"Dual Zero Thru VCO on a Pro Front Panel Express Panel. This is capable of doing some deep FM Bell-ish, and Metal sounds. This is a great alternative to the very hard to get and super long waiting list cyndustries zeroscillator. I offer (2) VCO's at a great price. This was my own self made Prototype. Here is a video [later posted] of the same circuit board but on a Gold panel. I decided to keep the gold ones and sell this fancy FPE Proto to those that have been dreaming of Zero Thru VCO's for there Euro FOrmat case.

The PCB board itself is Pro CNC made and will last a very long time.

Here are the specs:

EACH VCO HAS
(2) Expo 1v/oct PCV inputs

WAVES: Triangle, Sine, SAW

(1) Varible Sync Input with Knob
(2) FM LINEAR INPUTS, (1) Of them is selectable by switch (AC or DC)

Controls: (1) Tune Knob, (1) Fine Tune Knob, (1) Varible Sync, (1) Zero Thru Folder control

This will come with (2) IDC Euro Format Ribbon cables. They are 10pin to 16pin IDC type..."

Little Drummer Boy Performed by Robot Snare Drum and HP Scanner

YouTube Uploaded by bd594 on Dec 12, 2011

"Hello I would like to thank all my channel subscribers for joining and have a safe holiday and a Merry Christmas

BD594, Toronto, Canada

This project was a really difficult, it was 70% timing and 30% execution. Many people have seen videos with floppies and stepper motors playing songs. These motors have a quick response time because they are not under a heavy load. The problem with a flatbed scanner is the large moving carriage head. It was not designed to move quickly and when it is playing music you will notice the head changes directions. This is to prevent the carriage from smashing into the chassis. So as the notes are playing the carriage head has to periodically change direction and this will add many seconds to a 3 or 4 minute song. As for the drums they are just a couple of solenoids connected to a pulley system in order to ampilfy the movement.

My Tangerines dream of a Diva in a red shift - free download

My Tangerines dream of a Diva in a red shift - free download by OctopusEmpire
"An ambient track, the inspiration should be obvious from the track title. All sounds except drums are from the latest beta of U-He Diva, no analog synths were harmed in the making of this track. Some reverb overall from Logic, otherwise all effects from Diva.
All patches are original, no presets used.

If there were underwater nightclubs with chillout rooms, this would be what hundreds of Octopi would be grooving around to, I'm sure.
Enjoy."

Gets going after the three minute mark.

Update: New mix:

Fearless love (Sleepwalker solitude mix) by OctopusEmpire
"'Ready to be, what I am
Still not knowing what it includes"
At the request of rbarata on KVR, I reworked my Diva demo - My Tangerines dream of a Diva in a Red Shift. The original moved from fairly experimental to predictable Berlin school electronica about half way through. The challenge was to redo the track without this shift to make the track more true to it's beginnings.
With the addition of a stunning emotional vocal from rain_and_sun and a few more hours of work Fearless love (Sleepwalker solitude mix) was finished. It is by far my most experimental piece but probably one of the most rewarding, emotional and powerful pieces I have written (in my humble opinion).
It is difficult to leave a track so sparse, there are always empty areas that could be filled in with more and more noises. My pride and enjoyment from this piece comes from not filling in those gaps.
Thankyou to rain_and_sun and to rbarata without whom this track would not have been."

Doepfer A100 Basic System 2 Portable (Black Case) With MIDI

via this auction

Noisebug (RSS)

"The a-100 basic system 2 is a portable true analog modular synthesizer. This modular system is capable of creating basslines, leads, pads, percussion and effects plus filter processing. The Midi module makes this system compatible with keyboards, sequencers and computers.

The voltage-controlled oscillators have a solid frequency range of eight octaves. It can produce four waveforms simultaneously: square, sawtooth, triangle, and sine wave. The frequency or pitch of the vco is determined by the position of the octave (range) switch and tuning (tune) knob, and by the voltage present at the cv inputs. Frequency modulation (fm) of the vco is therefore a possibility. Footage (the octave of the fundamental) is set by the range control, and fine tuning controlled by the tune knob.

