MS-20 Demonstration Video

Published on Nov 10, 2012 by vitalance

"MS-20 demo video for eBay auction.
Yeah, I know that the demo could have been better if I used both my hands, but I didn't have a tripod handy.
Besides, there's 20 million videos of MS-20 filter sweeps out there already."

"The Pocket Piano is a mini electronic synthesizer with a big sound. The synthesizer features 6 unique modes:

Vibrato synth
Harmonic sweeper
2-Octave arpeggiator
Octave cascade
Mono FM synth
FM arpeggiator

The Pocket Piano is housed in a sturdy aluminum and hardwood case and also includes a built-in speaker, a 1/4" output jack, and wooden keys made for a refined touch. It can be powered both by a 9V battery or a 9V DC Power Supply (not included).

When you change modes with the right-most wooden button, a color LED above that button indicates what mode is selected with a different color for each mode. The entire keyboard may be tuned over a 2 octave range by turning the knob second from right. Volume is controlled by the right-most knob. The function of the remaining two left knobs depend on what mode is selected, and are described below. There is also a button that selects waveform (sine, square, triangle, sawtooth) in the first four modes, and shifts the keyboard an octave higher in the last two modes.

Power: 9V battery or power supply
Outputs: 1/4" output jack"

the squarewave parade New LITL Line of Devices

via the squarewave parade newsletter:

"+ while we are all waiting for the ETHR to come together, i decided to jump ahead and start a new line i've been planning, similar to the bleaks, called the LITLs. the first device is a passive mixer. its available in the store right now http://tsp.bigcartel.com/

+ the ETHR is taking longer then anticipated to get working. i know there are a lot of you out there waiting. i can't thank you enough for your patience. i'll let everyone that has preordered know as soon as i have them together. the rest will go into the store after that.

LITL mixer - http://thesquarewaveparade.com/LITLmixer.html"

"this is a compact four channel passive analog mono mixer with volume controls for each channel along with a master volume control. it can be used to process either audio or control voltages and it can be used backwards as a splitter. it does not impart any "color" or filtering of any kind and yes you can use this as an analog summing buss with your computer or other setup. it is the same design used in devices costing 10 times as much. being passive also means that it doesn't require a power source but because of that it may require a slight amplification after the main output to bring it back to up the desired level, measuring it during line level audio use showed a nearly 20db drop in volume"

Luna Noise Research First Look

Published on Nov 10, 2012 by catsynth

"First look at this little noise synth by Luna Noise Research."

via CatSynth

via Luna Noise Researc where you'll find additional samples:

"The luna_NT is the Noise Toaster circuit design by the genius of Ray Wilson & Music from Outer Space (MFOS). The controls may look seriously confusing if you're new to electronic noise, but it just takes several minutes of experimentation to get a good idea of what they do. The box has all of the features to make nearly any electronic noise imaginable including a voltage controlled oscillator, VC low pass filter, AR envelope generator and more. It is self contained using one 9V battery and an on-board 0.5W speaker (it also has an output for connection to an amplifier). I sell the complete build (circuit board, panel and black case). If you're interested in building it yourself, you can get a great kit from MFOS."

Before Access made synths they made controllers. They also made a Waldorf Microwave controller for the original Microwave.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm guessing this requires the latest OS 2.13 on the Matrix-6 for it to work.  Previous OS versions do not respond to MIDI sysex.  I believe all versions of the Matrix-1000 work as it was released after the Matrix-6.

"It is a Minimoog rip-off for guitarists!

It has the basic signal-layout of the old Moog. Instead of a keyboard there is an input socket on the front for connecting to a custom set of glue-on guitar pickups (no joke).

It is a simple but quite powerful mono-synth. Two VCOs capable of tri, saw and pulse/square waves. VCO2 is tuned relative to VCO1 for some fat detuning or those classic 5ths and 7ths. Sound is fed though a lowpass VCF (24dB/oct) before reaching the VCA. VCA and VCF have independent envelopes of the atypical ADS variety (no release). There is also an LFO and Glide control."

"Live jam on the Elektron Octatrack and Monomachine. Kick, snare and hat samples from the octatrack.

Two thick pad sounds made using effects and the poly mode on the mono and then resampled into the monomachine provide the main body of the track.

Distorted sine patch and heavy FM sound from mono provide extra rhythm sounds.

Cross fader on octatrack controlling filter cut off and delay send and feedback amount on main pad sound.

It's a bit of a trancey one this one."

"/I don't use to talk about the price of an App in my review... But, with Eurypharinx you can have a big Synthesiser for a small price. You can read the specifications at the end of this Post, it is missing nothing except a hold button on the keyboard... (Record & Share via AudioCopy, Wist & CoreMidi,...). The UI is very well done, and it is really nice to work with it. Its highlights: a 16 steps modulation sequencer (I love it), a Patching Module (awesome! Watch the video demo) and a XY Pad (2 are available). One of them allows you to assign a Scale to it (awesome too: you can play a melody with it while you're playing the Bass for example on the "real" keyboard...). In conclusion Eurypnonyx is a Killer App! (A special thanks to this developer for the free S4 Drum Machines)"
