Grove Audio Quad VCA/Gate Module Now Available in 2MU

via The Grove Audio Blog
http://www.groveaudio.com

"The GMS-714 Quad VCA/Gate module is now available in two forms, the original 1MU format and a 2MU module with additional controls. Added on each channel are an initial gain control and a switch to select whether the channel input to the internal mixer is taken before or after the output connector. This allows the user to exclude the channel from the internal mix. Shown here is the new GMS-714W module."

Grove PM Resonator Eurorack Module in Yellow

via the Grove Audio Blog
http://www.groveaudio.com

"The Eurorack version is shown here. It is 17.5HP wide and accommodate 2.5mm pitch mounting holes." MOTM format is now available as well.

via the PM Resonator page & previously posted here: "The PM Resonator is a recreation of the formant filter section of a Polymoog™ synthesizer in a standard 5U double-width modular panel. Each of the three filter channels has a control for frequency, signal gain, and emphasis or resonance.

A rotary switch selects the type of filter mode for each of the three channels. The modes are low pass, bandpass, band notch, and high pass."

Grove Audio Dual Joystick Controller in MU Format

via the Grove Audio Blog
http://www.groveaudio.com

"After a couple of attempts to build a joystick controller that offered good user accessibility, I think I have got a design that permits one hand operation from either the right or left. My goal was to allow the user to move the joystick and have the ability to trigger the gate buttons with the same hand.

This module includes a reference voltage source that is normalled into the X and Y inputs so that if no plug is inserted the stick position will vary between 0 and the reference voltage or from - reference to + reference. A preset value can be set for each access that varies the center point voltage and an input attenuator will allow scaling an input voltage that is then varied by the stick position. The gate buttons produce a 0 - 5 V gate signal on their respective gate output jacks."

Grove Audio GMS-1370 Stereo Effects

via Grove Audio
http://www.groveaudio.com/

"The GMS-1370 Stereo Effects module is the first of a new group of digital and hybrid digital/ analog modules to reach the prototype phase. This module offers up to 99 high quality stereo effects such as chorus, phasor and reverb utilizing 24bit 48kHz codecs. Effects can include up to four analog control inputs. A panel mounted LCD display, digital encoder and illuminated pushbuttons are used to select effect type and to enter control parameters.

The module is a 2MU panel with a depth of 2.5 inches behind the panel. A pair of front panel controls allows mixing of the input signal with the processed signal, eliminating the need for a separate mixer for simple effects patches."

Grove Audio BusyBox 6MU Roughly Based on the Minimoog Model D

via the Grove Audio Blog where you'll find the full post. Also be sure to check out the main Grove Audio site for more of what they have to offer.

"This 6MU module contains a complete synthesizer voice and an internal MIDI to CV converter. Internal routing is roughly based on the Moog Minimoog Model D. An analog routing system controlled by a processor offers alternative routing schemes to extend the usefulness of the unit as a standalone synthesizer. A couple of extra features not found on the Minimoog have been added such as ring modulator, linear FM modulation of the VCOs, and voltage controlled amplifiers on each VCO and external audio sources. The MIDI to CV converter can produce up to four CV/gate pairs and internal control voltages based on channel control messages from an external sequencer or keyboard controller can extend or replace internal modulation sources for the VCOs, the audio mixer or the filter. The filter core is a 4 pole low pass filter which feeds a signal matrix and analog switch that allows one of sixteen possible filter modes to be selected. Two envelope generators can be used to modulate parameters of the filter and apply a contour to the main audio output VCA. The depth of modulation can be controlled by the modulation wheel of a connected MIDI keyboard controller..."

"On a basic level this machine is a theremin style sound control and effects unit, but it is so much more than that. You can choose from fifty tripped-out, mind-bending effects and sounds designed to modify any audio signal, from CDs and vinyl to real-time live performances. You simply dial in the number of the effect you want using the large program select button, press it to confirm and off you go.

If you like a particulat effect you have just created, pressing the large program button once again will 'hold' that effect. Just a fantastic piece of kit! You can also attach it to a standard microphone stand.

The definitive musical instrument for this wild, wired and whacked-out world we call home. But you don't even have to touch it to play it. No strings. No keys. No pedals. Just move your hands - or any other body part - through the invisible, 3D infrared sphere. Twist the twangiest country tune into non-stop trip hop. Transform ad jingles into trance.

Or warp the edgiest drum and bass tracks straight into the twilight zone. And back again, changing the sound with the slightest twitch of your hand. Connect the airFX to any line-level sound source and speaker system and you’re ready to go. Move you hand, or any other body part through the 3D sphere to turn your tunes inside out.

TRANSCENDENT 2000 Vintage Monophonic Synthesizer By Powertran

(click through for the larger pics - see this post for why)

"You probably already know what this synth is all about, but for those that don't here's a little background. Designed by Tim Orr in the early 80's (formally EMS). The Synthesizer was sold ready made or in kit form. Buying the kit meant that you got the synth for £100 less than the ready made price. This made the synth desirable for musicians on a budget wanting access to a synthesizer and had a few weeks spare to put the thing together. Most of the kits are badly put together with loose keyboards and casework. Tim Orr was also responsible for the transcendent poly synth also available as a kit. This kit was very complex and finished units are hens teeth!. Late 80's saw the demise of powertran and all of it's kits but the legacy lives on. The synth we have here has had a full service with everything functioning as it should. Keys are clean, everything is tight and built well. All analogue electronic single circuitboard design. This synth has a great sounding filter with real warmth, similar to the ladder designs used in the moogs. The filter has sweep controls with band pass and low pass filtering. A VCF Envelope control with single shot and hold facility. The filter has a characteristic all of it's own!. The synthesizer is capable of some amazing squelchy bass type sounds and effects. I could probably go on all day describing the facilities so i think it best to google 'transcendent 2000' to get a full run down of it's features. I will include the original schematic on CDROM, it's not a great copy but still readable. One control knob has a scratch on it (pictured), The octave switch does not have the tactile ident like all the other but is still fully working."

Blogger Issue with Large Pics

Just a heads up, but it looks like Blogger is having a problem displaying the larger version of pics when you click on them. I reported the problem last night here and they are looking into it. Until it is fixed you'll need to click through to the source link in posts for the larger pics. The show must go on, otherwise I get backlogged, so posts will continue to go up. It appears to have started sometime after 7:50 PM PST yesterday, as this post was still good. I first noticed it with Richard Devine's Eila post.

BTW, if you are on Blogger you might be seeing the problem with newer posts as well.

Update: Blogger is still working on fix (status here) but there is a temporary work around. It works in Compose mode in the new Blogger Interface. I still use the old editing interface in HTML mode because I find it much more efficient, but there you have it. I'm still hoping the old interface sticks around.
