ROLAND HS-60 JUNO-106 ANALOG SYNTHESIZER SYNTH

Published on Mar 31, 2014 SynthgodXXX·44 videos

"ROLAND HS-60 (JUNO-106) POLYPHONIC ANALOG SYNTHESIZER! 100% ZERO talking! Hell YESSSS!

***WATCH YOUR SPEAKER VOLUME! THIS VIDEO CAN GET LOUD!!***

This HS-60 has been modified w/ BLUE LED's, 3 prong power input & replaceable battery clip!! All VOICE CHIPS WORK PERFECT!!

One PROBLEM: The battery dies quickly after you switch it off!!
Seems to be a grounding issue inside dealing with the battery clip and/or the board it is on. I don't know how or which wires inside it that need to be grounded or where to connect them! If you are able to shoot me a message & help me out it would save me from having to sell this beautiful synthesizer! I loaded the presets into this HS-60 to demonstrate that it WORKS GREAT & SOUNDS FANTASTIC!!

But like I said, the presets go BYE-BYE once it turns off. I can use this synthesizer like a JUNO-6 in "manual" mode with no problem! All I really need to do is send it to the fantastic SynthSpa & get the problem fixed, I'm just short on $$$... I just bought a Roland SH-09 & have to wait... unless there is a person who can help me find which wires or what to do to fix it myself!! Again I am not trying to show off my playing skills, just showing how AWESOME this underrated synthesizer can be! Recorded into Ableton Live 9 with no FX.

Thank you for watching! Please subscribe!
More synthesizer videos coming soon!!! ;)"

Basyn Analog Bass Synthesizer Pedal

via this auction

"A 2 oscillator analog bass synthesizer in a compact 5 lb package. Full envelop and filter controls provide fat bass sounds. Also includes noise generator. Includes documentation and 9v power supply.

Two oscillators with digital frequency control for drift-free performance. Oscillator 1 is tuned to 16' (low C = 32.7 Hz), and oscillator 2 is tuned to 8'. A mix pot lets you blend the two oscillator outputs in any ratio you desire.
A pseudo-random noise generator with a cycle time of more than four minutes. Make explosions, wind, timpani, etc.!
Analog waveshaping giving a preset mix of ramp and pulse waveforms, or red (1/f) and white noise.
A REAL analog Attack-Decay-Sustain-Release (ADSR) envelope generator with true exponential decay and release curves for a natural sound.
A REAL, honest-to-God, analog Voltage-Controlled-Filter (VCF)-- NOT a digital substitute! The VCF is a state-variable design with resonance ("Q") control. The filter tracks the pedals and has variable cutoff frequency along with variable sweep control from the ADSR.
A Voltage-Controlled-Amplifier (VCA) that can be controlled from the envelope generator or gated by the pedals.
Eight pots and two switches for creating your own sound. The pots control attack time, decay time, sustain level, release time, oscillator mix, VCF initial frequency, VCF sweep, and VCF resonance. One switch selects either the oscillator outputs or the noise source, and the other switch selects either the ADSR or gate output to control the VCA.
Compact heavy duty case design that fits in a gig bag or micro keyboard case."

elsa iOS sampler

Published on Mar 31, 2014 humbletune·54 videos

"I love samplers, but I wasn't completely happy with how most of my samplers work, mostly in terms of looping. So, I thought I would attempt to make my own and try to make it more playable.. Anyway, this is the result.

The way it works is that it looks at the note being played and makes the sample length shorter or longer depending on this. There are also some effects, bit crush (you know me), reverb and a resonant low pass filter.

It also comes with audiobus, core midi and ACP 2.0."

iTunes: e-l-s-a - Erik Sigth

"Elsa is a retro style sampling keyboard with tempo based looping. Record, save, load, reverse samples with a multi octave on screen keyboard or plug in your core midi device of choice, soft- or hardware. Elsa comes with three built in effects, a reverb, a resonant low pass filter and a frequency/bit crush. Samples are looped in three different modes, one off, forward and/or forward-reverse. The start and end of playback also comes in three modes, one set of start and stop for all, one set per note and/or one set per octave, allowing for many different types of samples. Additionally at playback time, sample length can also be controlled by a set of sample dividers, 1-8.

