a 40106 oscillator is clocking a 4040 divider of which /2 is then clocking a perf board version of the logic from Ken Stone's CGS Master DIvider. those outs are then triggering 4 DS8 drum clones, as well as 3 Oscillators through VCAs. There are also some LFO cutoff controlled filters with different pitched 40106 Osc. all running to mixers then on to a Roland JC-50. Recorded directly through iphone via 8mm app."

A Minimoog D Saved From Fire & Juno the Main Coon Kitten

via Jorge: "This is Juno my new Maine Coon Kitten sitting on my Prized Minimoog D.

A little Background about my Mini.

Almost 2 years ago I got this Mini From Craigslist Virginia, Funny thing though is that the guy that had it happened to go to the same High School I went to in the early 80’s.

He said he got it when he worked at Venamin’s Music in Springfield VA, working as a manager in the 80’s. This Mini Spent most of its life in his Basement studio and survived a fire that burned the entire house down except a closet that was in his basement where the Mini was stored in an Anvil case.

When I got it, It was in fair shape but I was determined to make look and play like new. I had all the electronics restored and had the wood case professionally refinished. I was even able to replace both the Mod & Pitch wheels with NOS from Mike Bucki, he even had an Original Moog sticker from the 70’s that went in the back of the Mini.

All I can say now is that This Mini is one of my favorite synths in my studio it plays and sounds wonderful."

Here are a few pics.

What a sight that would be.

via kent back in 2007: "There was a guy selling a pile of synths and odd drum machine stuff at the MauernPark Flohmarkt (Wall Park Flea Market) in Berlin this last Sunday."

If you're wondering why it took five years to put this up, I changed my email address from the matrixsynth.com domain to gmail years ago.  Some stuff apparently  came in on that old address that I missed.  The previous posts from J chot (1, 2, 3) and makingsound where some of them.  This one should be the last though.  If you have my old matrixsynth.com address still saved, you might want to update it at this point. :)

Gakken SX-150 Ribbon Synthesizer, Modified

via this auction

"I have this one modified with a CV or control voltage input, which I used with an Arduino in order to play it using a MIDI keyboard. That might sound fairly crazy, but if you look online, there are instructions for much more than that. I also modified it to have a mono 1/4" jack output, which is the same as what a guitar output is. This makes the thing more useful as an actual instrument.

I also hacked on a jack for a 7.2v radio controlled car battery, as I have a bunch of them sitting around, they're fast to charge, and something like this runs forever off of a battery like that. The bottom of the synth is open, so if you don't want the battery jack, you can just snip it off.

Also included is the magazine that the synth original came with. Lots of interesting photos, but almost all in Japanese."

PPG Waveterm A + EVU Expansion Voice Unit for Sale

via this auction

"PPG EVU Expansion Voice Unit module

This is the "brains" of a PPG Wave 2.3: Classic vintage 8 voice wavetable synth; digital oscillators for complex waveforms; warmed up with rich analog filters [8x Curtis SSM 2044 VCF chips], designed by Wolfgang Palm, used by famously by David Bowie, The Fixx, Trevor Horn, Jean Michel Jarre, Art of Noise, Rush, Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, Robert Palmer, Psychadelic Furs, Talk Talk, The Cars, Ultravox, Steve Winwood, Rush, Stevie Nicks, Thomas Dolby, Pet Shop Boys, Mike and the Mechanics, and Stevie Wonder.

If you already have a PPG Wave with an active PPG Bus, the unit will work directly, but won't work with MIDI until you or a technician complete

When complete, you can sample with the Waveterm-A, edit the sounds via MIDI over sysex and dump wavetables back and forth from computer to EVU and Waveterm-A.

However the buyer should know:

Double Andore test (#4)

"... sans manual, the learning curve of The Harvestman's Double Andore module (essentially two AD / AHD envelope generators & two VCA's with HEAPS of cross-modulation & routing possibilities & several pre-programmed wave-shapes on a set of digital voice-boards) is significantly steeper than most (save for the MakeNoise Maths, with which it shares some functional similarity / complexity, even if they sound/work in COMPLETELY different ways) ; watch as i fumble through discovery, arbitrarily twisting knobs until it starts sounding like "music" (i kid, i watched the Trash Audio video about 15x just now & even made a little "map" in my notebook) ...

This video was shot with a Canon Digital Rebel T2i (with the macro lens) hovering about 6 feet above the synth ; audio was piped directly out of a Radial Stereo Direct Inject box into the stereo "mic" input of the camera (hence the overall dynamic awesomeness) ..."

I was trying to figure out what the repeating sound that comes in at about 9 seconds reminded me of.
Here you go:

"Teddy Bear," the porcupine, doesn't like to share...

At :47 - "It's my cob!" Don't miss him in his Santa hat, in the thumbnails after the video ends.

Tempest Demo 1, rough

YouTube Uploaded by d4nnyp on Dec 19, 2011

"Quick Tempest Demo, its a kit I put together with a mix of tweaked factory and made from scratch sounds. Its all tempest with reverb from an EHX Cathedral pedal. It was a pretty rough take as I wanted to do a demo more than a tune, so its a bit like "new toy" time!
There is a bit of noise on it too, I forgot to unplug the PC out from the mixer and the PC noise gets sent down the wire!. The Tempest itself is noise free and sounds lovely.
Hopefully the video shows some of the fun to be had when its Tempest time.
If I get round to recording it as a tune then I may add it later."

Not the best pics, but some info and you don't see these too often.

"The DRUM-X is a great analog drum synthesizer made in the early 80's and sold by Pearl. It was usually sold with a set of drum pads to use for triggers but those are not included. It is more often used today by triggering it's sounds from another drum machine or even live drums. I've usually run individual inputs to it from the multi tracks of live drums and have never had any problems using it. There are 5 different sounds available at one time (Kick, Snare, and 3 Toms) and all 5 have individual outputs as well as a mixed out. It is programmable and you can store up to 8 drum kits of your own synthesized sounds at one time."

NAMM: Pittsburgh Modular VC Bend Introduction Video

YouTube Uploaded by amphonic on Jan 12, 2012

The VC Bend is designed as a way to create less than certain variations from pre-determined control voltages, like transposing / inverting a bassline into a melody or creating a 3rd envelope from 2 sources. Used at audio rate, it acts like a voltage controlled full wave rectifier. The VC Bend favours 'esoteric' applications over precision. More often than not the output voltage will not resemble the input. Functionally, the VC Bend sits somewhere between a sample and hold and a quantizer module. However, the type of modulation produced is completely unique to the VC Bend."

In 2012, only one year after his first successful product on the market, Feeltune is proud to present the next generation in the Rhizome range. Our team has worked hard to satisfy the top quality requirements of ours users, and we’re proud to announce these two new products:

Rhizome SXE
