VCS3 putney sonata #3 by Stomachlining

YouTube Uploaded by stomachlining on Sep 22, 2011

"This is a VCS3 solo, processed through a resonator. The resonating overtones are entered via a midi keyboard (the keyboard is not contributing any audio, its only duty is to send midi info to the resonator). The VCS3 oscillators slide past the chosen overtones producing a violin sound. The Putney's oscillators are controlling each other's frequencies, as osc.3 sends osc.1&2 sliding up & down (osc.3 CV is not inverted as it was on #5) & everything is ruled by the joystick.. all live... all VCS3"

the harvestman bionic lester

via the harvestman

"dual 12db/oct switched capacitor multimode filter with mode selction and clock disruption.

Bionic Lester is a dual multimode filter capable of many operational modes. Each side has dedicated lowpass and bandpass outputs, and the third output for each side can be switched between highpass, allpass, or notch. The input amplifiers for each filter are scaled to allow some distortion. The character of this distortion changes with the mode setting.

Bionic Lester has some normalled signal paths for convenient patching. The sum of the first channel's manual cutoff control and CV input are normalled to the CV input for the second channel. This allows you to control both filter sections with a single hand (or CV), useful for dual-peak or allpass phasing applications. The audio input for the first channel is also normalled to the second to facilitate parallel filtering. The filter cutoffs are determined by dividing down a high-frequency clock generator.

For the second channel, you can choose either the first or second channel's generator as a clock source. If you select both clock generators, absolutely horrifying audio garbage will result. A pushbutton control for selecting the desired amount of aliasing (minimum or maximum) applies to both sections. Resonance is voltage-controllable.

Because Lester is a switched-capacitor filter, the user must be warned of some of its characteristics. The aliasing, third output mode selection, and resonance settings are shared between both units. At lower cutoff frequencies, some aliasing may be present in the output signal depending on your resonance, aliasing, and mode settings, as well as the type of input signal. Bionic Lester does not self-oscillate using the onboard resonance control.

An expander unit will be released soon. It is a 2x3 bipolar mixer (with mutes) that invisibly attaches to Bionic Lester for patchcord-free mixing of the six outputs, with dual VCA feedback paths back into the filter sections. It also functions standalone as a performance mixer, with front-panel knobs and jacks that are also useful for injecting external signals and effects into the Lester core."

This is a Eurorack packaging of the Polivoks Generator circuit, authorized by the instrument inventor Vladimir Kuzmin. The exponential converter and temperature compensation circuits use original NOS Soviet integrated circuits. The hard sync is very sharp and the distortion on the triangle output is nice."

"This analogue monosynth from 1980 wasn't everyones cup of tea. Great for sci-fi effects but perhaps not the sweetest lead sounds. With this pack, both the sawtooth and square waves (as well as white noise) have been sampled to tape in their pure form (ie no filter/modulation etc). Now you have the ability to playback this 'mellotronized' monosynth with full polyphony - and here is where the magic begins! The Dewanatron Novitiate

The Dewanatron Novitiate by Recondite
"Here is a recording which, excepting drums, was created entirely with the one-of-a-kind Dewanatron Novitiate made by the Dewan Cousins for the Bob Moog Foundation. It is monophonic, so multitracking was necessary. It is fully analog and housed in a very cool case. The Novitiate was designed to simply synthesis for educational purposes, but sounds great in the process."

magnum opus: analog textures

magnum opus: analog textures by bartonmusic

"After years of exploring and experimenting with the Buchla 200e Electric Music Box, I have now sculpted a little piece that pays homage to the depth, insight, intuition and imagination of its master-builder: Don Buchla.

This is my brief magnum opus to Don’s constellation of expressively and musically designed modules. All sounds were created on a 12-module Buchla system.

Some sounds where processed on the fly inside Ableton Live 8 using its stock delays and reverbs along with some chorusing from Sound Toys’ Crystallizer.

If you’ve got 8’30” to spare sit back with some good studio monitors or headsets and enjoy! All best wishes, Todd"

Moon Modular 563E Trigger Sequencer EXP

via this auction

"The module format follows industry standard (synthesizers.com/ Moog/Curetronic/Mos-Lab etc.)

Module Size: 2 unit space

Trigger Sequencer Expander module for the M563 V2 Trigger Sequencer.

Each of the 32 step positions of the connected M563 V2 has now his own dedicated output jack. Note: M563 V1 sequencers can be upgraded to V2. "

Moon Modular 568A QTST Assistant

via this auction

"The M568A module is an addition to the M568 Module Quad Sequential Trigger Source. It expands the four trigger tracks of the 568 QSTS with a couple of useful features:

- each track has its own reset-input jack
- each track has two independent trigger outputs, which can be assigned to any desired step location

Assigning/deleting these positions takes place at the 568 QSTS module in combination with the, "Select A" and, "Select B" buttons at the 568A module:

Press and hold the select A/B button (set position on the 568 QSTS blink), press the desired position at the 568 QSTS.

If a 568P programmer module is attached to the 568 QSTS, the eight step-positions of the 568A will be saved together with the sequences.

