"Alesis HR-16 or HR-16B Blue Replacement LCD Screen.

Tested 100% working using HR-16 Rev. A main PCB Board

Tested Plug and Play install on HR-16 Rev. A main PCB Board

Read the Mod Guide pdf found at [this link] before making a purchase

Specifically read the section regarding LCD installation found on pages 18 - 22

Note: This LCD has not been tested using the HR-16/HR-16B Rev.CA or Rev.AQ main board PCBs

neither of those revisions have a LCD contrast potentiometer built on board so not 100% that the contrast will be correct

It is possible to adjust the contrast on those boards according the Service Manual however it does require slight modification which means desoldering and soldering involved Refer to the HR-16/HR-16B Service Manual, a copy can be found following the link above

If you are not sure which HR-16/HR-16B board Revision you have, refer to the mod guide found at the link above and read pages 4-5

What's Included:
1x NEW BLUE LCD screen
HR-16 unit is not included only the LCD is being sold
LCD is not compatible with the MC-505"

Full details at coa-modular
Info on the Paperfaced Serge systems here. In short: "Often donning psychedelic punk rock collaged front panels instead of something that looks like it cost a million bucks. Pretty much the original Synth DIY community. As this was on the west coast the Serge systems had banana jacks and 4u high panels."

MULTIVOX RHYTHM ACE FR-3 | Vintage Rhythm Box 1979 | HD Demo

YouTube Published on Jun 3, 2012 by AnalogAudio1

"(c) 2012 by AnalogAudio1

This is a quite rare little analog rhythm box from 1979. The features are nothing special, but the sound overall is much better than other rhythm boxes of that era. It has a deep bassdrum and a crispy snare.

It's from MULTIVOX, not ACE Electronics (former Roland). Before the Multivox came along, Ace Electronics made several rhythm boxes which are also called "Rhythm Ace". These have nothing to do with the Multivox. The mechanical hardware looks to me like old Korg Minipops units. Was Korg involved? ;-)

All rhythms are combinable. I played the Multivox with a little reverb."

Make Noise Rene and Brains+Pressure Points Sequencing. Practice for upcoming East Coast Dates. from joseph raglani on Vimeo.

Just a little messing about with my Make Noise controlling rig. Clock is coming from a The Harvestman Zorlan Canon. Random outs to a VCADSR. A-149 Source Of Uncertainty controlling the Doepfer Multi filter and a few other things. Rene quantized out is controlling two Malekko Anti-Oscillators. Random gates are input into Envelator which in turn is controlling the waveshapes of the Anti-Oscillators. Rene unquantized outs are controlling the direction in the Brains/Pressure points sequence. Any value above 12 O'clock changes the step direction. Maths is outputting into Rene X and Y CV in's giving a nice sputtering effect.
Kind of sloppy but still you get the idea. Tons of fun. Love the Make Noise!

"The synth has been thoroughly gone over by Greg Montalbano about 3 years ago. He replaced several sliders and the VCA. The replacement VCA is the one from CMS. The synth functions very well. The face of the unit is in very good condition. The unit has not been re-tolexed as you can see from the pictures. This particular synth has the Moog 4012 filter and it sounds amazing."

"Electronika EM - 04. There is a one master oscillator in the instrument. Due to this oscillator a possibility of instrument's detuning in the process of operation is eliminated. This generator shifts a pitch of the instrument on an octave, "slalom-effect" and refines the tuning +/- 1/4. Because of split of the manual into 2 sections, the volume of each part may be adjusted.

Specifications:

— Total audible range - 7 1/12 octaves
— Keyboard's volume - 4 1/12 octaves
— Mains voltage - 220V +/-10%
— Dimensions - 790x490x155 cm
— Dimensions, 890x355x102 mm (31" x 19" x 4")
— Weight, 20 kg (approx. 44 Pounds)
— Also contains 1.126 gramms GOLD, 6.143 SILVER"

Lorne Hammond showing his myriad of sound makers at the MMTA Summer SYNTHFEST.

Featured: Roland MC-202, Teenage Engineering OP-1, Brian Castro modded x0xio x0xb0x, Allessandro Cortini & The Harvestman's SuONOIO, the vxxy chiptune synth, original Sequentix P3 sequencer, Paul Maddox aka Vacoloco's Gorf sequencer, original STEIM cracklebox, Tom Bugs' aka Bugbrand Board Weevil, and various Mutable Instruments Shruthis. Note each Shruthi is different. Lorne picked up the larger red Shruthi featuring three different Shruthi's from a DJ on a farm in South Africa.

Also worth noting: MATRIXSYNTH T-Shirt!

Update via Lorne: "The P3 Sequentrix was made in the uk by Colin Fraser who is producing the cirkilon now and I bought of ebay from a south African dj on a farm.

The shruthi-xt is a design by Frank [mailto:daniels@daniels-cards.de] aka on forums and flickr as fcd72. He runs a card company in Germany.

Frank designed the programmer knob system and did the case layout as a kit. He has done dozens of wild kits in various colours and designs.

The shruthi’s pcb designs and code and many different filter designs are the work of Olivier Gillet in Paris.

Frank’s shruthi-xt box holds 3 filters, I controller and a power regulator. The ver .96 code allows them to cascade in series or parallel.

Olivier took mutable into a small but fully registered company and took the big plunge. He has 800+ kits out there working.

He’s a friend of Todd Bailey (WTPA) and also wrote the code for the Dr Otto biscuit to turn it into a synth."

Incredible shot featuring George Mattson reaching the top of his custom EML modular (See the Mattson EML label below for more posts on the system). That is one massive system with some custom work from George.

To the immediate right you can see three cases of his Mattson Mini Modular Phoenix series. They pack a ton of power in a small space.

The system further to the right belongs to John L Rice and includes modules from Moon Modular, Modcan, and others. I'll have some close-up pics coming, and of course check out the previous post for some close-ups via Larry Kleinke aka Computer Controlled.

RCA Theremin & Talking Machine VOCALISE

YouTube Published on Jun 3, 2012 by copperleaves

"The VOCALISE of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff has become one of the standards of theremin performance because it was written for voice without words, to be sung on an open "AH". Usually we hear it performed in the soprano register but here it is in the tenor range using the 1929 RCA theremin of Leon Theremin's assistant, Julius Goldberg, in conjunction with an ELECTRO-HARMONIX "Talking Machine" set to....yes, you got it....an open "AH".

In the second half of this video I put the instrument on a rotating table so you can see all sides of it including its unusual volume antenna which is kind of hard to see under normal performing circumstances.

You'll notice that this theremin has fancy locks on its cabinet doors. Sometime in the 1940's the late Mr. Goldberg installed these to keep his kids from opening the doors and electrocuting themselves! There are potentially lethal voltages inside."
