Doepfer A-109 VC Signal Processor

via this auction

"Module A-109 is a voltage controlled audio signal processor containing the following components:

VCF: 24 dB Low Pass with voltage controlled resonance
VCA
PAN: Panning unit (two complementary controlled VCAs)

The VCF is a standard 4 pole low pass filter with voltage controlled resonance. The filter has a so-called "constant amplitude versus resonance design", i.e. the peak-to-peak output level remains within 6dB when the output waveform rings from added resonance. Manual controls for frequency and resonance are available as well as 2 CV inputs for both (one with attenuator). The frequency range is about 5 Hz ... 20kHz, resonance ranges from 0dB up to self oscillation.

The main VCA has a combined exponential/linear control scale: exponential from about 0...+200mV (corresponding to about -100dB ... -20dB), linear from about 200mV...+5V (corresponding to -20dB...0dB). The "rounded" knee at the scale bottom allows an envelope to decay to zero with a natural exponential sound. Manual control for amplitude is available as well as 2 CV inputs (one with attenuator)."

Midi / Error!! /// phulebox2012 \\\ Multi-Effects Unit - playstation controller + MaxMSP

YouTube Uploaded by midierror on Mar 22, 2010

"This is my final year uni project from a few years back. Its a software multi-effects unit I built in MaxMSP. It is controlled using a playstation controller, and is designed to be used while DJing. That said, it can be used with any input device such as a guitar, mic, drum machine, commodore 64, or minidisc player.

It has had changes made to make the screen more functional and user friendly. The 'engine' routing matrix is now hidden and all its settings can be changed using the directions.

Each of the effects can be fed through one another, or used singularly. The analog sticks control four parameters that can be locked to store placement.

At the time this was amazingly difficult to program, and the front end was a full screen. Its looking swish in MaxMSP5 !"

The tablet has 3 buttons for on/off states and features pressure sensitivity......therefore a total of 9 parameters can be changed using it. Im going to dig a bit deeper with this idea, and see what I can make; particularly in terms of synth playback."

Additional videos here
"Stochastik is a full-featured Drum Machine with one outstanding difference. Unlike any other Drum Machine, Stochastik lets you set a *probability* that a note will trigger for each step. So, your basic beat can rock steady while accents and syncopation only happen every so often.

Once you add chance into the mix, you can generate thousands of unique variations *automatically* in the time it takes to sequence (one, two or four) bars. It's as easy as programming a static loop but it generates a dynamic track -- no more repetitive beats! Over a thousand of high-quality samples are included, from classic analog drum machines of the past to pristine acoustic jazz and rock kits. You can mix and match samples to create the perfect kit for each song. Plus, you can import your own samples through iTunes File Sharing, email or the Dropbox iPad App.

Stochastik was made to share, so you can collaborate with your friends by emailing or uploading your song, pattern and kit settings.

Stochastik plays well with other apps. When you bounce your pattern to a wav file, it's automatically put in the clipboard for pasting into other apps. With WIST, you can wirelessly sync with other devices. With background audio, you can let Stochastik lay down the beat while you use a synth. MIDI is coming soon.

"A HEDOCO product. hedoco.com
A project by panGenerator. pangenerator.com

Traditional musical instruments rarely require the artist to engage his/her entire body. Dodecaudion, a Polish invention, challenges this stereotype and brings a new quality into the world of professional music.

What is Dodecaudion? It is the effect of collaboration of panGenerator group and the Hedoco brand. In a nutshell, Dodecaudion is a musical instrument – a spatial controller in the form of a regular dodecahedron. Each face of this device has an ”eye” with integrated infrared sensor which collects information on the presence and distance of the musician’s hands. Therefore, Dodecaudion is a gesticulative instrument which requires the artist to move his/her hands and the entire body, get the palms closer to the device and take them away, and shape them in various configurations. In this way Dodecaudion offers novel, extraordinary stage possibilities: while generating sounds, the user can dance and at the same time open a new dimension of music during a performance or concert.

The heart of Dodecaudion is Arduino, an electronic platform integrated with the device, which could be used thanks to the idea of open technologies (Open Source as well as Creative Commons and MIT licences). Arduino collects data from all sensors and transfers them to the computer, so they can be used not only during live concerts, but also in any other way, from sound processing and synthesis to creating visual effects.

The use of open Arduino platform gives artists an unlimited access to the functions of the instrument, and allows for its reprogramming and adjustment to individual needs. It is an asset of the Open Source which gives the users a possibility to find new solutions and applications by themselves.

Currently, we are working on the production of the first Dodecaudions intended for sale. The target clients are professional musicians from all over the world, DJs, performers, and people fascinated by this unique electronic instrument.

How was Dodecaudion created? The concept developed by four visionary artists forming panGenerator group emerged in autumn 2010. Six month later, Modern Arts Management company joined the project and the works accelerated. The financial support of the Hedoco brand owners brought results: in July 2011, Dodecaudion’s prototype was constructed, and in August, the first concert was held to test the instrument.

"Take three Q106 triangle oscillators(at 32', 16', and 8'). Mix and run through an STG Wavefolder, then into an STG Post-Lawsuit Lowpass Filter. Send the filter output to an Oakley Deep Equinoxe Phaser. Take the output of that and add a smidgen of delay. And that's it.

Oh, it also helps to have three channels of sequencing. The master clock is a Q960. Running at half speed from that is a Voltage Mini-Store. And at 1/8 speed is a Q119. Mix all three sequencer outputs, and you have the pitch CV. The Deep Equinoxe has its modulation output driven by an SSL Tap Tempo LFO with an upward sawtooth rather than its onboard LFO.

As always, the shakey, out of focus camera work is my bête noire. Sorry about that!"
