The static sigh: Spectralis 2 Sample library V2 demo

Published on Oct 23, 2013 acemonvw·69 videos

"A quick, simple piece I put together using the Spectralis 2 Sample Library V2 from Radikal Technologies. I routed the bass sample through the LP and MM analog filters and used noise for some extra parts, otherwise... this was completely done using only the sample library."

Pics of the inside below.

"1970's Dewtron Mister Bassman synth pedal in excellent working condition. Made famous by Yes, Pink Floyd, & Genesis in the early 70's these bass synth pedals seldom come up for auction. This one is relatively clean for it's age & seems to function close to properly. It has a big lush synth bass sound, very deep & round. The pedals play up and down the chromatic scale in both octave settings. Yellow pedals three & four from the left play the same note, not sure if that's the design of something that needs to be fixed. The sustain causes some interesting things to happen with pitch. With the sustain button engaged the pitch's rise up- a cool effect, but not what I believe the unit supposed to do. You'll notice that the batteries have been replaced with a couple of power adaptors & a newer power cable. The Sustain & Octave buttons are long gone but still engage properly. Other than that everything appears stock. I'm told this one may have belonged to Mike Rutherford but unfortunately have no way of confirming this. Really wonderful synth bass pedal, lots of fun for creating & arranging!.."

"'Signes de vie' ('Signs of Life') is a light model of a simple cell colony built on the principles of one-dimensional cellular automaton.

The object is a light and sound mechanism that is based on an old fax machine. A fluorescent dye is applied on special fax paper and thermal printing element is replaced by a row of 10 LEDs. As it goes through a step-by-step under the row of diodes, it leaves on a paper a glowing trace from short flashes: a row that corresponds to one generation of cellular automaton. Gradually, each of the rows fade and is being replaced by a new one, but the glowing time is enough to see the whole pattern of the colony."

MOOG Source Vintage Analog Synthesizer Model 341 A

via this auction

"MOOG MUSIC SOURCE Model 341 A The Moog Source is a monophonic Z80 microprocessor-controlled analog synthesizer manufactured by Moog Music from 1981 to 1985. The Source was Moog's first synthesizer to offer patch memory storage. The design was also the first (and only) Moog synthesizer to feature a flat-panel membrane keyboard to replace the standard buttons, knobs and sliders, along with multihued panel graphics that were very different from anything Moog offered at the time. In addition to the memory capable of holding 16 presets, the Source features a 37-note keyboard, and two VCOs that can be selected among three waveforms and three octaves. Programmed presets can be saved to an audio cassette interface to free up the onboard memory for additional new patches. The 24dB/octave VCF has parameters for keyboard tracking, cutoff frequency, resonance, and envelope amount. There are two ADSR envelope generators that can be set in single or multi trigger modes, one for the VCF and one for the VCA. For modulation, the Source features LFO and sample and hold. The unit also features a rudimentary sequencer. The 16 factory pre-sets are: Lead 1, Lead 2, Horn, Flute, Clav Bass, Vibes, String Bass, Harpsichord, Organ, Trill Voice, Taurus, Synthevox, Sax, Wind, Snare Drum, and Lead 1 (duplicated here so that if you wanted to, you could use this extra slot to move patches around). Programs are saved and loaded via a cassette interface. Oscillators - 2 VCO's + Noise Gen. with ramp, triangle, variable width pulse waveforms Memory - 16 patches (plus casette-tape save/load) Filter - cutoff, res, ADSR env LFO - square or triangle Keyboard - 37 keys Arpeg/Seq - YES Control - CV /GATE Date Produced - 1981 MOOG MUSIC Source Model 341 A"

Strymonize (Roland Jupiter 4 with Strymon Mobius, TimeLine and Big Sky - Chill Improv)

Published on Oct 23, 2013 zibbybone·130 videos

"Since the Jupiter 4 and Big Sky were still set up from the last video, it was only appropriate to add the Big Sky's big brothers, Mobius and TimeLine, and make this chill improv. I've got the Mobius set to Quadrature mode with some slow Amplitude Modulation producing an arrhythmic panning/tremolo. Next I add in some dTape Delay from the TimeLine. Lastly, I add some Shimmer 'verb from the Big Sky with the tones set at plus one octave and plus octave & fifth. Enjoy! And Subscribe!"