Memory Moog Plus with flight case

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

" The "plus' was the later version of the Memory Moog, and the tuning is much more stable on these; all voices tune when the autotune button is pressed. The plus also has factory MIDI. I have the original owners manual with it, as well as a custom made Anvil road case. However, as is the case with most used gear, I am offering no warranty, guarantee, or return on this item.

The Memory Moog was the first Moog with a programmable memory- it was Moog's answer to the Prophet V. It was their top of the line synth at the time, (outside of the modular beasts), and is packed with features, including a great sequencer and the familiar killer Moog low pass filter. Cosmetically, this particular synth has the most beautiful wood grain I've ever seen on any synth ( see the photos). It is a freakish thing the way the color changes from light to dark- almost like a sunburst guitar top. It has been lovingly cared for and maintained over the years, but I am no longer playing much, so although I hate to part with this treasure. it's time to cash it in..."

Koma Elektronik BD101 Analog Delay and Gate Pedal

"Koma Elektronik BD101 Analogue Delay with 'Hard Gate'.

This pedal offers users more tweakable on the fly options than nearly any delay pedal I have seen/used. Too much to list or copy and paste so here is the 'tagline' from Koma and a link to their website:

'Mangle and cut apart your sound with an innovative voltage controlled analog delay circuit in combination with a fully adjustable wide frequency range gate!'

http://koma-elektronik.com/?product=bd101-analog-gate-delay

A few things I will say, this pedal incorporates its own CV output by way of the three infra reds in the bottom right corner of the pedal. These act as emitters and receivers judging distance/depth. This can then be used to control any parameter of the pedal via the onboard patchbay or another pedal (I've used it to control INFANEM gear, analog delays and Eventide gear to name but a few).

This pedal is really quite special and amazing fun with a synth/iPad or guitar pedals. Lots of functionality and great sounds.

Moog Source Analog Synthesizer SN 2116 Project Machine Minus Panel Membrane

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Kind of interesting to see what's under the panel membrane. What's curious is the seller states he drilled the two holes you see.  That leaves the question of how the original membrane connects to the synth engine.  Details via the listing:

"I bought this Source a while ago. It came to me with various parts of the membrane panel not working. All of the analog components work, and I was able to mess around a bit shaping sounds. However, to gain full access to all the parameters, the membrane needed to be replaced.

Instead, I decided to build a whole new switch panel using normal push button switches. However, I’ve come to realize a project like this is more than I have time for. As it sits, it literally just needs a new membrane panel installed. The only modification I did was drill the two holes you see on top of the chassis. This was to be for the wiring harness of the new switch panel. If a new membrane panel gets installed, these holes will not interfere with any membrane switch function.

The only other detail is that the three wooden pieces that surround the keybed need to be reglued in place. They are fully intact, but the original glue had just crumbled when I took apart the board.

For those not in the know - the Source is the closest sounding thing to the original Minimoog! I was pleasantly surprised, when I first messed around with it, at just how accurate that statement really is. It doesn’t have a third oscillator like the Model D, but it does have a dedicated LFO, sequencer, arpeggiator and sample + hold functions!

Obviously, this board is sold as is, AS A PROJECT. I won’t accept and returns or give refunds. Please understand what you’re getting into making this purchase!"

An Interview with Mutable Instruments Olivier Gillet

via Art Music & Technology

"I mention it during the intro, during the interview and during the outro - I'm a fanboy of the work of Olivier Gillet. As the designer/developer behind Palm App "Bhajis Loops" and "Microbe" (as Chocopoolp) and the Mutable Instruments modules (with Braids as one of my alltime favorite modules), Olivier is on the front lines of music technology creativity. If you haven't yet heard of his work, I'm glad to be introducing you to him.

In this interview, we talk about Chocopoolp's creation, how this morphed into Mutable instruments, and how a DSP-trained student became a leader in the mostly-analog world of modular synthesizers. We also learn a little about how he works, and where he is taking Mutable for the future. The conversation flys around a bit, but Olivier keeps me on track...

Enjoy!"

The podcast was downloadable so I popped it up on SoundCloud to embed and have in the archives. The interview is by Art Music & Technology.

Stereoping Demo for DIY-Eurorack Module Spring Reverb"

Published on Mar 31, 2014 stereoping·31 videos

"Second protoype of my eurorack Spring Reverb module. This is the result of extensive experimentation with many commonly availabe schematics to get something that should work with ANY reverb tank (tested with 15 different tanks). The module has controls for send level, recovery level and sendlevel-current limitation. These 3 pots offer extensive control over the sound of your tank from the cleanest reverb to screaming input-coil distortion. A dry/wet pot and a 4 band equalizer colouring the reverb complete the features.

