"Oberheim OBX, 8 voice synthesizer with Encore midi. One of the legendary monsters of analog. The Encore midi gives it 120 programs instead of the original 32 in most OBX synthesizers. The paint and finish is in very good condition, beautiful for a synth this old, though there are some nicks here and there as will most vintage items. It was a 4 voice which was upgraded to 8 voices and the Encore midi added. Notice it has the large sequencer socket to the upper left of the Encore midi board. This is for plugging in a compatible ribbon cable to connect with an Oberheim DSX sequencer. The color scheme is the later darker grey color with the grey blocks on the mod panel..."

The Feedback Machine by Music For Isolation Tanks

"Recorded in the studio by the mid 1990s three piece lineup of Music For Isolation Tanks. The Feedback Machine is a masterpiece of Analog circuitry and Human interaction. Features an EMS VCS3 (Putney) in the title role as well as all sorts of 1980s and 90s Analog Drum Machine and Synth goodness.

This album was originally recorded "live in the Studio" and released as one continuous track. To get the full impact of The Feedback Machine I recommend you listen to it in it's entirety from beginning to end as it was designed to be heard. I have made it available at a discounted price for those wishing to do so.

David Talento with two of the greatest Electronic musicians I have had the pleasure of working with. We were the MFIT trio doing some underground shows in and around Phila and I'm thankful that I had the mindset to capture the three of us recording this master mess.

Look up both these gentlemen to see the great heights they have achieved since:

DSI Mopho - 80s ARP

"We are using the 2 Sub Oscillators and the ARP 2-octave up & down to create the sound; then sequencing 2 notes, 1 octave apart which is creating the 3 octaves sequence basis.
The first part of the sequence, only DCO 1 can be heard.
The second part of the sequence, we are using iControlMIDI to slowly move the DCO Mix towards DCO 2; which has a high pitched Oscillator modulated by LFO 1.
The third part of the sequence, we are using iControlMIDI to change the LFO1 Waveform from Square to Random, then back to Square.
The fourth and last part of the sequence, we are using iControlMIDI so fade out the VCA.
There is a high end (hardware) reverb.
There is no drum machine and only one track / one sound."

All Euro format modular. Modcan Touch sequencer providing the bassline from an AFG through a Sound of Shadows. FM'd sounds from the Hertz Donut arpeggiated from the Flame Chord Machine which also pruduces quantized cv's for the quad VCLFO from Doepfer to provide the chords from the Pressure Points. Percussion from noise from Noise ring going through the notch pass of a Div 6 Filtare.
Lots of other stuff going on including the bouncing ball patch on Maths, and wavefolded sine from a Z3000.
Floral stuff thanks to a mild Spring in South London!"

"This video kind of starts where my last video 'Vernal Season' left off. It begins with a 4-step sequence on the Synthesizers.com Q960 with only step 1, 3 and 4 active on the Q963 trigger bus. During the song I alternate between the 3 rows of the Q960 using the Q962 sequential switch. The Q960 drives the Rob Hordijk OSC HRM, one Synthesizers.com Q106 VCO and the Ian Fritz Teezer Through-Zero VCO connected to the Blacet Miniwave. The Mellotron strings, played on the Roland XP-80, joins and after that a 4-step sequence on row one of the Doepfer MAQ16/3 driving the Creamware MiniMax ASB. An 8-step sequence from the MAQ16/3 driving the self-built Modular joins after that. The Klaus Schulze like S&H percussion comes from the Waldorf Q Keyboard. The solo's are performed on the Clavia Nord Lead 1.

The video is filmed by my girlfriend Anne using my iPhone 4.

You can download/see/hear the video and music from my website soon."

VSP-330 r2 VST plugin Sound Test (Roland VP-330)

YouTube Uploaded by gstormelectro on Apr 5, 2012

For r2.0 I'm re-developing the VSP-330 from the ground up. The VSP-330 VST plugin is based on the vintage Roland VP-330 choirs and strings. This time around my goal IS to provide a faithful emulation replacing the instrument itself.

The difference that sets this emulation apart from all others out there: absolutely no samples are used in this plugin. I have taken great time and effort emulating the exact same synthesis and effects-processing architecture as the original vintage hardware.

The sounds you hear are testing the plugin against a real MKI VP-330. Which is the real one and which is the plugin? You might hear sustaining notes getting robbed....um yeah that would be the MKI (because it is PARAphonic, the whole key range sharing a single envelope) - a problem not encountered on the POLYphonic plugin.

The visuals are frequency spectral analysis and psycho-acoustic spatial imaging provided by Ozone 3. Sorry the spatial imaging is blurry and indistinct....cheap video camera."

The Voice of Saturn Synthesizer Eurorack Module

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction

"This is my first run of production prototype Voice of Saturn Synthesizer Eurorack modules. The guts are the same as the original Voice of Saturn Synth of which there are tons of videos on the web but I've finally got around to adapting it to the Eurorack standard. The synth features 2 oscillators that are coupled with each other to create anything from deep brutal bass tones, to crazy sync effects to screaming noise. There is also an onboard LFO that can either modulate the overall range of the oscillators or be sent to an output for external control. CV1 controls the rate of the LFO and has an attenuator, while CV2 controls the pitch of the osciallators. This does not scale according to the 1v/oct standard, rather it is an unbuffered, unpredictable module that is perfect for sound effects, drones, as a cv source, or other experimental applications. These are being offered at a slight discount due to a manufacturing issue with the panel, where the top mounting hole were drilled too low and I had to extend them. This does not effect the functionality whatsoever and the panels mount perfectly in a system. Each module comes with 4 mounting screws and a power cable. Demo Video:" [previously posted here]

Snazzy FX Dreamboat vs Circuit Abbey's Gravity Well

YouTube Uploaded by DJjondent on Apr 5, 2012

"The DreamBoat by Snazzy FX is all about chaos and non-linearity.
To quote the manual "It's an animal living in my modular".
Its purpose is to distort... to upset, to unbalance.

It has 2 Oscillators and they both have 2 outputs. (as well as 1 CV input each).

Mmmmm........
That's 4 outputs ... the same no of inputs as the Circuit Abbey's Gravity Well.

Running into the audio input of the Gravity Well I have one of NIN's tunes ... from their Ghosts Albumn.
(I hope Trent R doesn't mind....I have used it under the creative commons licence).
The sound is slowly distorted as the bias/levels on each CV input of the gravity well increase.
The G Well seems to handle line level audio as easily as modular level audio.

At about 45 secs you cAN see the audio start to develop into very distinct waveforms.

Many thanks to Matt at

Controls are:
Bass Drum - Pitch/Decay/Pitch Envelope Intensity/ Pitch Envelope type selector.
Snare Drum - Pitch/Decay/High Pass filter for noise(to full cut off)
Toms - Combined Pitch and pitch envelope type sound weird and cool.
Cymbal - Band Pass Filter Cutoff
HiHats - Seperate decay controls for Closed and Open HiHat sounds/Low Pass Filter / Band Pass Filter Cutoff ( also has additional sweep effect on cymbal sound )/
I kept a simple beat running through the whole video. The only things changing are the mod and volume controls. I think I got a pretty good representation of the overall sound but it's pretty deep and there is a lot of scope if you get creative."
