"The Spectralis is more than a synth module with sample-playback and virtual analog sound engines. It''s also a sophisticated drum machine, step and pattern sequencer, and 10-band filter bank.
I first became aware of the Spectralis more than three years ago, just as the German manufacturer Radikal Technologies was pinning down the final details of its design. It sounded fantastic on paper: a digital synthesizer with analog filters, a fixed filter bank, user multisampling, and independent step and pattern sequencers, all in a performance-oriented tabletop module with loads of hands-on control. It promised to be the mother of all groove boxes, but was it too ambitious to be true? During subsequent NAMM shows I was able to see it, touch it, and hear it in action. I liked what I heard, and it appeared to deliver on its promises. At the very least, I knew that Radikal was on the right track.
The Spectralis is the brainchild of Jörg Schaaf, who was instrumental in developing synths for Quasimidi and has recorded and performed with electronic-music superstar Klaus Schulze. The Spectralis is a self-contained production workstation with features that make it attractive for live performance as well as studio use. Like most workstations, it can be used by itself, connected to other MIDI instruments, or installed as part of a computer-based system.
Although the Spectralis has now been shipping since February 2005, its operating system is a work in progress, with new features arriving in dribs and drabs. I downloaded two minor updates while I was writing this review. Since August 2006, the only official operating system has been update 097."

"Fully restored Roland HS-60 analog synthesizer. This model was designed as a 'hobbyist' version of the Juno 106 but has all the same parts, it's just in a different styled case and has internal speakers. You can see the Juno 106S / HS-60 stamp on the circuit board."
Live looping with Ableton Live, a DSI MoPho, an Akai MPD26 and APC20, a DJ TechTools MIDI Fighter 3D, and three iPads running PPG Wavegenerator, Lemur, and Animoog. An iConnectMIDI is sending and receiving MIDI notes from Animoog to MIDI clipslots in Ableton Live. Bass from the PPG app is being looped with Ableton's looper plug-in, controlled by Lemur. All loops are recorded live, nothing was pre-recorded."

SNAZZY FX: CHAOS BROTHER demo 2

"first we hear the audio out of the chaos brother...low, punchy, rumbling. then we plug it into the DPO to see how it works as a crazy cv source. we also take a look at the X/Y out on the scope."
"It has been a while since I uploaded my last video for obvious and sometimes not so obvious reasons. But last night this dreamy piece came up and I want to share it with you.
The music is dedicated to my beloved girlfriend Anne. On 9/11 we celebrated our second anniversary together. She means everything to me and I hope we can live together for a very long time.
The piece starts with two 8 step sequences from rows 1 and 2 of the Synthesizers.com Q960 sequencer. The 2 rows are manually alternated using the Q962 sequential switch. Row 3 of the Q960 sequencer modulates the Ian Fritz 5Pulser. After that the Nord Wave comes in and then an 8 step sequence from row 2 on the Doepfer MAQ16/3 driving the self build Modular. The Pipe Organ preset from the Korg PE-1000 is used to play the chords. The solo is performed on the Nord Lead 1. Anne used my iPhone 4 to film this video.
You can download/see/hear the video and music from my website soon."

"Technosaurus Modular Selector Synth. Variation of the System B. It has 2 triple resonators, an ENVmodule, a DENV module, 2 LFO filters, and a VCA module. A boutique analog synth."
"Here is a track once again featuring only the MacBeth Micromac-R as the synthesizer- it’s again 4 stereo tracks recorded onto my Fostex FD-8 multitracker…the keyboard/sequencer is the Ensoniq ASR-10 that I have and the reverb/echo effects come from an econimical and ancient ART LTX processor. I also use a Roland EF-303 for vocoder like effects! Hope ya enjoy!"
"THIS JP4 IS FULLY MIDI CAPABILITY IE: SENDS AND RECIEVES FULL CC MIDI MESSAGES , ALL SLIDERS SEND AND RECIEVE MIDI , ARPEGIATOR CAN BE SYNCED TO EXTERNAL MIDI CLOCK , ALSO THE MEMORY HAS BEEN INCREASED TO STORE 68 USER DEFINED PATCHES AS OPPOSSED TO THE 8 PATCHES YOU CAN STORE WITHOUT THE MOD ."

