"While learning my new white face Make Noise Rene I stumbled on this Ring Mod patch with some extra FM mods and decided to make a tutorial for those with Arp2600's or modules that would allow emulation.
As I was patching he sound drifted into a cross between something you'd hear on Solaris and Stalker - an ARP2600 version of what Eduard Artemyev did on those Tarkovsky films. Least it sounded that way to me.
Sorry you can't really hearth panning but it's worth the patch.
Thanks to Make Noise and those who helped invent the Rene. It's such a great complement to the ARP2600."

Beautiful New MAPLE end panels replace the old beat up ones.
Upper control panels is pretty nice but has a few nicks in the finish that have been touched up. The whole lower chassis has been professionally resprayed. Otherwise the chassis has no dents or bends and is solid."

"The KLM367 board had a battery leak ( very common ) and it was restored by vintage synth specialist at SDmachines in Miami. The old Rechargeable NiCad battery was removed and replaced with a lithium battery and diode combination that does not leak and is good for many years. Also, Two of the 74LS08 chips were replaced (these chips are known for dying in a polysix), along with resistor array R17 and some traces. This board came with the optional Korg Midi board, but was disabled because it was not functional, and returned to the original stock state. The board is in the machine and perhaps can be brought back to life by someone with the knowledge and necessary parts.
All the synthetic veneers were redone in real Walnut Veneer and then polyurethaned in satin finish. This Polysix is in good functional working conditions and looks very nice with the exceptions of a few very minor cosmetic flaws."

This video was recorded live at Kulttuuritehdas Korjaamo, Helsinki, 30th of November 2012. Many thanks to Lauri Kujanpää and Pertti Grönholm for working the cameras.
The song was performed using only analog synthesizers, either played live or sequenced. Equipment used in this song: Korg Micro-preset M500, Poly-61, Polysix; Logan String Melody; Touched by Sound DRM1, Roland TR-808, Juno 60, Alpha Juno 1 & 2; Moog Source; Electro Harmonix Small Stone; Yamaha RS7000 (only for MIDI sequencing); Behringer DDX3216, ADA8000; Lexicon MPX500; Steinberg Midex 8 (as midi patchbay).
Unfortunately, the audio recording from the concert failed - it was recorded only as boring mono. But fortunately, I recorded my general rehearsal a few days before the gig, so the main audio you hear is from that.

"In the early 1960s, synthesizers did not exist. Instead the Radiophonic Workshop begged and borrowed as many test oscillators as possible from other BBC departments.
The versatile "wobbulator" was a sine-wave oscillator that could be frequency modulated. It consisted of a metal box with a few switches and one very large knob that could sweep the entire frequency range..."

"The "Wobbulator" was one example of a recycled or salvaged piece of equipment put to creative use in the Radiophonic Workshop. The Wobbulator was in fact a oscillator (looking at archive pictures quite likely a Brüel & Kjær Beat Frequency Oscillator 1022 used by sound engineers to measure the acoustic properties of studios or by electrical engineers to test equipment.The large centre knob sets the frequency of a primary oscillator. This frequency is then modulated (or "wobbled") a small amount by a secondary oscillator. The depth of the wobble is controlled by the amplitude of the secondary oscillator, and the frequency of the wobble by its frequency.
When the frequencies are in the audible range, the wobbulator can produce a wide variety of space-y sounds.
To simulate the wobbulator we use the OscillatorNode from the Web Audio API. We've taken a historical liberty by including a switch to control the waveshape of the primary oscillator. While probably not true to the original device, the OscillatorNode makes this too easy to resist!"
