Korg 900PS Analog Synthesizer

"This is the rare Korg 900PS analog Preset Synthesizer. There seems to be some confusion about the naming (sometimes called PS900), especially since the face plate says "Synthesizer Korg Preset." The 900PS is quite a basic but very interesting monosynth. The 900PS definitely 'borrowed' some ideas from the Prosoloist. Instant selection of 29 different tone colors. From the sweet sound of a violin to the chugging of a steam locomotive. Sensitive soft-touch switches and plentiful controls provide a wide variety of effects including vibrato, repeat, even the harmonics you need for a Hammond organ tone.

The 900PS has 29 presets: Timpani, Electric Bass, Synthe Bass, Piano, Harpsichord, Shamisen, Banjo, Mandolin, Xylophone, Tuba, Bassoon, Horn, Cello, Trombone, Saxophone, Voice, Clarinet, Accordion, Trumpet, Funky Trumpet, Synthe Trumpet, Oboe, Violin, Recorder, White Noise, Scale Noise, Harmonics I, Harmonics II, Harmonics III."

Elgam Match 15C - Vintage Analog Drum Machine & Hard Case

via this auction

"Vintage Analog drum machine.

Elgam Match 15 C

contructed with metal and with wooden ends it looks more like a crane operating panel rather than a drum machine! I think this is from 1970's.

It has:

15 x drum style buttons
1 x- add maracas button (adds extra maracca noise to each drum beat
1 x on button
1 x down beat light
1 x tempo slider
1 x volume slider
1 x power on/off button

It is mains powered and on the back it has:

1 x removable fuse
1 x large jack out
1 x large jack - ext. stop

All button do what they are supposed to and it is in full working order. Some scrapes to the decal (in line with the age of the machine).

Comes in a free hard case - it's not an original item but is an adapted hard flight style case from the same time period. They go nicely together.

The analog drum sound is as you would expect - very retro and bleepy (if there is such a word) - the tempo slows things right down and you can get some unintential sounds out of this piece of kit. I have used it running through distortion pedals to get some interesting riff style sounds. As with most analog pieces the options are endless.

no midi or anything else to make life easy...... this is the real thing

It weighs 5.5kg"

Vintage 1970's Analog Electro Harmonix Space Drum

"The Space Drum, another EH gem from the 1970s, was a pure synthesis design with the ability to select and modify your frequency band performance. It took its trigger both from the built in pad or through an external trigger source. Control the sensitivity of your drum stroke giving a unique tonal attack and decay that revolved around your start and stop selections. The first practical electronic drum that every player could afford.

This pedal includes the following controls:
Output
External Trigger
AC
Decay
Sensitivity
Start Frequency
Stop Frequency"

New Limited Edition MeeBlip SE with Expanded Memory in ARP Color Scheme

James Grahame of MeeBlip wrote in to let us know there is a new MeeBlip SE available:

"Peter and I are excited to announce a new member of the MeeBlip SE family. This limited edition offers twice as many user-programmable patches (32) with the addition of a 'patch bank' switch that replaces the low pass/high pass filter switch (the synth now defaults to low pass).

It comes fully assembled in a distinctive ARP-inspired retro color scheme with custom-manufactured vintage knobs. Ships around Thanksgiving in the USA and Canada. We're also planning to make units available for purchase from within the EU with European power supplies."

The Harvestman Tyme Sefari MkII demo from Equinoxoz music solutions on Vimeo.

"Just a quick run through the features of the new Tyme Sefari Mk2.

I used a sample from the Radiohead song Idioteque to messabout with, hope this gives some people some idea of what can be achieved with this module. Of course this is a mere snapshot of what it can do and the vast amount of CV control possible with this module leads to some exceptionally creative manipulation of samples."

Jones-ing for the O'Tool

Published on Nov 3, 2012 by cwinkels

"Just received my Jones O'Tool MU format oscilloscope from Synthetic Sound Labs. To commemorate I spent the morning putting together a simple patch that featured almost all the SSL modules I have: the Double Deka VCO, the Model 1200 VCO, the Steiner Filter, one channel of the Quad LFO, and a Tap Tempo LFO.

Sorry about the lousy quality on the video. This bloody Kodak doesn't allow for any kind of focusing. Rest assured that the JOT's display quality is very good indeed. And it isn't just an oscilloscope. It's also a spectrum analyzer, a tuner, and a way of amusing overgrown kids such as myself."

Remember.

The Story Behind Mutable Instruments Anushri

Mutable Instruments has a post up on the making of their latest project Anushri.  You'll find the first mention of it with a video posted here back on August 1, a different build captured here on October 9th with the feature set added on the 12th, and some audio demos posted here on October 31st.  PCBs are available at Mutable Instruments here.

"The Anushri project actually has three roots. One of them was a concept for a synth 'celebrating' the SSM2164, using one of these chips for each voltage-controlled element (dual VCO, VCF, and VCA), which I started simulating in september 2011 and abandoned given the complexity of the resulting machine which would be unsuitable for a kit. The second was a concept for an 'analog control board' for the Shruthi-1, replacing the digital oscillators by a single VCO – a kind of upgrade to the Sidekick. Given the increasing complexity of Shruthi-1 filter boards – which relied on digital switching, and the difficulty of cramming a full VCO circuit and LFOs/envelopes in the small board space, not to mention a MIDI->CV converter to make it useful, this project did not go very far. The last project came from a small synth manufacturer who asked me a quote for designing the digital logic of an analogue synth (MIDI>CV, arpeggiator and digital LFOs). This intrigued me and I sort of worked my way through half of the code for this to see how easy it would be given that all the functional blocks were available from existing projects. All these were 'scratch an itch' side projects, rather than something I really believed in as a product..." You'll find the full story at Mutable Instruments here.