- eack track has a 4-position rotary switch to select the 568 QSTS's running direction

Changing the direction (except random) doesn't happen at once but after the next reset (end/start/turning back on) of the respective track."

via NOISEBUG Reverb

"The module format follows industry standard (synthesizers.com/ Moog/Curetronic/Mos-Lab etc.)

Modules work with supply voltages of -12...-15 Volts/+12...+15 Volts

Two power connectors are on-board (synthesizers.com/Club of the Knobs),
Threshold voltage of the trigger inputs is +1 Volt.

The modules are ready to be used: insert the module, connect the power plug,
attach with a couple of screws and the fun starts...

The M511ac QUAD GATE DELAY combines four voltage controlled gate delay circuits in one module, which delay the incoming gate signals in a range from ca. 1 ms up to 20 seconds. Each delay unit hat its own pair of display LEDs.

The four gate in/outputs are internally connected like this:
Output 1 goes into input 2,
output 2 goes into input 3 and
output 3 goes into input 4.
This allows complex delay combinations without external patching.

The ‘Manual Gate’ button affects delay
input 1.

The time control voltage inputs are “chained“: i. e. a control voltage in the input 1 jack controls the inputs 2/3/4 as well, if there is nothing else patched.
(Input 1 is internally connected to +10 volts if nothing is patched).

Control range 0-10 volts, higher control voltages give longer delay times."

Ratio switch positions
- SKIP skip step
- 1 shift after one clock pulse
- 2 shift after two clock pulses
- 3 shift after three clock pulses
-4 shift after four clock pulses
-8 shift after eight clock pulses
Each switch has its own gate
output: ‘on‘ as long as step is active)."

Moon Modular 565E Quantizer Controller

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via NOISEBUG Reverb

"The module format follows industry standard (synthesizers.com/ Moog/Curetronic/Mos-Lab etc.)

Module Size: 1 unit space

The M 565 E Quantizer Controller allows to limit the output voltages generated by the M 565 v2 Quad Quantizer to any desired key, chord or note interval.

Using the array of 12 keyboard-like arranged toggle switches on the right, notes can be activated or deactivated in any combination.

The adjusted scale works over the whole quantizing range of the M 565 (10 octaves), and controls all four quantizing-units in parallel.

Up to two M 565 E Quantizer Controller modules can be connected to a single M 565 v2, which allows two different keys/scales to be used at once.

Quantizer 1 and 2 depend on the first quantizer controller, quantizer 3 and 4 on the second. The 12-position rotary switch transposes the output voltages of the connected quantizer(s) in semitone increments to the desired key

A M 565 v1 Quad Quantizer module can be updated to a v2, then allowing the connection of M 565 E Controller Modules.

Configuration of the M 565 Quantizer connected to one M 565 E controller module:

Option 1
M 565 E controls all four channels of the M 565 v2
Connect cable to the 565 v2‘s „Expander 1“ slot,
do not remove the jumper on the M 565 E.

Option 2
M 565 E controls only channel 3 and 4 of the M 565 v2
Connect cable to the 565 v2‘s „Expander 2“ slot, remove the jumper on the M 565 E.

Configuration of the M 565 Quantizer connected to two M 565 E controller modules:

The first M 565 E controls channel 1 and 2,
the second M 565 E controls channel 3 and 4

Do not remove the jumper on the first M 565 E,
connect cable to the 565 v2‘s „Expander 1“ slot.

Remove the jumper on the second M 565 v2,
connect cable to the 565 v2‘s „Expander 2“ slot."

Mattson 3X Experiment

via George Mattson

"I was wondering if I could do a 'piano finish' for the case I'm going to make for my EML sequencer/ modular. [see these posts]

In a moment of insanity, I decided to do a test run by building a 3X wide horizontal case. I figured that if it worked, great! If it didn't, I'd still have something I could use.

One day of building out of canary wood and 15 days of coating, sanding, re-coating, sanding, etc and the final polishing process let me know that yes, I CAN do a piano finish. But, My EML project isn't going to get one :) It's a lot of work.

I was trying to set it up where I could get a good angle to catch the reflective surface. Once I scrubbed the kitchen floor, it was as good as spot as any. Our cat decided to check out the new 'thing' that was invading the floor. I figured that it gives a good scale comparison. So, there he is, being a cat.

The case measures 44" W x 11" H x 3" D. It contains 36 module spaces.

I decided that it was perfect for creating a system synthetically comparable to an old stock Moog 55. I researched the 'standard' module compliment from their brochure and had to sort out cross-generation compatabilities. I came up with the following modules that I'll need to create a comparable system:
6-VCO's
1-Noise
2-VC Dual LFO
1-Sample/Hold
3-ADSR EGs
1-MIDI/CV
1-Envelope Follower
1-Quad AD/ASR EG
1-4X Gate Delay
1-8-stage Sequencer (which, I have to finish)
3-VCFs
1-Quad VCA
3-Full VCA's
1-4-channel Mixer
3-4X Buffered mults
3-4X VC Mixers
1-Utility 1

There was a lot of 'back and forth' due to some of the functions were standard within certain modules of mine.

Whether it's the same or not, who cares. It's going to be a lot of fun either way :)"

I wonder what the cat thinks. :)