"Vactrol Drift" patch - SSF -Positronic Transient Gate /Propagate

"Vactrol Drift" patch - SSF -Positronic Transient Gate /Propagate from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"First recorded patch using the new setup, and first patch experiment using the SSF Steady State Propagate and Positronic Transient Gate modules. The patch also includes some modules from my Enclave 12U case which is sitting on the floor as my camera lens isn't wide enough to capture everything. Everything clocked from one MakeNoise Wogglebug using the clocked/chaotic burst outputs. Tempo set very low for mid tempo pace of the rhythms. The clocked out is running into the seed input via the Animatter Brain seed, running trigger out to the Mungo g0 Depth Modulation input. The width and frequency modulation inputs controlled by the stepped output on the Wogglebug. Reset input on the g0 is being set by the Wogglebug clocked output. The waveform sequence is some percussion samples created on the Nord G2 modular synthesizer. Mult gate out to one Makenoise optomix, white noise hi-hats from the blue lantern noise generator "whitenoise" output. Kick drum trigger from the Cwejman BLD multi connection point via the Makenoise Brains clock master from the Wogglebug. Additional clock sent to the TipTop trigger riot. Then programming one channel output with high random probability to one input on the Propagate. Second input down from a mult connection point via the MakeNoise Wogglebug gate out. Creating counter back and forth pulses to Tiptop Z8000 sequencer. Summed output taken from the Propagate running into the PTG in low pass gate percussive setting. PTG running plucking one self resonating pitch of the Intellijel Korgasmatron (sine drop sfx). Wavetable morphing via the Synthesis Technology morphing terrarium, running into the Harvestman Double Andore, triggered by the gate burst input from the Woggle bug. Random white noises scatters courtesy of the Modcan CV recorder. CV controlled by the stepped and Smooth CV output on the Wogglebug. Output taken through the MakeNoise Phonogene for added glitches to signal. The mixed sum of all voices into a intellijel mutagen mixer. Outputs A going through Eventide Space, on patch setting 22 "Corridors". Output section C running into the Red Panda Particle Pedal, adding in more granular glitches and processing done by hand in real-time. Going into pure Red Panda granular processing at the end."

Nigeria's First Moog Dealer & Electronic Musician William Onyeabor

via Moogmusic

"William Onyeabor is one of the most mysterious, fascinating, and brilliant electronic musicians you’ve never heard of. Born in a small, rural town in Eastern Nigeria, he left to study cinematography in the Soviet Union, returning to Nigeria in the mid-70s to become the country's first Moog dealer while starting his own film company and record label."

"Between 1978-1985, he self-released eight remarkable records, on which he wrote, produced, and played every instrument alone. He developed a signature style of African electronic funk in the late 70s to early 80s, arriving at a sound that was completely unique for its time. Today, he is slowly being elevated to cult status among a growing list of admirers, and gaining attention from an eclectic range of artists from Damon Albarn and Hot Chip to Carl Craig and Madlib – yet has refused to ever speak about his music again."

"More than 30 years after original release, William Onyeabor’s music will be given new life by Luaka Bop on October 29th, 2013, with the release of "Who is William Onyeabor?". To celebrate the release, Moog and Luaka Bop are thrilled to present the William Onyeabor remix series featuring covers and remixes by artists such as Dam-Funk, John Talabot, and Peaking Lights, to name a few, who’ve reworked Onyeabor’s original music using custom Moog synthesizers and their own signature styles."

"Stay tuned to moogmusic.com as the project unfolds this fall and don’t miss the week of William Onyeabor parties happening around the world, starting October 24th. Visit williamonyeabor.com for full line-up and to rsvp for each party. Pre-order "Who is William Onyeabor?" now, and download the song Atomic Bomb instantly."

Take Me To Your Modular: Exhibit at Mountain Oasis Festival This Weekend

via The Bob Moog Foundation on Facebook

"Take Me To Your Modular: Exhibit and Samoogarai design at #MtnOasis festival this weekend! Check out the details here: http://bit.ly/17Iujwt"

"The Bob Moog Foundation is proud to present Take Me to Your Modular, an intimate exhibit of three vintage modular synthesizers from the early days of contemporary synthesis. Take Me to Your Modular will be presented for the very first time at the 2013 Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit from October 25th-27th in the Diana Wortham Theater lobby, where the Foundation will also house Dr. Bob’s Interactive Sonic Experience, a setup of theremins and synthesizers for public exploration.

Highlighted in the exhibit will be a custom built Moog modular, featuring many modules from the early 1967 R.A. Moog company, an Aries 300, and an ARP 2600. The instruments are part of a new loan from UNC-Greensboro to the Bob Moog Foundation. With each system comes a fascinating story not only about the technology, but also about the technicians and end users. The exhibit was created to inform and inspire people about some the early iterations of modular synthesis, a technology upon which much of the music at the festival is rooted.

In conjunction with the exhibit, the Foundation is offering custom t-shirt featuring an image affectionately dubbed by the artist as the Samoogarai, a samurai robot figure made completely of synthesizer elements including modules, keys, knobs, and cables. The image was originally designed by Brooklyn based John Solomine of Spike Press and was a star at the SYNTH Art Show at Moogfest 2012.

Come visit the Take Me To Your Modular exhibit from 12-6pm at the Diana Wortham Theater lobby through the Mountain Oasis weekend. After the festival, we will be posting more information about each modular synthesizer. Please check the website for updates."

If you are heading to the Mountain Oasis Festival, don't miss TRASH_AUDIO's event there as well.