The demo shows pointless pot-noodling on 4 different tanks with input impedances from 8 to 1500 Ohm, insulated and grounded versions. Easy listening theme played by Vermona ER9, TX81Z, Kawai K1m and Fantom in last example with soft Drums and Piano.

This module will be availabe as a DIY assembly kit with professional frontpanel. I am working hard on it and hope to get my shop going in early summer 2014."

Kurzweil K150 FS Additive Synthesizer Audio Demos

"Recordings made in the mid to late 90's of some choice presets from the Kurzweil K150 FS additive synthesizer. All recordings are to DAT using the K150 performance features, and a Lexicon Alex effects processor. The K150 had some very interesting and unque performance capabilities including a 'Chorus Editor' which actually was achieved by layering voices on top of one another, delaying then and changing the pitch of each layer. This made for some very interesting arpegiating, delayed as well as chorus effects. These 'Chorus Editor' features as well as 'Timber Shift' and LFO effects are featured in many of these demos. Some fixes done in iZotope RX in order to repair some DAT distortion and dropouts."

Using the headphone out of the Easel, I fed sounds back into the 200e... 1st through the Ekko 616, then into the 230e. The 230e sends the audio to the 206e mixer.... the 230e ALSO sends CV and pulse to control panning and other aspects of the patch.

Cheers!

"Octave released this analog classic - the Cat - during the era of the Minimoog and ARP Odyssey synthesizers. The Cat is actually very much like the ARP Odyssey, so much so that ARP had sued them in the late 1970's for cloning their designs. The Cat is a monophonic/duophonic analog synthesizer with 2 oscillators capable of square and sawtooth waveforms. VCO 1 also has a triangle waveform. Each of the waveforms can be played simultaneously and mixed together and there are additional sub-octave oscillators on each oscillator to blend new and interesting sounds.

This one was recently serviced by Deltronics in Chicago to have the power supply cleaned up. The oscillators are stable and all the pots are smooth. There is some visible wear on the face plate particularly around the filter frequency pot. There is also a small ding in one of the wood panels shown in the picture. Overall though the synth sounds and plays great."

AIRA - Miami Music Week

"The Roland crew hit Miami Music Week with the AIRA gear and we thought we'd show you some of what happened. We shared AIRA with a lot of big artists and, as you can see, it caused quite a stir and blew a lot of minds They jammed, performed, and even DJ'd their own VIP party - live - for literally hours. And nobody dared hit the STOP button once. This is just a taste of what happens when AIRA comes to town. More to come..."

Floor Jam Fun

Published on Mar 30, 2014 ISOTROPOSPHERE·124 videos

"Moved to the floor after moving some gear around for better use, this is the jam and fun that followed.

Left side. Suitcase synthesizer I fabricated from a case which was being discarded. Two rows of euro rack on the bottom, side panel with power couplings available, and the Technosaurus 2100 upper portion. This is my beloved small wonders series all snug behind custom panels with jacks patching out the various connections for each device. Huge thanks again to Jurg for getting them operational again. WARNING- Technosaurus small wonders devices are NOT designed to share a power supply with other devices or one another. Save your device, keep it powered solely. The right side is the Super Synthesis Super 37 modular keyboard controller which is controlling the three voices I am using here. The S37 is a one off custom build in conjunction with David's personal unit anodized in green with my own hand made Padouk wood side panels. Voice one - Din Sync OSC303 triangle wave to Blue Lantern Diode filter, Doepfer ADSR and VCA for this voice. Voice two, Technosaurus Microcon to Delptronics Ring Mod and out to mixer. Voice three is the MFB Kraftzwerg eurorack module in the S37 using the adsr for one oscillator, a little from the noise source and adsr two on the filter. All three voices then sent through the Synthrotek pre-development echo module with my custom faceplate. Other modules for the drums from Delptronics and Din Sync, timing and clock from Flame Tame machine, clock separations from Turing machine, Stoichia and Spock. The suitcase was nine months in the making which was mostly spent fixing my damage to the Technosaurus pieces. All good now, looking pretty and sounding great once again. The SSS37 was a great project, blows me away every time I uncover it and is my version of a poor mans minimoog model D. Any questions on anything seen or heard here should be sent my way, hope you like it. Enjoy!!!"

