Custom VOICE OF SATURN SEQUENCER CV TRIGGER MODULAR

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Built from kit into an aluminum faceplate, mounted in a military surplus fiberglass case originally used for the launch mechanism for an MX missile.

Ten step stand alone CV and trigger sequencer with defeats on each step, clock in and out, internal clock or external sync, summed and individual outputs.

Fader/slider potentiometers instead of knobs allow for a better ergonomic and visual experience.

Large ultrabright blue LEDs are both visual aid and awesome light show.

Deep lid allows patch cables and other items to be stored in-patch if desired. Just open case and plug into synths.

Lid when open is perfect for perching, say, an Oberheim SEMpro, which is how I mostly used it.

Works great with all standard modular synth formats: eurorack, frac, motm, dotcom, etc.
Anything with CV, for the most part.

Runs on 9v batteries.

Demonstration video here: [see this post]

The stock version kit is $175 unbuilt.
This is built and completely unique with multiple improvements."

V-Synth GT - Saying Goodbye #1

Published on Sep 7, 2013 synthway·17 videos

"Just making some video with the V-Synth GT in it's final moments with me. Just playing something musical with my favorite sound within the GT's presets. I know that just playing presets isn't the correct way to show this amazing synth, but I just wanted to show how you can make music with it, and not just noise.

I'll be sharing more videos that show where the V really shines. I'm sure you'll agree with me that this can sound impressive... you just have to work on it.

I'm passing it to someone that can appreciate it more than I am right now. I really think that this is as excelent synthesizer... I'm just not into digital synths anymore."

I Dream of Wires Hardcore Edition to be Available For Purchase Again!

"I Dream of Wires: Hardcore Edition" 2013 official trailer from I Dream Of Wires on Vimeo.

If you missed the initial release and still want to pick up a copy, you are in luck!

via I Dream of Wires on Facebook:

"An announcement: We've had a long, hard think about it, and we've decided that we are going to make 'I Dream Of Wires: Hardcore Edition' DVDs and BluRays available to purchase again. Please give us about a week, and then you'll find a shiny new "BUY" button on our website. More details forthcoming.

This decision was reached largely due to an overwhelming demand. It seems that a 4-hour documentary about modular synthesizers isn't as niche as we thought! Comparatively, interest in the theatrical cut seems to be minimal, and so we've decided to put those plans on hold, and instead concentrate on IDOW as we feel it was meant to be: 4 hours, HARDCORE!

We know that there are some pre-order customers who will be disappointed that their "exclusive" edition is no longer so special. We understand, and apologize if you feel mislead. We hope you can take pride in knowing that this film wouldn't exist if it wasn't for pre-orders from people like you. Ultimately, we just need to do what is best for the film, for the modular community, and for us, which is to get this film seen by everyone who wants to see it.

Thanks for all of the interest and support!"

The Machinewerks CS X51 USB/Midi Control Surface on Kickstarter

Currently seeking funding on Kickstarter here. Click through for tons of pics and the full story behind this controller. The following is an image of the first prototype and the introduction.

"A beautifully designed & built USB/Midi Control Surface for electronic musicians & DJs. 100% programmable & compatible.

Project description
The Machinewerks CS X51 was born out of the sheer frustration of not being able to find the Control Surface we wanted.

Everything was either too big, too heavy or didn’t have the controls we needed, often they would have a lot of things that nobody wanted. It seemed to us that the market place is flooded with control surfaces that set out to be everything to everyone and have ended up being no use to anyone!

The design of many existing Controllers also leaves us cold. Cheap lumps of plastic designed to keep the costs down, with no look or feel to them at all.

Time For A Change
We decided from the start to design something beautiful, something pure, something people would want to use and own.

With 30 years experience of playing live and in the studio we know what's needed for a working artist/DJ; This is why we’ve designed the Machinewerks CS X51.

Machinewerks CS X51 Spec

28 x Potentiometer Rotaries: All fully assignable
7 x 45mm Potentiometer Sliders: All fully assignable
16 assignable buttons in a 4x4 matrix, each with a cool blue assignable LED (LEDs can respond to clip status messages)
USB and 5 pin DIN MIDI In & Out for full bi-directional MIDI support
9v DC power connector for computerless setups
Plug & Play: USB Powered*, no drivers required
100% programmable midi mapping to any hardware or computer
MacOS, Windows & Linux Compatible
Works out of the box with Ableton, Traktor, Reason, Cubase, Logic and any other programmable DAW
Aluminium Body
Anodised Body with Powder Coated Base
Portable: 390mm x 184mm x 57mm Weighs 1.4kg
RoHS compliant
Designed & Built In Sheffield, UK
The CS X51 has a beautiful form and is made from materials that will last. There are enough features to give you the power and artistic control over your performance as well as fitting perfectly in your hand luggage.

