The BEAST Roland TR-606 SN#001 of 7

via this auction

"One of the greatest cult legend drum machines of all time, behold serial number one, the first of only 7 ever made. The following is adapted from the website:
Uploaded by shagghie on Oct 2, 2010

The fluidity of the 606, Roland's *only* drum machine that can switch seamlessly between write and play modes, is well known, however the static sound and poor interfacing leaves it wanting.
TheBeast Modification addresses these issues.

Before modification all original components are cleaned and / or replaced
All tact switches are replaced using genuine alps parts (not cheap chinease imports)
All original leds are changed to blue to match new function leds
All new parts chosen by track record for durability (eg new 'cliff' sockets, as per analogue systems modular etc.)

A live session with the beast, the Kicker, and fx pedals:

Pedal chain pain brain (live TR-606/PC-2 + pedals +fx) by highsage [Modded Beast TR-606 and PC-2 fed into a modular pedal signal chain with built in feedback loops used to create chord sounds and filters in series to get vocally-type fx from LT/HT parts. Recorded live off the mixer straight to tape with no edits. Kick is the Kicker pedal being fed the kick's trig out of the 606. Partial shot of the signal chain in the pic. Inspired by the music going on at Krautok / Maria right now in Berlin. Hope to do a similar set there live some time in the (very) near future!] This machine has more character and grit than anything out there. Best snares you'll ever hear. Most "alive" Toms ever. Unique hats and cymbals, and a kick that is perfect for today's minimal and acid. The temp mute switches are ingenious.. the ULTIMATE live jam and studio machine as a result. Build quality is unparalleled for a modified Roland of this era. This machine has been used on Vinyl releases from Berlin, as well as digital techno and acid releases in North America. It is signed on the bottom (full disclosure) by Julian, its creator. Consider this a once in a lifetime opportunity. Trig Ins and Outs Massive and wide range tunings Individual Outs Momentary latch mute switches Exotic sound Amazing to behold and use A true "wonder of the techno world" Serial #1 of what is most likely the most rare roland cult machine on earth. Some pics of the inside including cartridges for the VCA, VCF, LPF, HPF, & VCO.

"This instrament was bought at Fulton Piano and Organ Company, 363 park city center, Lancaster PA 17601 on october 31st 1975 for 842.00 and with the acception of a couple of tiny paint chips in the charcoal colored top, it looks like it was just brought home."

E-Mu Proteus FX Synthesizer

via this auction

"Taking its new design from the Vintage Keys and Morpheus modules, the Proteus FX is housed in a rugged metal casing that surprisingly weighs only a couple of pounds more than the earlier more 'plastic' and fragile-feeling Protei. The headphones socket has been brought around to the front, next to the volume control, whilst the various cursor and select buttons (including an extra directional cursor) have been grouped together to the right of the LCD and conveniently within finger-striking distance of the enlarged and responsive data entry control. Also useful, but difficult for the veteran Proteus user (i.e. myself!) to get used to, is the 'Home/enter' button. The 'enter' feature is self-explanatory, but the button's dual function enables the return of the cursor to the 'home' position (top left of the LCD) and so negates endless cursor pushing.

Like its predecessors, the Proteus FX benefits from 16-bit digital samples taken from the Emulator III sample library. The new unit has a double 8Mb sound set consisting of sample data (sound ROM), plus additional instrument data in the program ROM. The 8Mb of samples (4Mb was the standard Proteus allocation unless you had an XR model) the resulting array of 512 presets (256 of which are user-programmable) have been arranged in four banks (0-3). Banks 0 and 1 contain user RAM presets, whilst the remaining two banks contain ROM presets.

The Proteus FX also adopts a far better 'grouping' of presets, which aids easier selection of, say, a bass sound. In addition, you are also presented with a useful 3-letter prefix -- for example, gtr (guitar), eth (ethnic) and kbd (keyboard), which gives an idea of the type of sound to expect. This, along, with the inclusion of more vocal sounds means that at least Emu have been taking note of user suggestions and earlier criticisms. The Proteus FX is a superb vintage sounding synth that will fill that vintage synth sound niche you're looking for."

TSA Approved TipTop Audio Station 252

via TRASH_AUDIO where you'll find the full post and one more pic of the system in a live setting.

"One of the most important features on the 252 is its portability. It weighs 13 lbs , meets all airline regulations and folds up in less than a minute. 'The whole concept of this case, the number one design priority and as a direct result all its “downside” limitations are derived from this (shallow modules etc) need to meet this dynamically changing restriction by airliners and TSA. The case is made to fit any of those currently enforced restrictions but also keeps some room incase they change the standard, making the allowed size slightly smaller for example, or lighter etc.' – TipTop Audio"

"Roland MC-4 vintage sequencer + MTR-100 digital cassette recorder. I bought this system some months ago but never used. Seems to see working but I can't understand well due to the Japanese language setting... is possible to swap the operative system language? I sell them in as is conditions, although I'm sure that is working: When I power it on, I can read a Japanese texture which should correspond to "TB 120 30 15" as normal initial test ... I checked the numbers sequence that corresponds perfectly to 120 30 15."