Also included is a voltage controlled low-pass filter, which filters out the higher parts of the sound spectrum, and lets lower frequencies pass through. the cut-off frequency determines the point at which filtering takes effect. You can control this manually, or by voltage control (filter modulation, for instance by an lfo). The vcf1 is a "transistor ladder" design, with a cut-off slope of -24 db/octave, as in various moog synthesizers. That's what gives it its classic, legendary moog sound. The filter resonance (or emphasis) is adjustable all the way up to self-oscillation - in which case the filter behaves like a sine wave oscillator.

This system is based on the Eurorack format and is compatible with most of the new eurorack module makers out there along with modular synths and vintage keyboards like Arp, Moog and Oberheim. It is also 100% Portable!

A Note From x0xi0

x0xi0 sells mod kits for x0xb0x. The following is a note from creator Brian Castro. Apparently there are knock offs of the x0xi0 box out there and Brian has been receiving support requests for them. Moving forward x0xi0 will only be offering support for kits purchased directly from their site.

via Brian of x0xi0
(thread on adafruit):

"I have been receiving requests for service on numerous of these synths that aren't mine. As I've mentioned, I have no problem with someone integrating my original published circuit designs into their product, but it should be clearly noted that these are not x0xi0's. It took me several years design and refine this product, and several years to build the brand reputation. I design pro audio electronics as a sole source of income. I have retail products coming in 2012 that are based on my x0xi0 designs.

The reputation of my companies is already taking a hit from these products that are not mine. I take pride in the quality of my kits and retail product and I am proud that they are designed and built in the USA using local vendors and only the best quality parts.

More so, I have been holding back the release of new product simply out of respect of those who are waiting for completed documentation for the x0xi0 custom build kits, and here we have someone trying to copy the design for which there isn't even a completed owners manual... then they get sent to me for support."

C-MOnSter - CMOS Based Polyphonic Synthesizer

"This is a keyboard controlled top octave synth that uses almost exclusively simple CMOS circuits to create and modify the sound. The full explanation is here."

C-MOnSter - CMOS Based Polyphonic Synthesizer

Uploaded by Cynosure48 on Dec 11, 2011

"This is the technical explanation of a CMOS based top octave synthesizer. Check out my other video for a sound demo. The synth uses mostly CMOS chips to generate a the top octave twice, then divides it to get the rest of the notes. The sound is then shaped and processed uses more CMOS circuits, before finally going through dual Wasp filters.

Lots of thanks to all the great people on the electro-music forum and in the chat room for answering all of my questions.

I do not have a schematic for the entire synth. I do have schematics for many of the individual circuits. Send me a message with the circuit you are looking for and I will share the schematic I used."

It combines four effects ; Chorus (analog circuitry similar to the roland dc 20/30) Echo (tape delay / 6 six modes ) Sound on sound (tape layering effect unique to the 501) Reverb (spring reverb tank) All effects can be used alone on mixed in any combination. In my opinion the sound is clean though the delay is still very much tape like in character. Where this equipment shines is in the ability to create and mix together very beautiful chorus/ delays/ reverbs so easily."

Oberheim OB-X 8-Voice Analogue Synth SN 800207

via this auction

"Entire synth re-capped, from the power supply to the voice cards and everything in between. That means all the(over 80!) tired electrolyic and (unreliable) tantlum capacitors have been replaced with high quality new ones.

Every internal calibration pot(over 100!) has been replaced and upgraded(obeheim used cheap open types) with high spec 25 turn cemet types(more accurate tuning) or sealed single turn cemets pots(or carbon according to specs). This improves tuning and general adjustment stability on the OB-X massively!

Entire keybed stripped, cleaned, rebushed(61 new pratt-reed bushes!), rebuilt and aligned. Makes the keybed play as new!

Many of the unreliable CMOS logic IC's and old Op-amps have been replaced and upgraded.

Modified to run a single more modern EPROM. This removes the need for the -5 and +12 power supplies, removing load from the supply and improving reliability

Every control pot stripped, cleaned and lubricated.

Every switch stripped, cleaned, lubricated and rebuilt.

Every molex connector(100's of solder connections) resoldered, to cure and protect against cold(broken) solder joints. (very common OB-X fault)

Power supply upgraded with beefier 4 amp bridge rectifiers(the originals are a known problem) and new +15/-15 regulators.

New Lithium coin cell type memory battery fitted with holder.(makes for very simple future replacement)"