One of our other goals for this project is not only build the Machinewerks CS X51 in Sheffield, (UK) but also source and manufacture as much as possible in the UK. This may go against the grain for electronic equipment, but we believe there is a lot of talent in the UK. We are obsessed by quality and we believe the UK offers this.

We’re also working with The Designers Republic on the design of the logo and design for the faceplate, so you know it’s going to be something special, a proper work of art..."

Beardyman: The polyphonic me

Synthetic sounds come in around 5:35.

"Frustrated by not being able to sing two notes at the same time, musical inventor Beardyman built a machine to allow him to create loops and layers from just the sounds he makes with his voice. Given that he can effortlessly conjure the sound of everything from crying babies to buzzing flies, not to mention mimic pretty much any musical instrument imaginable, that's a lot of different sounds. Sit back and let the wall of sound of this dazzling performance wash over you.

Beardyman, “ruler of beats and destroyer of dance floors,” has developed a real-time music-production system that places live looping at the center of a new musical paradigm. Full bio"

1972 Moog MINIMOOG model D explanation, early years progressive music

Published on Sep 2, 2013 tuoettore·26 videos

"A little demonstration of the early RA Moog Minimoog from 1972, the italian group PREMIATA FORNERIA MARCONI.You can see plexy wheels, squared bottom case and fat sound of the old oscillator board!!! I'n not the owner of rights for this vid."

This was only two years after the first Minimoog was released. It's hard to imagine what it must have been like at the time. Aside from Buchla, there were no other synths. Via Wikipedia: "The Minimoog is a monophonic analog synthesizer, invented by Bill Hemsath and Robert Moog. It was released in 1970 by R.A. Moog Inc. (Moog Music after 1972), and production was stopped in 1981.[1] It was re-designed by Robert Moog in 2002 and released as Minimoog Voyager."

Anyway, some interesting timing produced from the routing of things and a fine example of the DPO's Final oscilator. Screaming acid at some points all just from the oscilator at that point, the filter isn't really affecting the wave. Anyway, enjoy the chaos. Next mission.... bigger case!"

TAMA TECHSTAR TS-305 ELECTRONIC VOICE MODULE - Analog Drum Synth

via this auction - learn how to sell on eBay here

"This 80's vintage, fully analog drum synth module is designed for use with standard external triggers/pads (no sequencer.) This offering is for the TAMA 'brain' only & does not include triggers/pads. Six analog synth channels (Snare, Rim Shot, Tom 1, Tom 2, Tom 3 and Bass) are adjustable by nine parameters: Sensitivity, Attack, Decay, Noise, Bend, Tune, Tone/Noise, Emphasis & Level. The available electronic drum sounds are resultantly highly variable. All channels also have an individual factory-preset Memory output configuration by Manual/Memory switch. Each channel has its own Pad Trigger In, External Trigger In, & Output. Additionally, there are aggregate Mix & Phones Outputs, & Stereo/Mono Line In Inputs. This module is fully functional; each adjustment knob, Manual/Memory switch & indicator light is operational. All adustment knob pots turn quietly with no signal noise. Cosmetically, there are no broken/cracked/loose knobs/lights, dents, missing/worn/torn feet, etc. The case is virtually pristine, including three sides, but the front side shows modest wear blemishing from vertical positioning - actual auction item is pictured. This model is in desktop form factor with rubber feet & not a rackmount configuration.

As an anecdotal observation, couple this module with triggers/pads & a large, standard amplifier with reverb, & stand back! Most typically comparable in function to the vintage & pricey Simmons SDSV, but at a fraction of the cost. Get Devolved, get Disco, get Funky, the 80's are back with the TAMA TS-305!.."

Metasonix R-System 1 Voice Demo

Published on Sep 6, 2013 7numan7·77 videos

"This is a demo of the Metasonix R-51 (Distortion/VCA), R-53 (Pulser/Ringmod) and R-55 (Thyratron VCO) synthesizer modules, which all use tubes. There are two R-51s, one R-53 and two R-55s being used in this patch.

The R-System is being controlled and processed by a Meng Qi Music 'Cocoquantus' looping delay/sampler + ribbon and antenna controller. The output of the Cocoquantus is being processed by a Knas Ekdahl Moisturizer spring reverb. And the Moisturizer's output is being processed by a Wavemakers 255R dual phase shifter (which is switched on and off throughout the video, so that you can hear how the Metasonix modules sound by themselves without the phaser effect added).

Enjoy!"

Designed by Rudi Linhard (who also designed the Lintronics Advanced Memorymoog Modification), the LMC uses state-of-the-art digital circuitry and software.
