EMS Synthi Sequencer 256 in original crate with paperwork

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction

Pics of the inside below.

"3 Layers with 2 Control Voltages plus Key Parameters, Fourth Key only Layer, Five Octave Velocity Sensistive Keyboard, 256 Event x 42 bit Memory Each event comprises 2 x 6-bit Control Voltages and 13-bit Start & Stop times, Internal (0.1 - 200 Hz) or External Clock, Plays Forwards and Backwards, Editing. Comes with original set of schematics and its original shipping crate (minus the original foam which was removed due to crumbling). This is a very lightly used super rare EMS unit that when built was six times the price of a Synthi AKS. To create this unit in its day required super high level engineering and design. Thus this unit is extremely complex in nature and will require a well trained technician for all maintenance. Currently the unit is “working”. I add quotations to working because the unit has not been serviced and brought up to factory spec and therefore should be considered unreliable until fully serviced..."

Paradiso Modular - Online Physical Programable Modular

The Paradiso modular was recently featured in this video. What you might have missed, myself included, is that it is actually programmable online here. Via Wired : "Now, anyone can play one of the biggest modular synthesizers in the world, thanks to a new project, code-named 'PatchWerk.' With PatchWerk’s simple web interface, users around the world can control the colossal rig in real time, from its current home at the MIT Museum...

By manipulating various toggles on the web interface, users around the world can turn on a sweeping oscillator sound, activate the chaotic sequencer, turn on drum machines and a growling speech synthesizer sound, control frequency and tempo, and much more. Letting anyone play the synth in real time could potentially lead to chaos, but the current design of PatchWerk — which has a small group of users experiment with sounds while other users wait in a queue — is meant to help control for that... (You can listen to the synth at any time, day or night.)"

If you take a look at the Paradiso label you'll see the first mention comes in the comments of this Cat on a Modular post from back in 2005.

Googlish (original French below):

"(Download this demo, Soundcloud compression does not do him homage)

The Hertz Donut is a module for Eurorack format modular synthesizer.
This is a dual digital oscillator, in the spirit of 259 Buchla module.

The Harvestman is deemed to have commenced large (and talent) for digital modules in a universe far largely remained analog.
Its muscular and virile modules show that "digital" is not always a dirty word, and that marrying these two worlds, one can obtain very interesting textures.

Custom Beat707

via William Kalfelz of Beat707 on

via OnOff on the Beat707 Forum

"Beat707 is an Arduino Shield that adds several neat features to your musical arsenal. You get a 32 step machine, (plus 32 double-steps for a total of 64 steps) with 16 step buttons and leds, LCD screen and navigation keys. It's like the classic Roland TR707 but with some twists, as it actually has 64 x 1/32 or 32 x 1/64 steps. Plus, the 2 note-step sequence feature allows you to do bass and/or synth grooves -- it's a MIDI groove-box all in one ! The unit doesn't produce any sound, it's all MIDI based, so you can use any MIDI compatible device."
