"4093 Quad Oscillator Wood Box Synth based on the 4093 IC. These synths have four oscillators that all interact and alter each other depending on their corresponding potentiometer setting. From rhythmic beeps to detuned drone hell, these pedals make a great addition to the noise arsenal. Enclosed in an old wooden box enclosure. 1/4" mono audio output jack, powered off of a standard Boss style 9v center negative wall wart adapter (not included). Ultra bright blue LED power indicator. Heavy duty momentary on/off switch for pulses and heavy duty on/off to let the synth stay on. See example video of this unit in action."

"The Jen SX2000 (also traded as MARLIN) is a 4 octave monophonic analogue keyboard. This is a much sought after vintage piece, along with the smaller SX1000,perhaps because of the wooden end-cheeks and quirky single oscillator system."

MOOG SOUND LAB (Moogfest Edition): Mutemath - Allies

Published on Oct 19, 2012 by MoogMusicInc

"Mutemath came into the Moog factory to record a Moog Sound Lab Session and reinvent "Allies" from their 2011 LP "Odd Soul" before their Asheville show last March.

Darren opens the song with the Trap-Kat triggering 3 Minimoog Voyager Rack Mounts through an MF-104Z Analog Delay while masterfully manipulating the Time and Feedback knobs throughout the song with one hand, and drumming with his right hand the whole time.

Roy plays his own Minimoog Voyager Select Series through a fuzz box and carries the song with solid bass lines, opening and closing the Filter Cutoff during each chorus.

Paul is singing through an MF-104Z Analog Delay for some vocal slapback and uses a Minimoog Voyager XL to control Animoog for polyphonic pads and lead lines.

Those lead lines are mirrored by Todd, who plays the Little Phatty Stage II through an MF-104Z Analog Delay, playing soft arpeggiated tones to round out the song.

Bob Moog Foundation Announces "Moog Is Now" at Moogfest 2012

Bob Moog Foundation Announces “Moog Is Now” Exhibit and Sale At Moogfest 2012

October 19, 2010 - For Immediate Release (Asheville, NC) - The Bob Moog Foundation and David VanKoevering have joined forces to bring “Moog Is Now”, an exhibit and sale of vintage Moog inspired albums, to Moogfest 2012. The event will celebrate the early use of Moog synthesizers in popular music, with recordings from as early as 1967 to the late 1970s. "Moog Is Now" will be presented throughout the weekend in the Diana Wortham Theatre lobby in downtown Asheville. It is open to Moogfest attendees and to the general public

Over 300 albums will be for sale from VanKoevering’s private collection, some signed by Bob Moog. The signed albums will be part of an exclusive silent auction. More than 70 additional albums will be displayed in an exhibit created by the Foundation. Part of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Bob Moog Foundation.

The title of the event originates from a slogan that VanKoevering used in his marketing effort for the Minimoog in the 1970s, emphasizing the synergy of the 1970s cultural revolution and innovative Moog technology.

Acquired over decades, the collection on display and for sale will include recordings from such artists as: Wendy Carlos, Jean-Jacques Perry, Gershon Kingsley, Mort Garson, Isao Tomita, Keith Emerson, the Beatles, Kraftwerk, Michael Iceberg, Harry Brewer, Ralph Carmichael, Chick Corea, Paul Beaver, Bernie Krause and Jan Hammer. Each album will be sold with a Certificate of Authenticity.

David VanKoevering is a lifelong colleague and friend of Bob Moog. He began working with R.A. Moog, Co. shortly before the Minimoog was first developed. When the Minimoog was released, and met with initial mild success, VanKoevering pioneered the sale of the instrument, opening the market from a few hundred instruments to several thousand. His marketing saavy, legendary within the industry, has led him to be referred to as the man who brought the Minimoog to the world.

In his later career, Music Trades and other industry publications heralded VanKoevering’s collaboration with Bob Moog on an innovative interactive piano stating “Synth pioneers Bob Moog and David VanKoevering team up on interactive CD based piano.” Bob Moog is quoted as stating “Never before has so much technology been introduced in a single instrument” about the piano.

"Moog Is Now" will be open in the Diana Wortham Theater lobby from 12-6 on Friday and Saturday of Moogfest and Sunday from 1-5.. VanKoevering will be present during those hours. The Bob Moog Foundation will also be hosting Dr. Bob's Interactive Sonic Experience and SYNTH: A Group Art Show Inspired By Bob Moog, in the Theatre lobby throughout the weekend."

Sometimes Is Not Enough (original instrumental on Eigenharp Alpha)

Published on Oct 19, 2012 by Geert Bevin

"This is an original composition, played live on the Eigenharp Alpha and looped for some parts.

It uses a single sound on my Moog Slim Phatty for all the sections of the song. This one of the challenges that I've been setting for myself. I want to create only a few very expressive and versatile sounds that I perfectly learn to play on the Eigenharp in all their nuances, as opposed an arsenal of thousands of sounds that are totally unconnected from myself.

Here I'm driving the Slim Phatty over Control Voltage, giving me an incredibly detailed connection to the expression of the sound. This is possible thanks to the Expert Sleepers ES-3 module which converts the data from the Eigenharp over digital ADAT audio to Direct Current.

Pressure on the keys is tied to volume, left-right movement to filter cutoff and up-down movement to pitch. I'm additionally controlling distortion through the breath pipe of the Alpha and delay feedback through its strip controller, both are AudioUnit effects from Rob Papen. The looping is done through Mobius and is controlled through a Rig Kontrol USB MIDI footpedal."

Filter House Jam #3

Published on Oct 19, 2012 by snolan1990

"This isn't a masterpiece or anything but I was getting a bit bored of spending days endlessly tweaking parts of synth driven tracks so I thought I would have a go at thrashing out a Disco edit over a few hours for fun. I didn't dig deep for this sample and it's a big loop so I'll give a pat on the back to the first person who names it in the comments section (excluding YouTube member BlizardOfTheCoast who I know will know it immediately but who can have a pat on the back anyway).

For those interested in the tech side this is just TR-909 and Akai S900 making the sounds, with the Akai ASQ10 sequencing the samples and S900 drums and the internal sequencer of the TR-909 sequencing its own sounds. The Akai MFC42 is filtering and phasering the loop (with some envelope tricks clocked to the 909) and the final mix is going through a bit of heavy Alesis 3630 compression."

Note this is just the original Nextel paint bluish grey Q. When the Q was first released it was available in Yellow and this color. I do not remember it ever being referenced as the "Halloween Edition". According to the listing, "This is evidently the Halloween version as shown on the Waldorf Wikipedia page." And sure enough, here it is. It's interesting how nicknames for synths form over time, for example the ARP 2600 Grey Meanie.  Does anyone know when this one came about?

"It all works great. It has seen a recent service by Clacktronics, and all knobs were replaced. The synth functions with Batteries (not included, ha) or a PSU which i'll throw in

The keyboard sensitivity would need tweaking were you to want to use it with batteries (a simple pot accessed with a screwdriver on the front panel), but it's perfectly fine running off the mains

As you can see, cosmetically it has seen better days. The casing below the keyboard must have broken and been repaired by a previous owner. It is very common for WASPs to fall apart! There are some other marks on the side too, as in the last photos"
