dazed...magnificent - A Tribute to Neil Armstrong

YouTube Published on Aug 26, 2012 by donaldjasoncrunk

Don't miss the related link and note below.

"As I stepped on the moon, I looked around, dazed...magnificent. The vast, sandy silver surface was almost illusory." - Neil Armstrong

'live modular + bass guitar rehearsed improv. upper noises provided by duet of make noise DPO and tip top z3000, cymbals again by STG .SHN, cyclebox doing a variety of modulations and the entire thing clocked by Flame Clockwork. vocal loop thanks to my mouth hole + a digitech RDS 7.6, bass thanks to the epiphone newport.'

Related: Cohen's HALLELUJAH: Vocal, Theremin & MIDI theremin
"Here's a little bit of trivia you may not know about the RCA theremin in this video. According to Apollo astronaut Neil Armstrong's biographer, Andrew Smith, Armstrong actually took a recording of this theremin with him into space for the moon landing in 1969. The previous owner of this instrument, Dr. Samuel Hoffman, used it on his 1947 recording, MUSIC OUT OF THE MOON. Neil Armstrong liked the sound of it so much that he made a cassette tape of it from his personal record collection and took it with him to the moon."

"A beautiful example of this classic early Casiotone full-sized keyboard. Its upper body is all metal, tastefully finished in a very fetching 'wood effect' livery, and its base is genuine plywood! "This is one of the most, if not the most versatile, feature laden modular envelope you can get. The ability to use CV's to control so many of it's parameters makes it amazing. Unlike a vast majority of the modular envelopes on the market, you can set up complex ways of modulating the attack, decay, sustain and release of the envelope, instead of being forced to twiddle knobs with just your two hands to do this on the fly. This thing can really come alive as a result of these options. Of course, if you don't have extra CV sources yet, or you just want to use your hands to work the knobs, you can do that as well."

Other than that there are some sampled loops playing, a Synplant VA VST(controlled via android tablet), and a Hartmann Neuron (AKAI LPK25 mini keyboard)."

LUKE'S ANGER - LIVE DSI Tempest & Octatrak

LUKE'S ANGER - LIVE IN DA COUNTRYSIDE 25.8.12 by Luke's Anger
"Rawkus live techno muzak!

Laptop not included!"

"I’m using a sampler (Elektron Octatrack) and analogue drum machine/synth (DSI Tempest). I tend to write tracks separately on each machine, over 4 patterns. The Octatrack (OT) sends MIDI clock and transport to to the Tempest. Tempest audio out goes to OT inputs, this enable me to record, loop, add f.x and mangle the Tempest on-the-fly. Finally the mixed signal goes out of the OT to the mixer and that’s it, well simple. The best thing of all it fits into a Pelican 1510 (airline carry-on approved, apart from Ryan Air - wankers!)."

"Hans loves technology, and he didn’t get serious about composing until he had computers. All of the software tools have helped him to do amazing things. Even though much of his youth was infused with music, he did not go about composing the way others did. He waited and brought a unique background and started relatively “late” in the game. Straight to digital. He certainly knows how to play instruments, but from what he was saying, he never got into the “composing” elements until computers were sophisticated enough to enable him to take things to a new order of magnitude."
