"one terrible visual experience. Apologies.. You are listening to a single oscillator fed through a VCA and then into a newly converted Johnson Echo/Analog delay pedal I got off eBay for $35. The pedal functions as normal, however I added a switch to disconnect the original pots for delay and or repeats, and then control those parameters by voltage control via vactrols ."

Oberheim OB-Mx

via this auction
See here for more.
"Legendary synth designed by Don Buchla for Oberheim, later taken over by Gibson ... one-card, two-voice ... subject of much commentary and controversy on the www so read up on it ... this one looks and sounds great, cosmetic condition is EXC as depicted with a few light scratches top bottom front back sides from having been inserted into and taken out of racks, light rack rash, but it is unlikely you will find one in better shape unless it is NOS."

Maestro USS-1 guitar synthesizer system

via this auction

see here for more.

via the seller: "Maestro USS-1 guitar synthesizer system. I bought it in the mid-1970s from Apex Music in San Diego (wonder where they went?). Reputedly designed by Oberheim for Maestro/Gibson. A real monster of an effects unit, way before the modular flexibility of Boss, Roland, Electro-Harmonix, etc. I used it on several records in the late 1970s-early 1980s at which time it go pre-empted by rack gear (all of which now thankfully is gone). It's been sitting around in the closet basically ever since. Cosmetically it is in EXC- condition as depicted with a few light scratches top bottom front back sides. As was the fashion of the time I engraved my name, social security number and driver's license number on the back lower left side - way before the concept of "identity theft" even was developed!. So now I scraped it off. Electronically the sample & hold works great and is extremely psychedelic; and the phase works OK. The waveform, which is a primitive fuzz control, only barely adds anything to the sound. And I can't get the envelope or the subharmonic (octave lower) to work at all. No pedals. So it is sold "as is" with these caveats as to condition, your tech most likely will be able to get them going without too much problem."

EML ElectroComp 101 vintage analog synth

EML ElectroComp 101 vintage analog synthesizer

via this auction

"EML ElectroComp 101 analogue duophonic synthesizer. An opportunity to own a rare vintage EML 101 in excellent original 'collectors' condition - only 1000 were made and this was originally sold on 11 November 1974 based on the log kept by ex-EML founder Dale Blake.

I bought the EML from Tone Tweakers in the USA in 2008 where it had been fully serviced. It's in extremely good condition and is all original apart from the leather handle (which I replaced with one very similar to the original), and the four rubber stick-on feet on the bottom. EML built their instruments from military grade components and they last very well.

The EML 101 has four VCOs two of which can double as an LFO. The VCOs can be swept from triangle through square to saw. It has a lovely and characterful 12db VCF which sweeps continuously from LP through BP to HP and, contrary to some reports, will self-resonante a little. It also has a great modulation control sweeping through AM to RM.

The EML 101 sounds nothing like its contemporary rivals from ARP and Moog and has a character of its own - edgy but huge, with a lot of bottom end. It's capable of duophony as well. There are lots of modulation possibilities, including S&H. It's semi-modular and audio and CV can be used interchangably when using patch cords. It's also possible to tune the EML 101 to tunings other than 12 semitones per octave.

Please note that EML used a system of 1.2v/octave (so 0.1v per semi-tone) which, apart from the lack of practical interface, means it's not compatible with any other analogue synths, but who cares when you've got four VCOs! Please also note that the EML-101 runs on US voltage (110v) so requires a step-down transformer for use in the UK/EU.

The EML 101 is built into its own wooden case and the synthesizer is attached to the keyboard by catches."

Rare MOOG Phone Controller

via this auction
Note this is not a synth but it is from Moog. Note the logo. Moog branched out to other products towards the end of their business. Moog went bust, Don Martin in the US picked up the name as well as another outfit in the UK. Bob Moog ran Big Briar producing theremins & Moogerfoogers, and eventually managed to get the Moog name back in time for the release of the Moog Voyager. That's the short version.

"very rare Moog Phone Controller. Its a little tough to describe what this is. It kind of works as an electronic Rolodex with up to thirty phone numbers capable of being stored in it. You can see what other functions it has on the front. Obviously your iPhone is capable of doing much more than this, so this is probably more of a museum piece or a nice find for a Moog collector. All functions appear to be working properly. Includes the AC adapter and one short telephone cable."

Giving this one the Synth Bling label.

"All art done in MS-Paint. See the full picture at http://vegeta897.deviantart.com/art/Ultimate-Groovebox-85225973

Most of you probably don't know I'm an avid pixel artist! I do all my work in MS-Paint. All the line/edge smoothing is done manually, pixel by pixel, not with a tool in photoshop or something. You can call me stupid for doing that, I don't care; I enjoy it!

So what this is is just an imaginary groovebox (music-making device) based on the emx and esx, as you can tell. I used a picture of the emx for reference on a lot of things.

I've always wanted to do one of these timelapse videos because peoople never get to see how much detail I put into my pixel art. Unfortunately the first couple hours of the work I wasn't capturing, but I guess the video is long enough as it is, right? Haha. Also, all the music is made by me with Reason 4.0.

Find the full versions of the tracks I used and more of my software music here: http://pixelatomy.com/stuff/music.html

Please enjoy, and thank you for watching.

Edit: Heh, I just noticed there's a little error near the end, part of it plays twice in a row. I didn't even notice at first, probably because it happens so fast :p Oh well."

Stunning Korg PS-3100 Vintage Analog Synthesiser

via this auction
"f you are familiar with the Korg PS series, these don't come up very often, make no mistake this one is pristine for a 34 year old synth, and sounds fantastic, it has been completely rehoused in a polished solid mahogany case and is the centre piece of any analog collection. I love this monster, but having had the pleasure of its use, my craving for more gear has taken hold once again and this is alot of synth real estate tied up in one big beastie. All pots and keys (except in 2 above) behave perfectly, keybed action feels great. See these links for more details:

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb01/articles/retrokorg.asp

http://www.korganalogue.net/korgms/ps.html

Purchased by the previous owner from Ko at Modeless Factory about a year and a half ago who did a lot of servicing work to it including replacing all the edge connectors and electrolytic caps before shipping. When it reached the UK, the previous owner had the MM5824N divider chips replaced with modern CMOS replacements from Flatkeys (they have a life-expectancy of at least 20 years) and it was serviced by Tim Wallhead. It has two minor faults, some paint flaking down left hand edge of metal front plate, but barely noticeable (just make it out on pic 3), up to you if you touch up, and one d sharp key occasionally triggers erratically, which indicates a minor residue on busbar, however these are all work arounds for me and until due a service next."

Vintage Kurzweil 250RMX 6sp Rackmount Synth

via this auction

"Kurzweil 250 RMX, 6U rack version of the K250 keyboard, with all four soundblocks. This is the classic instrument developed for Stevie Wonder and used by all the top film composers through the '80s and '90s, for example the Lethal Weapons series. I believe Paul Shaffer still plays the keyboard version on the David Letterman show, but if not he did for years. The K250 was originally $20,000 by the time you added all the options (which this has). When they came out with the RMX, it was one of the first rack versions of a keyboard nobody wanted to carry around... The audio quality is just impeccable, with XLR transformer balanced outs, a very high internal sample rate, and a massive power supply inside - I'd estimate the weight of the unit to be 50 pounds. Kurzweil later released some of the K250 sounds in the 1000 PX series, but the 250 has all of them and sounds considerably bigger.

Poor cosmetic condition - missing knobs, broken sliders - Unit DOES light up and produce sounds."
