MEM - Magic Echo Music PALette Semi Modular Synth

via this auction
"PALettes have been played live by electronic and noise musicians around the world and are built to satisfy the sonic palettes of modular synth lovers and experimenters. If you are looking to get analog sounds, a unique filter that can also distort and get dirty, with a large option of CV controls on board, as well as external jacks to interface with other CV/Gate synths, this is for you.
The PALette synthesizer has two oscillators with individual and linked CV inputs, ramp, saw and square with pulse width modulation, a hard sync and a master tune control that is switchable on/off. Fine tuners make easier for playing octaves with both oscillators, and there are switches that route the LFO, two envelopes, and Sample and Hold to either oscillators. Both are callibrated to play 1V/octave with other CV, V/oct keyboards.

PINK noise and WHITE noise, Audio Input processed through the VCF.
The Sample and Hold takes external sample sources as well as on board LFO and Envelopes. The VCF is a state variable (Band Pass and Low Pass) filter based on the 13700 OTAs, designed to self oscillate at full resonance and is also callibrated to play 1V/Octave so you get your smooth bassy synth lines. There is a CV input on/off switch that routes the input to the filter from the CV input jack. This allows you to sync your CV input to the oscillators.

The Envelope Generators are routed to the oscillators, filter, and VCA by a switch and also take gate inputs. The two Gate inputs are synced so you can trigger them both, or use a dummy plug to disconnect the two. Attack and Release Envelopes will also re-trigger with the Loop switch (in trigger mode), and also can be triggered by the manual switch. Each Envelope Generator can also be triggered by the other, and will ping-pong after each Release cycle until you switch the function to "off".
More info on the PALette, samples, and photos are available at ---> www.magicechomusic.com

*Beautiful and professionally cut WALNUT sides and silkscreened smooth anodized aluminum.
*NOTE that this PALette comes with the MOOG styled knobs with silver inlay, the products page on the website pictures two different knobs.
Comes with 12Vac adapter (US 120vAC)."

Monotron loves iPhone

Uploaded by robman80808 on Oct 31, 2011
Voice Band comes in at 1:19.

"Messing around with my Korg Monotron plugged into various iPhone apps. Not trying to play anything musical!

* First I used T-Pain to autotune it. Great fun and makes the Monotron surprisingly playable.

* Next comes Voice Band. Turn your analog Monotron into a sampled synth. Wait, that is an odd idea...

* Then into Moog's awesome Filtatron for some filtering and delay.

* RJDJ next. I couldn't believe just how incredible this was! I intend to spend much time tripping away to that.

* Finally, just for fun, vocoding into iVoxel. Sound is a bit distorted - my bad. But with some twiddling you can make your Monotron polyphonic (of sorts!)

Sound quality isn't great as I'm having sound card issues and this is my first video. So pops, crackles and sync issues are down to the video, not the apps.

Enjoy having fun with your Monotron and a couple of dollars worth of iPhone apps!"

8-bit Sampler (Prototype 1 - Logic Design)

YouTube Uploaded by SeaweedFactory on Nov 1, 2011

"This is a prototype 8-bit sampler constructed using only logic 4000 series ICs, a serial ADC, a parallel DAC, and 8K of memory. It is configured to loop whatever is played into it, in this case some drums and a bass line. When the write line is tied to ground, it passes the bit-reduced signal from the ADC shift register to the DAC. It doesn't sound good for a number of reasons, the first being the unstable configuration for the serial ADC and it's associated shift register."

I'm creating a new Breadboard label for these. If you ever see a post that should get it, past or present, feel free to comment and/or let me know.

monome 80h 128 button array with aluminum faceplate

via this auction

"You are bidding two monome 40h kits that have been combined to form what is known as monome 80h or 128.

Please note that these are not the newer monome kits that are comprised of a logic board, a driver and a keypad rather this is the older 40h kits that are comprised of simply a logic board and a keypad.

The two kits are connected via a Belkin USB hub and have worked fine for me without a power supply connected to a MacBook Pro - however according to official specifications not all systems may be able to power two 40h units connected to a hub without power so there is a wall wort included just in case.

The faceplate of the unit is made of machined aluminum that I purchased from a forum member on monome.org - there are some blemishes on the aluminum that were created during the anodizing process.

The logic board and hub are attached a back plate made of plexiglass which is connected to the faceplate via machine screws in a sandwich style configuration - there are no sides on the unit."

Schubert: Ständchen

YouTube Uploaded by ScrollingMusic on Nov 1, 2011

"Franz Schubert (1797-1828): Ständchen, from Schwanengesang, D 957, a posthumous collection of songs. Ständchen ("Serenade"; the singer exhorts his lover to make him happy)

The song featured may be the most popular of Schubert's songs in this collection, which uses poems by three poets, Ludwig Rellstab (poet of this song), Heinrich Heine and Johann Gabriel Seidl.

The notes in the bass is a combination of several existing synthesized instrument sounds (clarinet, electric piano, vibraphone and guitar) with modified attack, decay, sustain, and release parameters. The sound for the voice is also a mix of sustaining instruments: clarinet, saxophone, organ, and vibrato wind to name a few.

We used a scrolling spectrogram, as the graphic plot of the spectral content of an audio signal. The vertical axis represents frequency, and the horizontal axis time. Higher-pitched notes appear higher up on the screen, and the harmonics for each individual note are visible above the fundamental at regularly spaced intervals."

A small Zimbelstern

YouTube Uploaded by organfairy on Nov 1, 2011

"And "what is a zimbelstern" you may ask. Basically it is a set of wind chimes that was often build into German renaissance organs. When a knob was drawn on the console the bells started ringing in a semi-random fashion.

I had a handfull of small leftover bells. So I figured it could be fun to make a small home-version of the zimbelstern. And so I did using whatever I could find in my bicycle shed.

The music is something I made in 2006. The organ voices and the rhythm comes from the Elka EP-8 organ. The solo in the middle is played on a Casio CZ-101. The rest is played on Yamaha HE-8 organ and Rolan JX-8P synthesizer."