Fractional Rack Mdlr Jam

Published on Mar 30, 2014 ISOTROPOSPHERE·124 videos

"Finally filled the last empty space in this completely DIY fractional rack modular synthesizer that I built.

She started life from the last few pieces of Purpleheart wood I had of which the frame and side panels are made from this. The perforated steel and aluminum bottom panel I had to painstakingly bend to fit the side cheeks. They got rid of the brake from the shop. :-( The power is from Paia as well as a pre-amp module, a balanced modulator (ring mod) and a mixer, left to right in video. This is followed by my custom MOTM version of the Bi-n-Tic module converted for frac rack use and finally the Synthcube Steiner microcon module for frac. Drums are coming from the Korg ES-1, the Bi-n-Tic is being fed audio from the SynthTech Cloud Generator which it and the Microcon are being sequenced by the C&G Melody Mill. All not in synchronization but it was sounding cool. Enjoy."

Audiovisual Grain Machine Demo

Published on Mar 30, 2014 John Keston·34 videos

"I designed this software to do audiovisual granular synthesis. It allows a performer to apply granular synthesis to sound and corresponding video using a touch interface such as MIRA (shown). The audio and video are accurately synchronized creating uncanny effects. The software also has the capability to capture and repeat gestures so that the performer can accompany the projections with multiple layers and arrange compositions in a performance setting. This demo granulates the voice and image of Lister Rossel. In addition I use analogue synthesizers to contrast the digital manipulations."

Info on Noise Patterns (click through for audio and more pics)

"Expanding on Perich's 1-Bit Symphony and tonal works for electronic circuits and acoustic instruments, Noise Patterns is a composition for sequenced 1-bit patterns of white noise, programmed for and performed by microchip. Instead of synthesizing definite frequencies, the code in Noise Patterns outputs random sequences of 1s and 0s. The 'notes' of Perich’s 'score' are then varying probabilities of randomness—ranging from the sound of white noise to sporadic instantaneous pops—which he composes into rhythmic patterns. In a tidal wave of 1-bit noise, the music is an investigation into the foundational limits of computation, which surface in the seemingly simple world of randomness."

OP-1 new DSynth - CUCKOO Walkthrough

"The OP-1 just got an OS update, and they're introducing a new synth engine called DSynth. It's based on the same engine as the DBOX, but slightly different. It's definitely the deepest of the synths engines within the OP-1 so far. I'm just scratching the surface in this video really, and half of the time I don't have a clue of what I'm doing. But it's great fun, and you can be both dreamy and glitchy with the new synth.

Check it out!

1971 Moog Musonics MiniMoog Model D SN 1242 with MIDI

via this auction

"For Sale : 1971 Musonics MiniMoog Model D Serial # 1242. (making it production unit # 242). DOB 12/22/71.

This particular Mini is very unique, because it not only contains all of the original hardware (RA Moog), original wood casing, but she's in beautiful shape, & 100 % functional as well. There are no scratchy pots, double triggering of keys, or other issues to report that plague vintage Mini's. This one has been completely refurbished by Chris @ This Old Synth which included new bushings, recapped power supply, tuning, scaling, installation of the OptoKey upgrade, and more. From the cosmetics side - she only has one minor blemish on the casing in the front (right side), yet overall, I would say easily a 9/10 condition. Purely, a studio/museum piece synth here - babied, and never taken out of the house other than for occasional maintenance.

1) OptoKey upgrade : This upgrade uses optical sensors to replace the older flaky contact system, making it immune to dust and corrosion over time. It completely eliminates double triggering or dirty contacts repairs in the future. I cannot say enough for the touch and responsiveness of this MiniMoog with this upgrade ! It also provides MIDI with basic on/off functionality, yet it does not transmit CC messages as an FYI. Note : The MIDI inserts are not drilled though the wood, nor through the metal casing - see pics, as 'non destructive' approach here was taken here to preserve the original condition of the synth in all respects.

2) CV Mod by CAE. This particular mod allows you to be MIDI controllable via a Roland MPU-101 to MIDI interface or as such.

3) The original old 2-prong lamp style cod was replaced, to a newer 3-prong grounded variety."
