A live looping improv jam with a Fender Rhodes, Moog Prodigy, and an Akai MPD26 controlling a custom kit in NI's Kontakt. An iPod Touch is controlling the reverb mix on the Rhodes through Lemur, and the first loop from the Rhodes is recorded in Ableton's looper controlled by a MIDI Fighter 3D. A Novation Launchpad is controlling the recording and playback of loops in Ableton Live. An MXR Wylde Overdrive is connected to the Rhodes. All audio is passed through a PreSonus 1818VSL connected to a Macbook Pro running Ableton Live.

All loops are recorded live."

Filmmmaker Maren Sextro created this portrait of me for Groove.de in May 2012. Together, we visited the flea market and my studio, and spoke about my approach to sound, performance, "circuit bending" (a term I rarely use to describe my own constructions), DIY electronics and self-education.

Experimenting with 2 Doepfer A-199 Spring Reverbs. I keep them outside a case so that I can play them by hand - sort of like a stereo Knas Moisturizer! I found that if you place the tanks against one another, each will ring the other slightly. Here I also placed them on the body of an acoustic bass to see if that would make them pick up addition vibrations (probably didn't make a difference though :) The main sound comes from a Cwejman VM-1 but it is sent into the reverbs at different points in the path, then the feedback outputs of the A-199s are mixed with a uLFO and go back into the VM-1 through the external audio input. The notes and pitches are activated by a Moog EP-2 expression pedal through a Doepfer A-177-2 External Foot Controller module.

"For your consideration is this vintage 1976 Oberheim TVS-1 "Polyphonic" analog synthesizer. This very early production example, serial number 0240, is in very nice all original condition, works perfectly, and sounds incredible. This rare synth includes both original expander voice modules, and comes with the upgraded optional mini-sequencer. This completely intact synth was recently purchased from the original owner, so take advantage of this rare opportunity to buy an un-circulated Oberheim keyboard and become the proud new owner of an incredibly classic analog synth.

Oberheim's first compact, programmable, and polyphonic synth features: (2) SEM modules coupled together, a 37-note keyboard, and an analog sequencer with the famous Oberheim Sample/Hold feature.

With an unbelievably rich and sub-harmonic analog expression, Portishead, Depeche Mode, and Vangelis would all agree that the TVS-1 is an irreplaceable instrument in a completely unique and small (26″ w x 10″ h x 19″ d, 45 lbs.) package.

This synth includes the original cover and original oval power cable."

"The Dual Cyclotron is a 'pair of non-concentric, asymmetrical low frequency semi-periodic resonators (or cyclotrons) controlling a subordinate pseudo-random voltage generator". It can go really slow, or into the audio range, making it a wild sounding FM'd oscillator or useful for slowing evolving drones. I believe these are out of production at the moment. Comes with original box."

1999 Interview with Bob Moog During His Big Briar Days

"In honor of Bob Moog’s birthday, here is a never-before-seen interview with Bob from 1999. This is during the period when he ran his theremin company Big Briar, before he acquired the rights to the Moog Music name and began producing new synthesizers. Bob was kind enough to grant an interview with Asa over e-mail, and it is interesting today to see how far Moog Music has come since its humble beginnings as Big Briar.

Q : What do you think of the current revival of Moog synthesizers in pop music?

A : For me its a very gratifying phenomenon. Back in the sixties and seventies, our instruments had the reputation for the best sound, while our competitors instruments had the reputation for more bells and whistles. At that time we made the decision to build instruments that would be favored by musicians with really good ears. It has taken a while for the world community of musicians to understand just how important it is to have really good analog sound, but now they do. So I think that the current revival of the Moog Sound is the result of musicians learning to be really discriminating about sound quality."

"Logan String Melody II. Made in Italy and and also distributed by Hohner internationally so some are labelled Hohner or Logan String Melody.

This is a Logan branded model.

All of the keys work, although a few are slightly quieter than others, some feel a bit slacker and some feel a bit tighter than others. At the treble end there is a faint sound like a few keys are pressed down, however you cannot hear this when you begin to play.

The keyboard is split in the middle, with the lower half called Bass and the upper called Treble. There are three drawbar volume sliders for each of the three sounds in the Bass region. These are the red sliders in the photographs.

There are also three sliders for the three sounds tin the Treble region these are the blue sliders in the photographs.

The two left red sliders are a bit stiff and do stick sometimes. One of the red covers has come off, as can be seen from the photographs. The blue ones move fine. On the metal slider cover the are two slight dints.

It also has 5 preset sounds. These have push button switches, all work fine.

In back there is a single 1/4 inch audio output and a volume control pedal input.

It comes with original power supply. Some of these I have seen for sale in the past have been sold without the power cable and have been untested or have been butchered to have a newer style plug fitted. This is all original.

It comes in its own built in wooden case, the lid fully removes off. For condition of case please see pictures, it could do with recovering."

Korg Sigma XP-30 Monophonic Synthesizer 241645

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction
"This is the mid 70's Korg XP-30 Sigma Monophonic Synthesizer. Korg released this little gem in the mid 70's to huge acclaim- 30+ years later, it is still relevant. Featuring 37 keys, 11 preset instrument voices, 8 preset synth sounds, 10 effect controllers, and dual joysticks, there's virtually no limit on what you can come up with here. There is a blend knob that allows you to choose between any variance of instrument and synth sounds. The joysticks contol vibrato/pitch and LPF/HPF. With all of this control at your fingertips you are able to access everything from cool vintage analog tones to special effects. This Korg is in excellent condition. The tops of the joysticks were broken off when we got it(common)- they have been glued on and are holding but the bottom part of the sticks is long enough that you can use them even without the tips. There is also what looks like a small piee of key padding sticking out above the low C key- affects nothing. All the keys and buttons work as they should. This is your chanc to get your hands on one of the coolest synths of all time- the 70's Korg Sigma XP-30."
