"David Dixon discovered some ways to derive even more fun and versatility out of the original circuit. The Korgasmatron II now features a completely independent six mode filter on each side! The modes are selected via a 6 position rotary switch. We have also added a special overdrive feature so that the output signal can be soft or hard clipped depending on how hard you drive it into the circuit. This is controlled via the input amp which starts clipping when you put the knob past 12 O’clock (assuming an standard 10Vpp input waveform). There are switches to select hard or soft clipping. This effect is subtle on simple waveform sources and dramatic on more complex sources (like chords).
The xfade circuit has also been redesigned to use the same circuit as found in the uFade module with independent cv attenuation.

Also being released is the Korgasmatron II Expander module which allows for CV control of the Q for each filter.A very special feature of the Korgasmatron II design is that you can also have extra inputs to each filter that has its own selectable filter type independent of the main filter type. So for example I can have filter A on the main module set to LPF and then run a second signal into the same filter but in BPF mode. Both signals come out of the same output.
This is really useful for complex layering or more creative applications like special feedback patching between the two inputs and outputs to create weird and aggressive filter responses.
Just like the original Korgasmatron this filter can go from clean and precise to howling and agressive. From classic MS20 type sounds to totally new territory all depending on how you play with the front panel controls.

"BitWiz is a really simple environment for writing one-liner 8-bit synthesizers (it's not my app, written by Kymatica). I am demonstrating the kind of sound I was able to get out of it, using the harmonic series to stand-in for a scale so that I can play it a little with two fingers, and running a background behind it. This sort of patch creation interface could be useful for 16-bit OSC/MIDI synths driven by controllers; though 8-bit audio has some non-obvious advantages for this task."

In the beginning there was Light, and the Vactrol opto-coupler was born. (Well, in the early 1960's anyway)!
In these days of quantum-level high-speed electronics it might be hard to imagine why we would actually want to use such sluggish CroMagnon components as the lowly Vactrol, (essentially a photocell and a light bulb)...
Harnessing these into an alchemy of music, fire, and light was the genius of Don Buchla who thought to exploit the quirks or so-called flaws of these components for their musical capabilities instead!
Nothing can match the buttery soft response this circuit evokes when commanded "to dance!" by an impatient pulse or envelope.
That unique flitty, percussive, Subotnick trademark type sound can be realized with these gems because they are based on the original Buchla 292 circuitry. There are four on this panel, each with a switch to determine if there will be additional Low Pass coloring to the signal as it passes.
Often a signal is best processed through two or more of the module's channels in series, and always a delight when used in concert with the Modcan 08A Processor's preamp and envelope follower on external inputs.
Below are four .wav file samples featuring the Cynthia/Buchla Lowpass Gate prototype, demonstrated by Peter Grenader using a single patch in which only the Gate's modes are changed. The attack time of the envelope is increased midway through each to give an idea of the full dynamic effect of this instrument.

"On this the 6th anniversary of the passing of the great Michael Brecker, I thought I would play a little improvised tribute dedicated to my friend and Sax/EWI icon- Michael Brecker. This is a little thing I was playing while thinking of him and what he did with the amazing Steiner EWI electronic wind instrument. He touched a LOT of people with his music and he was a wonderful human being too.
I am playing what I call a "Hyper-EVI Steinerphone". It's the exact same model Steinerphone EWI Michael Brecker played for many years in the mid to late 1980s with Steps Ahead and on various studio sessions. This model was the first EWI that Brecker played and he took the instrument to amazing heights. This horn was hand made by the great wind controller inventor Nyle Steiner. It is an EWI (woodwind type controller)- but I have modified it internally so it fingers like an EVI (brass type controller). The horn plays incredibly well- it's the Stradivarius of wind controllers. It is hooked up to a companion synth system also designed by Steiner. In this system are two Crumar EVI synth modules and a Steiner "wood and glue" formant filter unit (which is not used in this video). Only one Crumar module is heard in this video fed into an intelligent harmony processor with reverb, chorus, and delay. Amplification is via two Yamaha MS60s speakers running is stereo.
A little trivia on this system you see in this video: This is the actual synth unit that Doug Norwine played on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson with Melissa Manchester when she performed "La Vie En Rose" (you should be able to watch it on youtube).

Everyone has heard the classic 70's disco drum sound but the Synare is capable of a lot more.
Fat bass tones, a huge palette of analog drum & synth sounds, plus wild sound effects.
It has 2 oscillators which can deliver fat, complex and rich bass tones easily on par with the big names of vintage synths!
It also has a sweet-sounding analog filter with resonance that can self-oscillate, as well as other sound modifiers like decay.
The 3X has several presets but the fun begins on the 'manual' setting ('0') where a huge variety of sounds awaits.
Some possible uses are electronic noise / snare drums for drummers live - or for dub FX live like various UK sound system legends who use Synare like Jah Shaka - or to sample in order to create your own synth drum kits or sampler instruments like synth bass.
The Synare 3X is triggered by striking the top surface. It is also possible to modify Synares to be triggered by external audio or pulses if you connect a switching jack to the leads coming from the internal speaker.

The 3X has 2 x 1/8 inch jacks which are for a DC power supply and to connect a 2cnd unit.

This is just like a Vostok V2 with all updates plus an extra LFO and two more VCAs instead of the matrix (which is a bit redundant on the Vostok). Never even used! Got this recently but need funds for other projects right now. Only took it out to take pictures! See pictures below for more details. Includes power cable and 10 patch cables. This is an amazing deal on a feature packed analog synthesizer. You can get some awesome sounds, with very versatile patching along, it's like a prebuilt eurorack and a great way for beginners to get into euro format or for others to add to their growing collection.. the module is a combination of quantizer and beat looper. a quantizer converts a continous control voltage (on cv-input) in the range of 0..+5v into a stepped output voltage in the same voltage range. the scale assign the possible voltage states. the quantizer can be triggered per external trigger input or per link of the pulse from the beat section. the module has 5 banks with each 7 patches for scales: bank 1-4 with 28 fixed preset scales and bank 5 with 7 patches for individual user scales. the keynote transposes the actually scale. keynote and scale can be set by external cv inputs (keynote, scale) or manually per keyboard buttons. the playing of keynotes is recordable over max. 4 measures. the keyboard buttons can be used like a mini keyboard (jack keygate=gate out, jack cv out=notes, octave setting with cv-2 ruler). the cv inputs and outputs has the moog characteristic (1v/oct.).
the second section can create individual beat patterns and can record over max. 4 measures. the gate ruler assigns the gate length of the beat output pulse (off, gate, hold) and the beat ruler assigns the rythm of the beat output pulse. also the beat section generates the cv-2 output with following settings:
- variable voltage between 0..+5 volt
- random between +1..+2 volt
- lfo down or up 0..+5 volt (fixed time interval over 1 measure).
the tap-tempo generates the internal tempo (two times 4th-tap) or per permanently external 16th clock. a reset input/push button sets the beat on measure 1 and sets also the reset output. the module generates automaticly a reset pulse on measure 1 (pulse lenght=16th).
software updates possible via usb (jack on pcb)!"
