RS7000 Tutorial Automated Talk Modulation Vari Effect

YouTube Uploaded by zamisers7k on Aug 31, 2011
"Sorry for crud video but hope its good enough to show what is going on.

Have a track with the Vari Effect turned up on it and the Vari effect set to 097
Talk Mod.

Go in to Edit Mode [Enter] key on number pad then press Insert [F3].

Put in the event time where you'd like it examp 001:3:011

[F1] rotary over to event type Exclusive.

Then Enter hex code f0.43.10.6A.01.02.02.00.XX.F7

where XX = 00 - 04 I think, a/i/u/e/o

Repeat insert event at different times.

Or, perhaps the faster way but harder to explain...

This is how I figured this out and you can do it I suppose with any event or
knob tweek that shows up when the Midi Out light flashes.

Put a midi cable from the RS's Out A to the In.

Select a blank tack, mute all tracks to keep from other midi data recording,
press Effect twice [#5] press REC then Play, start turning the F1 knob. The Hex
code will record as events in the events list. Press Stop.

If the events aren't changing the Vowel, remember to unmute
the track you recorded it on. You can mute and unmute it from doing it, the RS
blows my mind yet again."

ADASYNTH Planning New Affordable Modular

via ADASYNTH:

"For the last year I have been busy with many other projects; helping start LSD Programming, developing Mac apps, and now working on a hopeful app for iOS. Oh, and finishing my BS in computer science.

I have had lots of ideas for ADASYNTH, just no time to bring them to life.

This September, I plan on picking this project back up. I would love to share it with my followers and would very much enjoy seeing other people building it and making music with it.

I want to bring you all the cheapest and simplest modular synthesizer possible."

Update: I originally posted this was from the x0xb0x creator. I confused Lady Ada with ADASYNTH thinking it was Lady Ada's private blog (my RSS sub only brought up the individual post). I now remember it is not. Last I checked Ladyada did not have a beard. She runs Adafruit. Sorry folks. Post updated. Huge apologies to Ladyada and ADASYNTH. Still cool news though. I'm looking forward to seeing what ADASYNTH comes up with.

Roland TB-303 Bassline Synth with MidiBass-II Control

via this auction
"The unit is fitted with the Sequentix Midibass-II CPU allowing the user to control the synthesizer section and filter cutoff via midi... The MIDIBass-II board also transmits the notes from the 303's internal sequencer via MIDI, allowing you to capture the unique quality of patterns created through the TB user-interface. Obviously you don't need to use the midi control aspect and when this is unplugged the synth works exact as it would had it not been modified. The MidiBass-II control is ideal for further editing or chaining patterns on a PC or hardware sequencer, pattern backup etc."

Absolute Extremes DSC Monster DJ System [Meeblip, Midifigher & More]

"Here is an awesome computer mod that I have been working on for the last four months. I built this computer mod to appeal to DJ's and music artists. I call it DJ SOUND CONTROL or DSC for short.

I made it as compact as possible, but not too small that you could not be comfortable performing a set. I added a powerpack that allows true portability, giving you a full hour of power without plugging it in.
With the 23" touch screen the performance can now include finger gestures and multitouch controls. Crazy RGB backlit panels makes sure your party keeps hoppin' through the night. Cutting edge DJ hardware, like the Midifighter that has been customized to put super fresh effects right at the fingertips of both your right and left hands, will make this a musical game changer. Built in Meeblip digital synth controlled by the optional slide out keyboard will let you rip off an amazing bass solo or dub step routine. On board effects from the Alesis NanoVerb give you instant overall expression of the multiple outs. And the meat and potatoes customized Numark Mixtrack gives you all the standards that every DJ needs to stylize their set. With tough Lexan custom CNC machined panels and high strength aluminum frame this box is ready to travel around the world with you no matter where and how you perform."

MFB Synth Lite analog synth

via this auction

"Tiny moog:) This is the first edition, so its almost impossible to find one!
I would keep it, but now unfortunately I need the money :( Sorry for the bad quality picture but it made by cheap mobile :)

Description from official site:
The MFB SYNTH LITE is a monophonic synthesizer module with two DCOs, analogue VCF and analogue VCA. The module you can be controlled by MIDI. Here is the detailed configuration of the Synthesizer:

The oscillator section consists of two DCO´s. Sawtooth, rectangle and impulse (VCO1)or ringmodulator (VCO 2) are available. The octave selects between 4', 8' and 16'. VCO 2 can be additionally fine tuned byover acan be tuned over + / - one oktave.

The VCF offers the well-known 24 dB lowpass filter. Cutoff will control the frequency and Emphasis the resonance of the filter, it even will self-oscillate at high settings.

Both VCF and the VCA have their own envelope generators, with Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release, whereby Decay and Release share one controller and one switch.

The LFO is used to control the VCOs or the VCF. Modulation wheel data will also be processed.

MS Kinect Balloon Project

Balloon Project from Dan Wilcox on Vimeo.

"Experiments in balloon motion and sound using an MS Kinect depth sensing camera.

Created for the Carnegie Mellon 1st & 2nd year MFA Graduate show entitled "Fresh Baked Goods" at Bakery Square, April 2011.

A machine stands in a room surrounded by balloons. Circulating fans blow the balloons over the machine which creates sound based on their movements.

Mode 1: Tones

Balloon height and x/y position control the pitch and panning of a treble and bass voice. The tones can be quantized into a certain key or a glisssando can be employed for a theremin-style effect.

Mode 2: 99 Luftballons

The playback speed of Nena's 99 Luftballons is controlled by balloon height. The balloons must be kept in the air for the song to play. Feed the machine.

Built using Open Frameworks, ofxKinect, and Open CV for balloon tracking and Pure Data for sound generation/playback.

See danomatika.com/blog/balloon-project for more info.

Roland TR909 Quad Mod

YouTube Uploaded by sequentix on Nov 30, 2010

"Demo of a TR909 with a quad memory expansion.
I fitted a 32k FRAM chip in place of the original 8k SRAM, so no battery is needed either.
A rotary selector switch chooses which of four banks of 8k the 909 sees.
I was worried it might crash if the switch was moved without powering-off, but as it turns out, you can change bank mid-pattern and it doesn't miss a beat.

NB Modifying a 909 CPU board is not recommended unless you know exactly what you're doing. The RAM and ROM chips are soldered to the PCB, which has very delicate tracks and through hole plating. There is no space to use a socket.
You can easily damage the board.
If you *do* know what you're doing, a 32k SRAM will fit in an 8k's place with minor changes. The rotary switch selects the 4 possible combinations of the 2 extra address lines with the help of some diodes and pull-up resistors.
FRAM needs CE toggled on every access, which the 909 circuit doesn't do. You need to hack the ALE line into a spare select line on the address decoder to make it work. A 32k battery-backed SRAM wouldn't need that."
