An Updated on Percussa's Max/MSP FM Synth for AudioCubes

via the Percussa blog where you'll find the full post.

Pictured here:
(1)This is the oscilloscope for the modulation signal received from another oscillator, which is used to modulate the pitch of this oscillator.
(2)This checkbox is used to enable modulation of the amplitude of the oscillator using the signal from another oscillator.
(3)The KEYB IN ENABLE checkbox is used to link the pitch of the oscillator to incoming MIDI notes. The coarse/fine dials are used to create an (in)harmonic relationship between the oscillator frequencies.
(4)When the keyboard input is not enabled, you can use these coarse/fine dials to manually set oscillator frequency.
(5)These faders are used to create a unique waveform mix for the oscillator. You can mix sine, saw, square and triangle waveforms to come up with your own unique waveform.
(6)This section contains a SVF (state variable filter) with cutoff and resonance, as well as a bit and sample rate reducer. It processes the signal created by the waveform mixer.
(7) In case you want to apply an envelope to the amplitude of the signal, you can draw your own envelope here, which will be triggered using the MIDI note on received from the keyboard. Alternatively you can just trigger it manually. You can also set the envelope to loop.
(8) Finally, there is the output level setting which you can use to send the resulting signal to the audio output. You can also mute the output signal using the enable checkbox.

"iNDEX04 is the fourth DiN compilation album and includes two tracks each from the titles DiN31 - 39.

The artists on show are Ian Boddy, Parallel Worlds, Markus Reuter, Erik Wøllo, Bernhard Wöstheinrich, ARC & Mazmoneth.

As with the previous three DiN samplers (iNDEX01 - DiN10, iNDEX02 - DiN20 & iNDEX03 - DiN30), DiN label boss Ian Boddy has mixed and cross-faded the 18 tracks into a continuous ambient mix that not only showcases the albums on the disc but presents an exciting and varied CD in it's own right. It also highlights the varied and intriguing music that the DiN label offers on it's releases from deep analogue synth grooves through vibrantly melodic instrumentals to powerful, epic ambient atmospheres. An intoxicating mix of the old and new beautifully presented in a slimline cardboard wallet with an extra flap which just adds to the value and collectibility of this disc.

"Sounds exactly the same as the ARP Pro-Soloist (1972) but built much better. Gone is the cardboard bottom of the Pro-Soloist. The Pro/DGX has all-metal construction. The metal ends have a thin piece of what looks like leather glued to them. The rocker switches of the Pro-Soloist were replaced with two position button switches with a light above or below them. So, you always know which sound is selected. Also has cleaner output than the Pro-Soloist. Also, switches are arranged logically with the portamento switch located with the rest on the left side."

"Sounds exactly the same as the ARP Pro-Soloist (1972) but built much better. In 1977, ARP redesigned their entire lineup (ARP 2600, ARP Odyssey, ARP Solus, ARP Omni, etc.) by making them more robust and giving them all a sleek orange, black and white look with plain, Helvetica font and detachable (current standard) three-prong power plugs. While they discontinued the ARP Explorer I, they added the ARP Quartet and ARP Avatar (synthesizer for guitar) and changed the name of the Pro-Soloist (2701) to Pro/DGX (2733). Gone is the cardboard bottom of the Pro-Soloist. The Pro/DGX is all-metal construction. The metal ends have a thin piece of what looks like leather glued to them. The rocker switches of the Pro-Soloist were replaced with two position button switches with a light above or below them. So, you always know which sound is selected. Russell Butler uses analog, modular synthesizers, and vintage drum machines to approach the subjects of fear, loss, and self doubt while his swirling, deep vocals communicate the desire to overcome. Meet The Knobbers Synth Event This Saturday

via Andrea Pedra on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

Details in Italian on Facebook here. The following is a translation in Googlish:

"Saturday at 3:00 pm until Sunday at 3:00 am

Saturday, June 2 at the Music Center Soundy will host the second edition of MEET THE Knobbers, the highly anticipated meeting that saw the light in May 2011.

and producers of electronic music enthusiasts gather to share experiences in an atmosphere of total addiction that characterizes MEET THE Knobbers: synthesis, analog or digital and production.

As usual we will have several vintage analog synths such as ARP, Moog, Korg, Roland, Eurorack modular systems, we will be presenting new products and ARTURIA minibrute minitaur Moog by Enrico Cosimi MIDIWARE and in collaboration with Paul Groppioni with its GRP A4 preview.

Support from software companies like Ableton and Renoise, the major music stores worldwide in more esoteric hardware such ANALOGUEHAVEN (United States) and ESCAPE FROM NOISE (Sweden), DIYers and boutique manufacturers like ROOSTER MAD LAB will present their creations, modifications, repairs, also workshops and clinics of synthesis and music production ... and much more!

MEET THE Knobbers is the place where the forum comes to life on a day dedicated to music and electronic instruments with which it is created."

Update: larger flyer (click for the full size shot) and some additional info via Andrea Pedra (mmm Chianti. :) ):

"During the day we will have workshops and clinics about synthesis, modulars, elektron, live performance setup, many vintage synths, modular systems and so on, synth addiction is always our first though, as usual along with preview of mood minitaur and arturia minibrute from italian dealer midiware. Our synth guru Enrico Cosimi will be present to explain the new things and to have some fun with them.

