'A Modular Revue"

We are happy to announce a night dedicated to modular synthesis. This event will be held at Crate Brewery, Hackney Wick and will consist of modular performances from start to finish. All of the acts will provide improvised shows with the following rules: No Dj's, No Samplers and No Computers.

Modular synthesis is the most exciting thing happening in music production today. 2013, in particular, is seen by many as a golden age for modulars. Our event will put these synths at front and centre where they belong and highlight what they're capable of. By running the evening as a purely modular show, we hope our guests will hear these systems in a new light.

On a weekly basis we're meeting producer after producer through our store, so this event is likely to become bi-monthly.

"This unique VCO consists of an ultrasonic oscillator core followed by a parallel pair of waveform generators. Each waveform generator consists of a switched multi-octave divider followed by circuitry to generate a 10-step waveform using a set of 10 slider potentiometers. Also included are a novel synchronization circuit with two different operating modes and a built-in "digital ring modulator" (DRM) for producing a wide variety of synchronized and anharmonic sounds. The oscillator core is highly stable (better than 20 ppm/K in the prototype) and features wide-range, accurate tracking (better than 0.05% over fifteen octaves). "Here is the Polymoog including a Moog Polypedal, original legs, and custom road case. this model, the 203a allows for full synth tweakability. Its serial number is 1145, marking it as very early production polymoog. It has a few scuffs, but overall its in great cosmetic shape. All sliders and interface buttons are intact.

This synth works pretty well, and has a great sound to it, but has a few issues that need to be addressed for full reliability -

The 3rd highest C key is intermittent, sometimes I'll physically move the synth and it'll comeback or go out again.

The beat/fine-tune knobs on the front panel that are used to tune the two oscillators together are also intermittent, when they do go out, they cannot be tuned together.

The other issue, is that while the "VAR"(the synth mode) works well, some of of the other presets sound weird or very quiet.

This sale will also include the original legs, a matching Moog Polypedal in excellent shape, and a custom road case for the synth..."

It is a razorfast pitch recognition system and realtime pitch conversion unit that translates any pitch and timbre to control signals, both MIDI as CV Gate, totally ahead of it's time and superceded by nothing.

"Created a new tutorial (or really a tip/trick) to double the polyphonic parts you can sequence external gear with. Typically, one might think that they can only use the three Dsynth parts, routed to send MIDI notes to external gear, not its internal sampler, to record polyphonic parts. The Asynth (or hybrid synth) parts are monophonic, but because all notes are sent (just one has priority) this means that when you route the signal to a MIDI channel, you can have 3 more polyphonic parts (there are three monophonic 'parts' in the Asynth section, and you can do this for each).

Feel free to ask any questions you might have!

Sorry for all the 'umms', I make these for the fun of it. They are not scripted (I'm sure that's obvious).

"And here it is! My fully-improvised set at the fantastic Treasures Roadhouse in Corralitos, CA. It features a bunch of new techniques including using two iPads running the same NanoStudio project to do two lead melodies simultaneously, no metronome clicks, updated sustained bass instruments, and 8-bar loops (instead of my usual 4-bar ones).

Big props to Treasures Roadhouse for hosting us. They were NOT even officially opened yet but they let us have the festival there early. Also, tremendous thanks to Rick Walker for organizing the festival for the past 13 years. It is amazing how many people got a chance to take the stage in the past few days---all kept on schedule too.
