Ensoniq Fizmo Demo featuring Vox Humana

YouTube Uploaded by stuthomson on Feb 16, 2012

Comes in at :49.

"Some of my patches on the Ensoniq Fizmo Digital Transwave Synthesizer. Another flop in the Synthesizer market, causing the death of Ensoniq. There is debate on exactly how many were made. Some sites say 500 keyboards and 200 rack versions, other say 2000 keyboards and about 500 rack versions. Mine is serial number 10936, so . . 2000? The machine has a reputation for making only metallic churning noises, therefore . . useless.
I've used it in several recordings. BTW you can kill the churn."

Barry Schrader & Death of the Red Planet

CEC eContact! has a post up on a 1973 article from American Cinematographer on the film Death of the Red Planet. The film was by Dale Allan Pelton and featured music from Barry Schrader on the Buchla 200. From Dale in the page pictured to the left:

"At last I heard Celebration, a work by Barry Schrader, a young teacher of electronic music at Cal-Arts. I immediately knew he was the one to score the film. He had a unique ability to generate startling high-energy music. Barry's final quadraphonic mix was produced in the space of two months after many all-night sessions with the Buchla 200 electronic music synthesizer. Using complex timbres and as many as twenty layered tracks, Barry achieved incredible sound densities (sound events per unit time). The Buchla sound is quite different from that of the Moog synthesizer which we have become famiiliar with in pop music. The Buchla does not use a keyboard. The various sound events and dialogues amongst its modules are initiated internally, and externally controlled by touch sensitive tabs."

You can find other films by Dale Allan Pelton on IMDB here and Barry Schrader here. You can find Barry Schrader's official website here.

Update: you can find an excerpt of the music on Barry Schrader's site here. You'll also find some additional notes and pics.

Kilpatrick Audio K1600 Midi/CV Interface

via this auction
"Overview:
Kilpatrick´s K1600 is a duophonic MIDI/CV converter module. It converts your MIDI signals into control voltages, gates, triggers, gates

Technical details:
If you are looking for a way to control two or more oscillators via MIDI for playing big fat analog chords, the K1600 can take you there. Its two CV/gate outputs can work in split keyboard or duo-phonic mode. But if you install multiple K1600s in your system, you can support 4, 6, 8 or more voices of polyphony simply by daisy-chaining the modules together. The intelligent voice-priority algorithm makes multiple units behave as one. So stop thinking of modular synthesis as monophonic... polyphony is closer than you think!

Expansion:
The K1600 also acts as an expansion module for other Kilpatrick Audio modular products which support the internal MIDI header. This includes the K4815 Pattern Generator, which contains a full MIDI implementation in addition to the existing analog connections.

✔ MIDI soft-thru for daisy-chaining multiple units
✔ Quick programming with MIDI learn function
✔ Multi-channel and split-keyboard support for independent control of different outputs
✔ Polyphonic CV/gate output - duophonic support with a single K1600
✔ Polyphonic mode with 4, 6, 8, etc. voices using multiple K1600s
✔ CV pitch bend support
✔ Four drum trigger outputs
✔ Continuous controllers (CC) mappable to any CV/gate or trigger output

Inputs and outputs:
The K1600 MIDI Converter provides 10 outputs in the analog domain. Two pairs of CV and gate outputs provide high resolution note control, four trigger outputs allow analog drum modules to be used with MIDI drum machines, and the clock and reset outputs enable MIDI control over analog clock-based devices such as sequencers.

Measures and weight:
3U Eurorack module.
module width 12HP
current draw: +/-12V (<20mA) and +5V (approx. 50mA)"

The Protoclidean sequencer for Ableton Live

YouTube Uploaded by designthemedia on Feb 16, 2012

"Soon available, you can check this post
http://julienbayle.net/2012/02/12/maybe-the-next-sequencer/

Features
- 8 independant channels
- step number + number of notes + offset + pitch + velocity for each channels
- accurate synchro to Live transport
- scaler helper to choose a scale across each channel
- GM Drum-map mode with the 8 first standard MIDI Drum map notes accross channels
- notes randomizer with min/max limits
- all parameters are auto mappable to any control surfaces compatible with Live
- built-in help

The Protoclidean Sequencer is based on Euclidan algorithm.
This is one of the oldest mathematical algorithm ever.
It offers a very simple way to distribute the most evenly possible a particular number of objects inside a particular number of slots.

The Protoclidean implements this algorithm to place a particular number of notes into a particular number of slots.
That way, you can easily create sequences using odd or even number of steps without the need of creating a lot of clips with different size in your liveset, you can also play live with it, using the banks storage/load feature."

Lemur for iPad Tutorial Pt 1 - How to Create Your Own Interface

YouTube Uploaded by DubSpot on Jan 6, 2012

Also see the tutorials at the bottom of this post from Liine.

"More info - http://bit.ly/AsK8eS
The original Lemur was a hardware unit, introduced back in 2004. Used by the likes of Björk, Richard Devine, and Modeselektor to name a few, it was one of the first multitouch touch screen controllers. After years of woe and longing, the legendary Lemur software is available for use on iOS devices. The main advantage of using a touch screen controller is the fact that you can create your own unique interfaces, full of buttons, knobs, pads, faders, or whatever else you'd like. The Lemur Editor (formerly called the JazzEditor), is software that runs on your computer, and is where custom interfaces are created for use with Lemur.

In part one of this two-part series, basic setup of the Lemur and Lemur Editor are explained. To start, an Ad-Hoc network is created. Once the iPad running Lemur software is connected, it will automatically update with the changes made in the editor. As far as objects go, we'll start with the Fader and MultiBall. A great thing about the Lemur is its physics engine, which we can use with both objects. After MIDI is set up, it's time to take a look at the Lemur Daemon. The Lemur Daemon brokers internal MIDI connections between incoming Lemur control signals and other programs running on your computer, such as Ableton Live. Here, we set up the connection manually."