People can come and show/explain their goodies, as our way to do things we will bring partecipants to eat some typical tuscan food and chianti like a flooding river.

This time we will have support from main modular/boutique online shops out there around the world like analoguehaven, escape from noise, schneidersburo and from main software manufacturers like ableton and renoise, along with italian dealers of moog, elektron and so on.

Everyone here in tuscany in that period can contact me with any question and need: music, food, sleep. "

Vintage Roland CR68 w/ Analogue Solutions MIDI Kit

"The CR-68 is a classic analog Rhythm Machine related to the famous CR-78.
The CR-68 has the same sound set and rhythm patterns, but is not programmable and lacks many of the better features found on a CR-78.

However the CR-68 does have breaks & fills, an accent that really livens up its beats, and a balance knob that can be used to weird-out the sounds a little bit.

A much cheaper alternative to the CR-78 considering it is strictly limited to its preset patterns.

The CR-68 offers up the basic set of rhythms and sounds.
There's 4 Rock, 2 Disco, Waltz, Shuffle, Slow Rock, Swing, Fox Trot, Tango, etc...

The sounds are analog and include kick, snare, rim, hi-hat, cymbal, maracas, claves, cowbell and congas.

These days the CR-68's sounds are often sampled instead, after which the machine itself may be kept around for use as a paperweight or book-end.

To overcome this, we are currently installing an Analogue Solutions MIDI Kit, so you can control this via MIDI as well. Accent is also supported!"

LOGAN STRING MELODY 1974 | HD DEMO

YouTube Published on Jun 1, 2012 by AnalogAudio1

"I played the String Melody dry, without any effects.

The Logan String Melody is one of the earliest string keyboards (string machine). It was produced in in Italy. In Germany, some units were produced under the "Hohner International" label - like the one in the video. The String Melody was inspired by the ARP / Solina String-Ensemble. It has strings in 3 footages (CELLO, VIOLA, VIOLIN), which are mixable via volume faders. ATTACK and SUSTAIN of the strings is tweakable. Each half of the keyboard has these features. Two bass presets can be added to the left half of the keyboard.

It has a decent analog string tone, 3 footages can achieve bombastic string pads. I would wish it had some kind of vibrato..."

Gotharman DeMoon Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction
"The Gotharman DeMoon is an amazing handbuilt four-note polyphonic filterbank synthesizer with a built-in granulator, distortion, step sequencer, and note randomizer. This is not your run of the mill virtual analog emulator but a much grittier, ballsier alternative perfect for building dirty, glitch 4-bit/8-Bit sounds as well as speaker shaking bass, screaming lead sounds and lush pads.

These are like hen's teeth now and this unit is in MINT condition, complete with the protective plastic cover over the LCD screen

The DeMoons four oscillators are continuously variable from triangle to saw to noise and waveshaping can be modulated from all sources, including the oscillators themselves. The oscillator section also has two LFOs and an envelope plus the polyphonic and unison (with detune option) modes already give you a diversity of sounds from this section alone.

The deMOON's four filters are independently programmable and can be routed in series or parallel with individual low-pass, high-pass, or band-pass filters. The DeMoon also features the Minigran, a brilliantly easy granular synthesis engine that works by cutting up and rearranging the input into small fragments to generate new timbres. It also features an inbuilt distortion unit that has five kinds of distortion effects from your regular gain and fuzz up to insane distortion effects like XDIS that will really "destroy" your sound.

The DeMoon also features an intuitive step sequencer and note randomizer - dead simple to formulate stunning arrangements as well as a MIDI in channel for use with MIDI controllers.

I can't really do this unit justice you have to check out the sounds - and the peerless Nick BAtt gives his usual excellent overview right here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK8JONB_q7U

Lunetta Guitar Module LFO bank with LDR.

YouTube Published on Jun 1, 2012 by NakagawaGakki

"Here is a new module for the Lunetta Guitar. The previous LFO bank used small trim pots that needed a screw driver to tune each of the 6 oscillators, a good idea at the time but in a performance situation it was a real PITA.
Considering the Cipher Gate Sequencer only requires 2 LFO inputs (Clock and Data) this new module has just 3 LFOs. 2 of which will be for the sequencer inputs. All 3 of them have their blindingly bright LEDs bent over and shone through a tiny encapsulated lens. The central LFO has 2 LEDs, one for each lens. The lens' focus the light down on to 2 LDRs on the other side which alter the pitch of 2 audiorate Oscillators. Not used for the Cipher but very useful for other future modules.
The signal goes straight to some small speakers without filters or shaping of any kind (incase you didn't notice). The signal was too hot to go into the camera so the tinny onboard mic captured what is currently making your ears bleed..."

I used the looper (pickup machine) for some flying saucers and the KP3 for some additional looping. I didn't use any midi in this one, but you can sure do some crazy stuff with it. More about that in a later video. I'm just scratching the surface here since I used just a little bit of the features of the Octatrack."