Beverly Hills Cop Main Theme
YouTube Uploaded by Livelifetodie on Jul 15, 2009
via this auction: "The first 20 Seconds from the link is a 3P for the synth." The main riff of course was the DX7. It's not clear of the JX-3P was the actual one used for the track or if they are just mentioning it in general. I'm guessing in general or the description would have been more distinct.
Update via J. Schnabble in the comments: "I'm pretty sure the opening riff is a Jupiter 8. The chord stabs are handled by the JX-3P."
"This JX-3P has been used in our personal studio and it sounds awesome. It was famously used in the Beverly Hills Cop movie (Video can be seen Here [above] - The first 20 Seconds from the link is a 3P for the synth)
Functional condition: The 'sens' slider used for editing only returns to 2 or 3 instead of 1. So instead of editing a range on the synth from 1-16 it's editing from a 3-16 range. The sliders and pots all appear to be in decent condition, with nothing to suggest the sens slider has a material defect (it glides smoothly through it's range with no jumping values) but I don't know what else it could be. I didn't test the sequencer but I don't see any reason for it not to be working. The chorus is functioning. 32 sounds are saved in the editable user memory. All keys, buttons tested, LFO trigger, pitch bender, all are functioning. All voices are smooth and fully functional."

via this auction "Oberheim two voice for your consideration, this unit just got serviced by the local bay area expert on vintage synths. It has modifications, external clock input so you can trigger the sequencer from a gate and it even has a polarity switch and gain knob so it can accept different clock types. It has a pot modded onto each SEM that is for external audio input gain. It has a sync switch which allows you to sync osc1 on SEM2 to osc1 on SEM1 so you can have all the oscillators synced! It has two outputs added for the individual SEMs though they seem to be extremely hot signals and overdrive if pushed high at all. There are a couple switches I can't understand, one on each SEM that seems to give more resonance maybe and one mystery one on the sequencer. This synth has obviously had some serious mod work done, I had the tech calibrate the SEMS so they tune nicely and the keyboard works great! Overall a very functional and incredible sounding two voice, I never knew how cool the sequencer was until I played it."

"This consists of three short little melody that are glued together. I have used my Arturia Mini Brute and the microKorg
The Mini Brute I let run by two Behringer FEX effects. One I used the Phaser and the other the Catherdral. I also used the mini effects, the FBX, which I used for color the sound.
The final mix I used plug-ins, a little reverb and some delay and uses a compressor or the whole to color and give the sound a more little more power. The titel is a combination of the two instruments. This part was all played live"
"The fifth bite-sized tutorial aimed at users of u-he's Diva, this one introduces the term "recursive modulation" (I already mentioned this technique in my old Access Virus programming tutorial). Here's the shortest dictionary definition I found:
recursion |riˈkərZHən| - see "recursion"
Even if you don't get that geek joke immediately, you probably will after watching the video. Due to Diva's fixed simple architecture, the only parts capable of recursive modulation are the LFOs...
First off, LFO2 is used to modulate oscillator pitch and filter cutoff. LFO2 is also used to modulate its own level... recursion! Note how the shape of the LFO (nominally a triangle wave) is affected.
Next, LFO2 is used to modulate its own rate, which not only affects the overall rate but also (again) the shape.
Normally there's no control for the pulse width of LFO square waves, but you can even do this via recursive modulation - in the 3rd experiment, LFO2 also modulates its own rate.
Of course the two LFOs can even modulate each other's rates and/or levels for a more complex type of recursion. The preset "HS Spacely Spice" is a good example of this.
Homework: Experiment further with both LFOs modulating each other until you have a sound you like. Instead of e.g. LFO1 modulating LFO2 rate directly, put LFO1 and modulation wheel into the "Add" processor and use that to modulate LFO2 rate instead. There are many more tricks to discover using those processors together with recursive modulation..."

"Weinglas is a strange European noisemaker from Frankfurt/Germany
He always wears black clothes and black glasses and wants to paint the world black with his modular sound collages
In contrast to his appearance and to the sounds he creates he always uses colorful patch cords because they are his lights in the darkness (and they are cheaper, too!)
If it was technically possible he would only use electronic gear with tubes!
