeps and bloops. Then if you get tired of all the wackyness you can rip everything out of the patchbay and now it will speak pretty much randomly from its memory. Making strange sentences, poetry. In swedish.

One of the machines has a 8×8 led-matrix connected to the patchbay, you can use it to bend the Magister. When you´ve connected enough cables to it the leds will flicker like any old 70s super computer. =)

The nice thing about them being two is that you can use the extra long cables to bend them against each other. =)

Anyway. its a great little toy. I havnt seen many of them bent. Dont know if people know about them at all.
It would be nice to make a better control surface for it or adding a sequencer but its very much fun the way it is.
Patching at it, making leds flicker in the led-matrix, makes you feel like a mad professor. =)
