M-Z3R0 - circuit bent yamaha pss-80

YouTube Uploaded by manufacturedZ3R0 on Sep 27, 2011

"Another Yamaha pss model added to the collection. The pss-80 has a lot in common with the 30. Nice raw digital waveforms and drum sounds that work well with the analogue filter. It has a very 'aphex twin' feel to it. The demo runs through melodic to drone/noise to abstract fx using the LFO. Currently one of my favourite modified keyboards.

Yamaha Pss50/Pss9 & Casio SA1 demos to come soon. On the lookout for as many Pss models as i can find at the moment. Many are said to be 'unbendable', with a little bit of patience and some diy pcb work there's not much out there that can't be turned into something new....."

This is a 6 space 5U module that will fit well with synthesizers.com gear, moon modular and others, as well as my own MacBeth Mk1 Modular System. There is no front panel here- that's tommorow- also, the essential jack fiels board is to be added- but I couldn't resist making a couple of sounds! Proper stuff next vid!

Built in an old wooden box this synthesizer is played by bridging metal contacts with skin. While toucing the common contact you are able to select any combination of three oscillators and two LFO modulators. The pitch of the oscillators has been individually tuned lower to higher and modulate each other while being modulated by two LFOs with speeds individually tweaked, one slower and one very fast."

Just a quick video of some of my fave sounds from the 700s and also a quick tune.
I'm not "officially" back as I just about got this crappy ol' cam to work and by god was it a pain in the arse.. as to other things I'm really too busy to for interwebs at the moment.
To the video... yes I love the 80's, yes I really do love cheese.. To the second half of the video... A house tune or something I guess that was originally a old tune done on the MPC-60 which I loaded in the 2000XL and "tweeked" one day"

Buchla 259 Complex Oscillator

via this auction
via the seller: "Once upon a time, Don Buchla had a garage sale. Synth geeks familiar with Don and his work AND lucky enough to be on his call list when crazy things like this happen, got a couple of weeks to buy the NOS stock of 200 and 100 series inventory that he had left. I bought a fairly large pile of it for The Audities Foundation collection. This the last oscillator that we have left over from the 200 series systems that we've assembled for the Foundation. The parts are NOS from Don or new parts currently manufactured to original spec. It was assembled by the very talented Mark Verbos in New York and function beautifully. Please familiarize yourself with how they operate before you purchase them!! There is a lot of info on the web about all of Don's instrument designs.

So, that's it folks. It needs nothing other than a power supply with the standard Buchla rails and something to mount it in."

"My CS-80 restoration project about 1/3 completed and the instrument's health bar is finally in the green. Most of the systems are working. Enough to present to you what a properly functioning CS-80 should sound like. Definitely resides in the category "most complex production electronic musical instrument". Over 200 lbs of printed circuit board and wiring. Less than 800 CS-80s were made due to high cost and complexity. Serial numbers started at 1000 and ended before 1800. My CS-80 is serial number 1306, the 306th unit off the assembly line.

Signal path is the CS-80 ---- Lexicon 224XL digital reverberator ---- direct line audio feed into Sony HDR-XR520V HD camera."
